saw good boy last nightit was pretty goodmy initial thoughts was that the film was going to be a lot more ambiguous as to whether not the dog would know what a ghost was, like the dog was like a metaphor for the audience watching schlocky horror pictures, but we understand within the first like 30 seconds that dogs just can see ghosts and this dog is an actual character carrying its own logic and motivation. movie also makes an effort to point out that this dog isn't special and the only that can see ghosts, all dogs can see ghosts.well acted. really well shot, many scenes where they felt confident just pulling the camera really far away capturing everything in a very atmospheric way.had a lot of stuff i don't think you'd really pay attention to or know how to interpret on an initial viewing, like the claw marks on the door leading up from the basement.don't think i have much negative to say about it other than the story being kinda overly simple and that a lot of normies would probably find this kind of horror film boring, doesn't have an overabundance of jumpscares or scary monsters chasing characters around, just a lot of well placed shadows and silhouettes.all in all a pretty good movie with a well executed plot with an ending that doesn't make you feel miserable

Just finished. You could choose worse for a live action adaptation of Vampirella than the director of Sorority House Massacre 2. Vampi's over the top sexiness is expectedly and unfortunately toned down, but she does still spend most of the movie in what is basically a fetish swimsuit (when she's not covered up by a trenchcoat.) Talisa Soto is beautiful but not the exaggerated voluptuous sexpot she would need to be to do the character justice. The premise is delightful cornball stupidity, making Vampi more or less Vampire Superman. She's an orphan from a vampire planet, and vampirism on Earth was installed by a Vampiric General Zod who colonized the planet milennia ago. Roger Daltry plays that villain, and he relishes in going all out as a pulpy sneering comic book villain. He even gets to wear the traditional Dracula cape during the climax. The plot is something to do with vampires blocking out the Sun using satellites so that they can finally conquer Earth, LMFAOThere's a HOT scene where Vampi is deprived of the artificial blood she subsists on and thrown into a dungeon with her human love interest, the villains fully conscious that after 24 hours without it, she'll revert to her animalistic vampiric state and bleed the human dry or die. She chains herself up to protect him, but eventually loses control and breaks her restraints, primally desperate to drain her boyfriend (ᵕ • ᴗ •)I had a wholesome good time with this movie, and Vampirella still has a lot of potential as a property. I'm warily enthusiastic about Sydney Sweeney's upcoming take on Barbarella, but imho she should've set her sights on this space sexpot instead

>>215518332is it similar to Skinamarink, but with a dog instead of kids?
>>215518332Ending was bad, a dog can't be just a by stander in a film, he has to rescue his owner if the dog is main character, this is just jewish subversion about dogs. If you put literally any other animal instead of a dog, would have been the exact film. They made the dog an useless retard. Fuck you.

This was very kino (even with the restored edition with missing scenes, some moments are not fixed, as when the new girl rescues the boy from the boiling room then suddenly is like they have meet several times, those scenes are missing). But very nice film, even if you can discover half-ending. 7/10. Bonus point for she making my peepee hard
>>215523921no, it's like a conventional horror film except it follows a dog instead of a human

>>215524826Isn't ET one of the reasons for PG ratings?
>>215524921>No, E.T. is not a reason for PG ratings; the film was released in 1982 and was rated PG. The PG rating existed before the film's release. The creation of the PG-13 rating in 1984 is sometimes attributed to films that were considered too intense for a PG rating but did not have enough material for an R, such as Gremlins and Poltergeistmy AI overlord said no
>>215524972i always thought it was gremlins or temple of doom
>>215524972Yeah I misremembered that Spielberg proposed pg13 after making Temple of Doom later

Everyone told me pic related is terrible so I gave up on this entire franchise for over a decade. I decided to marathon these after seeing VHS Halloween get hyped up, and honestly, pic related is pretty good, and ironically much better than Halloween and even the original VHS. The magician story is embarrassing and retarded but the other two main segments (satanic parallel universe and skaters vs zombies) are two of the best in the whole franchise. I'm baffled everyone hates this so much but loves Halloween for being "campy" (aka cheap dogshit)

Why do Japanese directors dwarf everyone else in movies made? Miike is over a hundred, Shiraishi is over 30, etc.
>>215526266I wonder when he got bitten by the video game bug. What games.
>>215526302Japanese Video Industry make movies for penauts and you can basically do 1 per month
>>215526338With that logic, you'd assume they'd hire lesser known directors since they can pay them far less as opposed to those that have a following and charge more.
>>215526302The Japanese people need their escapism for living in J*p*n.

>>215526440Isn't that why salarymen openly read hentai in public spaces, trains, etc.?
>>215526302Kenichi Ugana released 3 films just this year.
>>215526454What's your point? It has nothing to do with him being a known name in the industry, which would follow that he would cost more than an unknown. If you're making movies on the cheap, you either can't afford him or are blowing 90% of your budget on him.
>>215526237hes me
>>215525184>>215525208Yeah, the entire franchise is polarizing across the board. Best to just start at the beginning and keep going if you find a segment or two worthwhile. Most of them have something fun along the way.
>>215526302There's arguably no comparable home video market in other parts of the world. Rental stores were perpetually starved for new video titles, and the constant need for new material is what allowed some Japanese directors to rack up these big numbers.
>>215525184>>215525208They're all pretty bad with 1 or 2 segments that are worth your time.I think 94 is the only one that is consistently okay with nothing terrible in it.
