What are some other good actually scary movies like The Conjuring, Sinister and Insidious? I've seen shit like Weapons, Midsummer, Hereditary, Black Phone and Talk To Me but they weren't scary in the slightest. First IT was pretty good but the second was laughably bad and too long.

People will answer with something in his undisputed top 10 but really anything after Opera is underrated because of the narrative of it all being slop after that.

I love Stendhal and I love The Card Player especially. I wish Asia had been in it, it was supposed to be a sequel to Stendhal with her character.

Most underrated Carpenter for me is Village of the Damned or Ghosts of Mars.
>>

He isn’t wrong. The average age of the users on the internet has gone up a lot. There are tons of boomers and millennials even on tiktock.
The problem isn’t their age, but more their attitude. Boomers because they think they are always right and soillenials because they have the “i have purpose in life” attitude and talk like they are worthy.
I find it a little annoying cause statistically speaking, they are worth nothing, American median household income is 70k and yet they love speaking with authority and know it all.

I always thought it was just the fact that his movies were in large part great due to the architecture and interior design so when NuRome arrived he had to stop filming with his baroque style and just embrace the ugliness. I remember reading from the guy who directed Amelie that he can’t make a sequel because of all the shitty new buildings and construction sites in Paris, the city doesn’t look good on camera anymore.
I watched Toolbox Murders by Tobe Hooper and he switched his style up to hyper aggressive shaky cam slasher gore too in the 00s. TCSM is dreamy and slow and beautiful to watch but you can’t do that in a dogshit damp apartment building I guess lol

>>215660633
The dialog is actually extremely pointed. All the talk about planets in retrograde and horoscopes is the major theme of the film, with the solar flares over the beginning credits, the heat wave, all the radio talk about different crazy and horrible events that are happening concurrently with the film, it’s all about how the universe is in decay and the planets are exerting a cosmic force on humanity which causes everyone to become insane. It’s like a localised cosmic horror movie. I love the extreme close up shot of Sally’s eye where it recalls the surface of the sun shown in the beginning.

Pissjeet’s abject terror at the prospect of getting old is funny, you can tell he won’t be able to look in the mirror anymore when he spots the first line on his forehead. Downer endings in horror movies is such a tired stereotype that this otherwise mediocre film permanently branded itself in my mind because of how fucking triumphant the good ending was
I know there's been a decade of failed attempts to continue the story and I hope they never do because it'll never end better than it did right there

that incredibly generic "ending" where the survivors are tended by paramedics while it's revealed the Collector escaped because he has magic keikaku powers like Jigsaw
that epilogue where they show another house being stalked and you think it's starting again but it's the fucking Collector's own cute little normalfag suburban house, our hero Arkin has found him and beats him to death in broad daylight in his godamn living room while howling FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU

I legit jumped up out of my chair

Giallo was the only 'gento I genuinely found it hard to watch. Dracula 3D was pretty painful too but at least there are Asia boobies in it and it's kinda funny how astoundingly shit he is at digital photography.
I'm glad he made Dark Glasses and didn't end on such a bum note.

Every time I watch one of the critically reviled Carpenkinos I'm like wtf this is awesome. I thought The Ward was decent. His 90s-00s run is kick ass. Just as the critictards were wrong about The Thing in the 80s and they eventually came around, so too will they pretend like they always enjoyed Ghosts of Mars and Village of the Damned. I am a bit reticent to watch the Invisible Man movie because it doesn't seem like it will be good but I'll probably come out thinking it's kino like I always do with The Master.

>>215663665
She is beyond cute in this movie. I noticed on a rewatch that Patricia keeps calling herself the wrong name "Kirsten" which was her name in the original script but they changed it to Kristen for the final draft.

I know I'm late but I just got around to watching Black Phone, best movie of the binge for sure. Somehow I knew the move was gonna be great but always avoided it because it seemed really heavy because child abductions are way more depressing than stupid young adults being slaughtered. Glad I went ahead and checked it out though, its an instant horror classic.

It's not exactly horror but the body horror in the Chernobyl mini-series was pretty scary. It was based off true accounts too, one of the technicians was so badly irradiated that he was described as not having a face anymore (not because it fell off, but because it was so contorted and damaged from the radiation that it didn't count as a face).

The official accounts of Hisashi Ouchi from a different disaster were also horrifying. He was described as living inside a bag of skin, as it had completely disconnected from his body and became like a very loose suit.

'The Mummy' Reboot Retitled THE RETURNED

>After his missing daughter mysteriously returns eight years later, a father discovers she carries the spirit of an ancient Egyptian mummy, and as the evil spreads to his other child, he must perform a deadly ritual to save them, even if it means becoming the monster himself.

https://comicbookmovie.com/monsters/mummy/the-mummy-reboot-reportedly-gets-a-new-title-first-synopsis-reveals-surprising-plot-details-a224617

You can tell most directors and people in general are inexperienced simp even through movies. I was watching Aenigma from Lucia Fulci and in the beginning, there is a scene with some handsome jock dude and he is supposed to play the role of some guy that the bullied girl is really into but he is only faking his interest. Thing is, he makes the move on her and she doesn’t look interested and only after, when it is revealed that other people involved in other cars can hear her say
>oooo i been waiting for thisss
does the viewer find out it was supposed to be her interested in him and he was only pretending.
Like even famous directors who are supposed to be attractive to girls have no idea about anything.
Like in that scene, even though the jock was supposed to not be interested, it was filmed in a way where it looked like she was not interested and playing hard to get and he looked desperate.
>>
>>215666709
>a father discovers she carries the spirit of an ancient Egyptian mummy
So there's not going to be an actual mummy in it then? It's a fucking ghost? What bullshit, fuck off.

most people do not get to marry the woman they loved the most in life. simping is older than human beings. also directors in general are dweebs. chads dont have to do art.
>>
>>215666818
My point is even with status, millions and billions, most men are just low status no matter and nothing will ever change that when it comes to women. Like for the majority of men, even if they get status, millions and billions, they will just be seen as dollar signs by women.

No but in this scene, he was supposed to be pretending to be interested in her. He was supposed to a super stud. But in the scene, it was filmed in a way where he is making moves on her but she is acting not interested. My main point is directors dont even know to film that scene properly cause they dont have experience. But I get what your post is saying. You rarely see man makes moves masculinly scenes in movies cause most men/directors have no idea. That is why it is called “getting lucky” cause most males have no idea how to lead 100%.
Irl, and in movies, the men go through a humiliation ritual and get screened to make sure he has some betaness in him so the girl can get some stuff from him in exchange for sex.
>>
>>215666866
> act pathetic, obsessed with her, and willing to let her humiliate you.
This is legit how most married couples are but the husband never noticed it. Cucks, simps and females rule the present world.
Some guy on tiktock made a video where he interviewed shopped standing around waiting on their wives. It was meant to be comedy content but those men standing next to their carts waiting on their wives looked like the most pathetic creatures.
