Cameron shot himself in the foot by splitting the first sequel into two parts. Avatar 2 and 3 feel like more of the same and it's not even that great. The franchise seems to be losing momentum as a result. We could realistically have had Avatar 4 by 2027, and it likely would have cleared $2 billion without much trouble. Instead, it’s unclear how pleased Disney really is with the recent box office numbers, and there’s a real possibility that this could be the end of the saga, meaning we may never see Avatar 4 at all.

>>217170505big changes in progression, set and story. Avatar 4 is apparently just that, even Cameron said Avatar 4 could stand on its on without viewing past movies. I mean what is the purpose of the sequels, humans and navis fighting on and on and on ? Already two sequels and we know nothing new about Eywa for example, there is more to the story than characters development.

I don't see Cameron saying that Eywa is a goddess, I don't see him putting magic in his movies. All the movies that I have watched from him are about technology. It will be either and AI, but that would be very complicated to explain or just a being product of the connection of all life on Pandora. I think the last one is the more likely to be.
>>217170435>We could realistically have had Avatar 4 by 2027, and it likely would have cleared $2 billion without much trouble. Instead, it’s unclear how pleased Disney really is with the recent box office numbers, and there’s a real possibility that this could be the end of the saga, meaning we may never see Avatar 4 at all.Mate, I don't know how to tell you gently, but the film has already passed $1 billion. Its guaranteed profits for Disney, there is no way in hell they wouldn't make more, even if one of the conditions for that is making another Alita movie in the meantime.
>>217170382Btw, he started caressing her kuru first in this scene. Cameron is a genius making them big blue cats with sensitive contact organ looking like a braid. Both Kiri and Spider essentially rubbed each other's dick/vagina there.
>>217170634eywa is a naturally occurring consciousness on pandora in the mycelium networks. Eywa has some degree of control over the trees with mycelium connections, but this isn't apparent because trees can't movea long time ago, eywa slowly modified soul trees with the best connection to produce seeds that can modify the nervous system of animals to be able to connect to the mycelium network. Every animal with a queue had ancestors that were modified by eywa's seeds. The na'vi however are not native to pandora. They were once a human ancestral species that colonized pandora and seeded earth with proto-humans that evolved for millions of years on earth after. The ancestors who settled on pandora were slowly assimilated by eywa, who also made them blue. They originally looked like humans.
So far, nothing has been resolved. Humans will continue to hunt tulkuns and attempt to kidnap Spider for experimentation, and kill Jake Sully or kidnap his children. That is the story so far.
>>217170897So there was another species that arrived to Pandora from another planet, then created humans on Earth and then evolved to become Na'vi?
>>217170769I bet your dick twitched when you saw her dead eyes. When you saw Neytiri half lobotomized in her funeral garments. The same garments she wore to grieve the loss of her eldest son. You sick twisted fuck.
>>217170961they probably arrived on earth first and seeded it, and then found pandora and decided to settle there. Or they just seeded pandora too
>>217170902Yeah, this is why I'm not taking seriously those news about non greenlighting 4 and 5.This kind of stuff is different from other franchise movies. It's one guy's project that brought in about x6 profits and eho had clear vision on the proper pentalogy. Third movie absolutely doesn't look like proper conclusion to the story. Not even a book would do it's justice. It is frankly feels less of closure than TWoW. They are baiting in order to boost sales, simple as.
>>217170875Alita flopped, so why make a sequel? These films are incredibly expensive, and even a billion dollars isn’t enough anymore. The Avatar sequels are also bound to earn less and less—they’ve already lost momentum with Fire and Ash. Two movies focused on tulkuns is simply too much.
>"I will eat your heart, Quaritch"How is she so goddamn sexy??
>>217170991So they looked like humans? How does the seeding process work?
