I'm normally an advocate for sticking your dick in crazy, but this bitch is just too far gone. Not a bad film btw though it did seem to me that the ending came out of nowhere. Throughout the movie it is established that despite being clearly disturbed, the girl is still in touch with reality, so what the fuck made her think that she could successfully perform a lung transplant?
>>215287179Yeah it's a really great ending. The setup is kind of in both camps of comedic and serious, but they end on an emotionally brutal note.
>>215287179Oh and from memory it was based on a short film. So they might have kept that part as the ending and expanded it out.
Been checking out this so-called /hor/ general, people tell me it’s about horror movies. Frankly, very boring stuff! They talk about the SAME 80s movies every single day, Evil Dead, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, all terrible, all aged like milk. Total audio-visual disasters. Nobody’s talking about anything NEW, very sad!And there’s this one guy, always posting Suspiria and that, let's be honest here, very ugly woman, he posts her over and over again. Folks, we get it. It’s colorful. It’s Italian. MOVE ON! The general would be doing much better numbers if he took a permanent vacation.
Where is the retard that told me Smile 2 was better than the first one, movie sucks, plus I cannot take seriously anything with drugaddicts, drugaddicts deserve all the suffering in the universe so I'm rooting at all times for whatever is killing them.
>>215287439Of course the 80s uncs on here don't like it. You think every film needs to ‘feel like 1982.’ Newsflash: it’s 2025! We have color now.

Who /pumpkinhead/ here?
>>215287738Fair.>>215287777Pleasance is actively on his deathbed and it's kind of depressing to watch him. Loomis peaked in 2.>>215287742I prefer the TC, actually.Kills is watchable, the Extended Cut especially, but the short fat guy mistaken for Michael is just nonsense. And I'll admit part of why I rate Kills lower is because it feels like it sets up a conclusion that never happens because of how wildly different Ends is, which I suppose is really a problem with Ends more than anything. I respect Ends overall because it's basically just Christine, except with an autistic murder-hobo instead of a haunted car.
This might be the first movie with a fakeout death that actually took me off guard in a long, long while. No it's not good, no I don't recommend it, the CGI is jarringly bad even if some of the shots are nicely done and the concept itself is unique but done very little with. Still credit where credit is due, I was shocked they had the balls to not kill that someone off, especially considering what happened in the finale.
>>215287676>any films you guys think had great plot devices but shit execution?I know some people love it but Prince of Darkness always felt like it had a lot of squandered potential. Cool setup that you could do a lot with and some awesome scenes here and there but most of the movie is clunky characters aimlessly dancing around the central plot device of Satan's cum jar.
>>215287860pumpkinhead is ultrakino, i think most people here pumpkinhead.are there any other kinos that lean heavily into southern gothic with witches in the bayou and such? that part only really featured for a couple scenes in pumpkinhead but it was so well done that i think about it all the time.

>>215287676>And on that note: any films you guys think had great plot devices but shit execution? That russian Kraken movie had a fantastic idea with the lost submarine holding an unstable super weapon but I cannot think of a worse way they could've executed it besides convenient skybeam at the end and literally nothing else besides that. They had a perfect setup with this absolutely gargantuan thing that dwarfs submarines and a potential superweapon in its grasp that could somehow be more dangerous and the end result is Oh well it shoots a big beamy thing... the end.

Just got out. Has some cool elements, but gets so much fucking wrong. Way too schmaltzy. I think Mike Flanagan has been a very bad influence on other horror filmmakers. Like the last Conjuring, assumes were way more emotionally attached to these characters than it should, and puts their emotional struggles front and center, far more prioritized than entertainment value. The little boy from the first movie is terrible, but the sister is a good actress, despite getting some UNBELIEVABLY cringeworthy dialogue. It's like J-horror take on a Freddy movie, if you get what I mean. >>215291072>I don't get it at allI guess what I mean is (spoilers) it's one of those movies that has the Ringu roadmap, it's all about hunting down the body of a restless spirit so that it can find peace, about following clues and visions. It puts atmosphere way above action. It might be the only horror movie I can think of where I'm pretty sure not a single character actually dies.

