80s directors were obsessed with the 50s, I guess because it was their childhood. Every movie has some flashback where whatever horror has been unleashed actually started in the 50s. Seems like there was a similar nostalgia for the 80s in recent years, although zoomers seems to hate 80s movies, but probably watch stranger things that's set in the 80s.