Sorry for repeating the question from yesterday, but now there are probably more people that can actually respond.Do we have any native Spanish speakers here? My Spanish is decent, but I can't place Oona's Spanish. Zoe speaks with a beautiful Caribbean accent, but Oona sounds like a Spaniard, but not exactly, like she's pronouncing the words more clearly than a typical Spaniard would. Her dad is Chilean, but I'm not sure if it has influence on the way she speaks, keep in mind that she's also part British and is bilingual like Anya Taylor-Joy.https://youtu.be/vzRzSsnPiYU?si=4jRb1iwGitNVKCJD

>>217170435It's absolutely true that A2 was Avatar's long-awaited return and having it be a sort of transitionary setup to A3 (with a random whaling plot) wasn't good for momentum. Most people turned out for A2 despite its trailers indicating it wasn't as grand and hype as A1, and less people turned out for A3 after finding something in A2 lacking, despite A3 turning out to be the payoff for everything in 2, a return to A1's form and rich with characterization.HOWEVER, the inertia from Avatar's initial momentum is simply so great that A3 is still raking in the billies, and with its viral characters and good word of mouth is stoking interest in the franchise. At this point A3 is guaranteed to be successful enough to greenlight A4, and A4 is supposedly the hypest of all the entries. Assuming the trailers reflect this and marketing is on point, it may even beat A3's gross.

Military bureaucracy proactively gets in the way of both diplomatic and combat action against the Na'vi, and Quaritch saves their bacon going AWOL to rally the Ashies to 3rd party the big setpiece ambush battle. The next film will have two civil wars between the humans, and the Na'vi at once. And human settlers themselves might want political independence as well. Sully winning over Blue-Quaritch is the big Star Warsy payoff, even if it's merely detente against humans. Quaritch & Varang making the case for a planetary Eldritch hive mind maybe not being totally benevolent (or impinging on free will) is the other side of the coin. >>217172432>>217172539It was really guttural too.

>Ash People's volcanic homeland>Bridgehead>gigantic sky creaturesWhy did Cameron ignore all that and make the final battle a rerun of TWOW?
>>217172583The blimps would've been utterly useless against guns. They were useless against arrows.
>>217172559>ACK! But at least Recom Quaritch will put an end to these damn dirty xenophiles!
>>217172396>>217172465This is exactly why I feel there's an important scene missing. From Quaritch's POV, the last time he sees Sully he 100% knows he is controlling an Avatar and the real body is vulnerable in a trailer. Blue Quaritch never once questions this or asks "hey, where's your crippled body?" He just brings in the Avatar and job complete. Doesn't even ask Jake how he did it when they're talking in the swamp or in prison.
>>217172633I guess the assumption is that in the 15 years since, the RDA's advanced observation capabilities have pieced it together that Jake is never human anymore.Rebel forces may have even told the RDA so when they overran Hell's Gate and exiled them off-world.>it was Neytiri personally bragging to the assembled prisoners that her Jake isn't a filthy pinker anymore
>>217172719nm I just remembered the transfer only happens after the humans are gone. RIP funny imagery.
>>217172579Jake's hair is so fucked in this battle scene. I initially didn't like his new dreads either but in Fire and Ash he is the best he has ever looked.
imagine if next time we see Quaritch hes got long flowing locks on hair and hes basically a wild man.
>>217172832Quaritch is more or less an evil Thunderheart
>>217172633When the RDA returns a huge number of the humans who stayed on Pandora defect back to the RDA, and they certainly knew Jake permanently transferred into his avatar
>>217171618Varangsisters, our response...