>>215289742I thought it was pretty incredible for the budget that it had. unique concept, and really insane from start to finish. my favorite horror from last year, definitely the 'scariest'. if you liked REC 2 or climax, then you will like it.
>>215290983The first one is one of the worst movies I have ever seen, would you say this one is worse or better?
>>215291220>The first one is one of the worst movies I have ever seenI didn't like the first one at all but have you even seen 10 movies?
Is there a good like chart of types of horror to watch for halloween? like a bingo chart or something? i'm trying to make sure i get a nice coverage of genres
>>215291220I liked it better than the first, but that is in no way a recommendation. I liked the setting and the photography, I like that The Grabber is supernatural now, I like Demian Bechir, I like Violet MacGraw's sister and that they've got a little horror dynasty built. But as a story it's dumb, and it's told with a lot of self-importance and some real embarrassing lack of self awareness. There are MANY moments that are supposed to come off as "badass" that fail miserably.

>>215291572I'm not American and I don't care about American politics. Leguizamo is a shitty actor.
>>215288954Tales from the Darkside is fun and often called the true Creepshow 3.Mario Bava's Black Sabbath is great.Brian Yuzna's Necronomicon is cool and underrated.
>>215289608I find this movie to be very comfy and somehow legitimately disturbing as far as concept goes. Don't like the ending but I like the film.
>>215291292>teleports behind you

>>215291856It is a realistic ground movie. >>215291889I heard. But still. The first 3 were amazing and the 4th had it moments.
>>215291910The 4th was an awesome film also if someone can do an ai edit and remove all the black characters.
>>215289742>>215290248It's awful, if a "gimmick" isn't enough to keep your interested you are in for a bunch of drugaddicts doing drugaddict things while you hear shit happening out of camera.

>>215291983Better than this year.
EVIL DIES TONIGHT
>>215292006Yeah it's better than a bad year. Both are bad years regardless.
watched Albert Band's (father of Charles Band) 'I Bury the Living' 1958 about a map of a cemetery whose plot changes suspiciously coincide with real outcomes. not much proper horror, far more like a solid Twilight Zone episode with the speculative premise and tv budget scope but well made and acted.
>>215286115Underrated kino
>>215291856I meant>virus film>conversations feel natural and unscripted>relationships/characters are flat rather than story archetypes/character arcs>kind of miserable and pointless like real life
vampire in brooklyn is the best dracula movie and it's time we accept reality.
>>215292008Sorry guys I need to postpone. How is next Wednesday looking for evil to die?
>>215292034Not really. Last year had>Smile 2>vhs beyond>mads>the substance
>>215291902/horror likes MadS too
>>215292150
>>215292129The Substance was too long and frustrating at times, like an 30m anthology section stretched out for 2+ hours.I would rather watch a tight 90m film that doesn't piss me off than one with a great idea that does. It did have a really thougtful concept though, everyone bangs on about age but to me it communicated more about addiction.
>>215292162go back faggot
>>215292037Cool film setup.
>>215289742I liked it but you seem like the type to form an opinion of a movie before you watch it
>>215292179It was about female nature. Their fear of aging and anything to become younger looking, firstly. Secondly at their stupidity with how when given eternal youth, they still fuck it up.

>>215286678Ends is irredeemable. Here's how I would do it, off the top of my head>Michael is living in a sewer eating rats>Laurie is wheelchair bound, side character at best>Little girl (new character) discovers Michael passed out, basically incapacitated>Little girl nurses him back to health, from a distance - she sometimes thinks he's dangerous but is unsure>She gives Michael a pet. Unbeknownst to her he kills it. >He then kills a stray homeless man, appearing to gain strength>Girl brings back her older brother, whom Michael kills>Girl now runs for her life with Michael in chase>Chaos ensues around the town, Evil Dies Tonight.jpg>The ending is a protracted war between Michael and Allyson>Both are brutally wounded>Michael goes through a series of horrific stabbings etc, and ends up in a river>Before Allyson can kill him, he floats away while she screams as she wants resolution of his death>The audience actually gets to see several scenes of further brutality of Michael has he goes over a cliff, is impaled by a branch etc. and finally, actually see his death as he's smashed on a rock>At the end Laurie delivers a speech that life is not about resolution, it's about perseverance