Biblical Imaginery -"Eywa" = "Yahweh", a simple reversal of the abrahmic sky daddy god.-The character name "Grace Augustine" is fully loaded with christianity. "Grace" is a specific theological state where you get right with god. Augustine was a theologian and saint.-In the third movie, one of the Ash people pokes Quaritch in his obliques with a spear, drawing a bit of blood. This is like the Lance of Longinus for Evangelion fans, or: the holy spear.-Varang's tight little horizontal binder is sometimes worn with a vertical stripe of paint or paints, clearly forming a cross.-The third film specifically makes general appeals to faith and belief, especially the opening argument between Jake and Ney (and Jake really ought to know better, since he lived the proof of his god at the climax of the first film).-In the first film, when the much larger Neytiri cradles Jake's weak human body, this pose is taken directly from the Pieta (mary cradles the dead jesus). The Michelangelo sculpture is the best known example, but it's a genre thing with other instances.-"Tulkun". The sound of this word is suspiciously close to the jewish theological concept of "tikkun". In rough strokes, the jewish/kabbalastic notion of tikkun is: the world is broken and wrong, and various troublesome things in the world (qlippoth) obstruct our clear view of reality. Therefore, we should endeavor to repair the broken world that we inhabit.-And then of course, the Na'vi are waging jihad against the occupying humans. You can stretch it any way you like, but the abrahamist stuff is a major informer.
>>217173081also the spiritual prophet girl is a virgin birth from a Navi woman, pretty on the nose, its a girl jesus to call the mother nature god instead of a boy jesus to preach the gospel of sky daddy god
>>217173153She also "resurrects" Spider after he stops breathing
>>217172908Kek no.
>"the alien tribes consistently hit us from above using aerial strikes">"damn, if only there was some way we could protect ourselves from that"
>>217173081What about the sacrifice of Spider being Abraham and Isaac?
>>217173081And you conclude from that that Jim is promoting Christianity, rather than taking a fat shit on its head?
>>217173244you didn't watch the movie huh?

>>217169845>you're next cupcakeGigachad.
>>217172396>when you nut and varang keeps sucking
>>217173301>Selfridge comes back to Pandora>you guys brought WHO back to life?! Do you not know what that guy did to me?! You can't trust him!If only they'd listened to Parker
>>217172451She's the grand daughter of a famous actor, so she's about as upper class as you get.
>>217173006Varang got Spider first. Nothing Kiri does can change that.
>>217172633At this rate, I don't think Recom Quaritch and the RDA really care for Jake's human body as much as they do for his Avatar, which is the one that's actually leading the Na'vi into battle in the front lines. Not to go off tangent, but a part of me thinks the RDA knew that the current Avatar Jake's consciousness is in is the only Avatar he has, and that neither him nor the scientists at High Camp had the knowledge or the tools and resources to clone more Avatar bodies. Based on this speculation, they knew that just capturing Jake's Avatar would more than suffice in dealing the Na'vi a crippling setback, with Jake's title as Toruk Makto stripped from him from him no longer able to ride the Toruk and unite the scattered Na'vi tribes. Or so much as walk or breathe the Pandoran air in his crippled body. Jake losing his Avatar and being permanently stuck in his human body ALONE would heavily fragment the anti-RDA resistance and further alienate him from the indigenous Na'vi populace. I guess he could still make calls and strategize and train the Na'vi as a human from the far back, but the momentum would be nowhere near the same. The same momentum that won him major battles in 1 and 3 (putting aside Eywa's interventions of course).
>Avatar 4They will met a tribe of desert na'vis and will be used as metaphors for jews, muslims, indians and aussie abos. They do a thing called tailcut in which they cut their neuro tail's hairs leaving only the tentacles outside.>Avatar 4Na'vi of the ice, eskimos and sami anologies, they kill alien seals and even though the others navis find it horrible they will say how it's part of their culture and social right.>Avatar 4Na'Vis will enter the space age and become like the humans they fought so badly.Pandora will be polluted, they will start colonizing another planet. And so the cycle starts again. Also Eywa will be proved to be a neuro-abomination that sent it's spores on earth and created the myth of God, Jesus, Zeus, Odin, Shiva, Quetzalcoatl and whatever else there is.
>>217173244>expecting a bloated megacorp where 90% of its vehicle roster is multipurpose industrial gear to start retrofitting its heli fleet with dorsal turrets>expecting this after one singular loss that Selfridge took the fall for and which featured an inexhaustible horde of fauna that would have overwhelmed the fleet anywayIt's like you think this is a nation's mobilized military actively trying to invade and conquer a world. The whaling fleet wasn't expecting the second coming of Toruk Makto. There wasn't even a precedent to expect any banshee riders, just some reef clan resistance to a big whale harvest.
>>217173437Why does Toruk have two vaginas on his chest?
>>217173297improvised firing points vs purpose-built AA are two very separate things. With the resources of bridgehead they could design and build airframes with 360 coverage
>>217173397how many years will it take Spider to work up the courage to ask Kiri to ride him in Mangkwan warpaint
>>217173489it's how the animals breathe
>>217173458If a crackhead keeps breaking into my building to steal copper I'm going to invest in some security. Rent-a-cops are better than nothing. Attacks from Irkan are a known threat. I'm not saying every aircraft has to have 27 integrated ball turrets that can shoot skyward at once. But something that provides just a little overhead security would be better than nothing. Maybe a little airburst grenade launcher or something. The fishing fleet should've had at least one or two AA guns.
>>217173508>spending Bridgehead resources DIY retrofitting all the air transport with banshee AA despite none of the locals even riding them>instead of spending them, say, building BridgeheadYou're not making it up the corporate ladder.
>>217173397Confirmed, Varang will always be his first. Kiri will feel vanilla by comparison.
>>217173437Makes sense. You'd think they would try to scramble or detect the signals that control Avatars. They're not supposed to be able to work from an indefinite distance away. They had to fly the trailer really far out to be closer to what they were doing. If Jake lost his blue body permanently, I doubt even Neytiri could keep loving him for long
>>217173619>What's going on Step-mommy Varang?>You're getting your Kuru sucked, kid!
>>217173571But this isn't a crackhead neighborhood. Even back in the jungle, the natives' guerrilla action was limited. With corporate bureaucracy and stinginess, extensive contingencies to save expendable equipment and personnel simply aren't on the table. Look at those goofy exoframes they have personnel going around in with zero protective elements.Wait until 4, when Sully's threat level is high again, the RDA is nervous about how Quaritch is arming savages and Pandoran colonization prospects just got better than ever. If Jim doesn't have the humans taking things more seriously I'll be bitching alongside you.
Jake makes some funny old man noises when the magnetic vortex takes his rifle away
>>217173571The RDA isn't military. It's a mining operation. War is expensive, they're there to make money not spend it. The attacks aren't constant. The Sullies run away in the first act of WoW and the RDA is left completely alone until Neytiri comes to rescue MaJake. The final battle in 3 wasn't them riding to battle it was just a massive fishing op. Quaritch was telling Ardmore that Jake would surely be there but she had no reason to believe him
>>217173619Delete that, sky man.
>>217173508ofc, but that's not a fun narrative. like how drone strikes and drones in general aren't used but this is a universe where you can transfer consciousnesses between human and na'vi hybrid bodies fucking telepathically like magical wifi lol

It was a cool ride but basically just Soarin' with a different video so I wasn't super impressed but I bet I would adore it now. The whole Avatar land in Animal Kingdom is really amazing though and I really wish I could recommend you anons to go but I can't in got conscience recommended you go to Disney world in the big 2026. It's just so absurdly over priced and such a shittier, dirty, overly crowded experience than it used to be, what it should be
>>217174939Fake and gay. There is no blue woman Quaritch fears more than Neytiri. He sees her as an insane headhuntress demon sent straight from Hell to claim his soul a second time. Neytiri may be the only person he fears period.Even after Varang mindrapes him he delivers himself into her camp, lets her drug him and giggles at her threats to eat his heart or enslave him.

>>217173571it's not trying to be realistic, just to evoke the aesthetic. you have to suspend disbelief to explain every aspect of their military, and that's fine for a movie like this.we can put systems like M-LIDS on 4x4s today, and they're self contained solutions that could be slapped onto any airframe that can physically support it, the RDA doesn't have them or even remote weapon systems at all because that's not the kind of story this is
I just got back from the imax theater. Not feeling this one navibros. I liked Way of water but this one just feels more of the same which I know gets thrown around a lot about this franchise but seriously it got old. Multiple points where I'm thoroughly disappointed in the movie's inability to do anything new or interesting. Jake not killing spider (which was kind of stupid by that point anyway, Quaritch already had him analyzed), , Quaritch "To Be Continued..."-ing himself at the end until the 4th movie just had me physically disgusted. If I see one more fucking ayylien whale in Avatar 4 im going to start killing whales in real life.Too much water in my "Fire and ash" movie. Seriously, feels just like bonus content for the 2nd movie. The final battle was repetitive because we basically saw it already. The first fight with the air traders was wayy better, wish it was more like that.I honestly hope this one doesn't meet expectations and they just rush the plot of 4 instead of dripfeeding the quaritch vs. RDA thing they barely scratched the surface of here.I also saw multiple groups leave the theater early. Like straight up 4-5 groups. Group of like 10 left half way through. Theater wasn't packed but it was a decent showing.
>>217176138You'd have to be a moron to think Spider was going to die when he's such a pivotal character to Kiri and Quaritch. That doesn't mean the scene was worthless. It resolved the ugly hatred brewing in Neytiri and with both her and Jake failing to put the greater good above Spider, cemented his belonging. He also probably pissed himself, which was an important development for my sides. The only real quibble with the scene is that yeah, even if keeping Spider would be very helpful for the RDA, it's not like they're not going to be running to the shareholders with proof humans can breathe Pandoran air just because they lost the living specimen. It would have been hard to switch the ordering given the emotional pacing to make it make sense, so best to just handwave it that Jake is a jarhead and Neytiri gets it even less so they're just incorrect about killing Spider doing anything to stop what's coming.
>>217176340It also completed the "A son for a son" arc, with Jake and Neytiri now both accepting Spider, they gained another victory against Quaritch. And Kiri and the other kids would never forgive them if they ever found out that they murdered Spider. Only complete retards could think that Spider was going to die there, the actual tension in that scene was us not knowing if Jake was going to stop on his own, or will it be Neytiri who stops him. And by making her arrive a moment too late, we as the audience know tha both Jake and Neyney might talk the talk, but they are absolutely not the kind of people to murder a kid who did nothing wrong.
>>217176340I guess, when you put it that way it sounds better. Still not even really sold on spider as a macguffin or whatever. There are already a billion reasons why humans would want to colonize the planet, spider's power doesn't seem that revolutionary
>>217168194I wasn’t asking who it was, nitwit
>>217176627The prospect that you're a battery-powered mask away from dying on Pandora isn't a palatable one for someone thinking of living there permanently. Imagine the hassle of taking multiple children outside. It's like living on a space station, and there's the fear of what could happen in an emergency. The prospect of breathing the air is great marketing for a colonization push of a much wider scope. This idea of cyberpunk Earth probably doesn't reflect the IRL development of global birth rate collapse, there's probably double digit billions living on a poisonous, decaying slum world and virtually anyone who can afford to would want out to a fantastical alien paradise, if it wasn't deadly. It's tight enough for a plot point anyway. There's always been a list of shit you need to handwave with Avatar. Like the whales. Focus all of your impatience with Avatar into the immortality elixir sentient whales and freely enjoy the rest of the franchise. That's what I did between 2 and 3 and I'm having a good time again.
>>217176627Humans breathing the atmosphere is probably the most dramatic plot point in the series yet, I was pretty impressed with it and didn't see it coming, especially with how it made use of the seed. I always assumed there would be a complicated terraforming attempt at some point but this was much neater and more spiritual.
>>217176138I watched it yesterday but in 2D. I enjoyed it for what it was. In itself it's a very entertaining movie, 3 hours flew by, I was thoroughly invested. But it didn't advance the world too much. But that's a minor issue for me. It felt like the only actual movie made in the last years.
