Is frontiers of pandora worth playing?
I dont like Avatar and yet I kinda do. Im not at the crazed fan level, though I admire their passion. I just like James Cameron, and don't doubt him. I've enjoyed all 3 films, and have no issue seeing more of these movies.
Is it worth playing, seeing as it is ubishit.
Didn't care for the last far cry, dont care for assassins creed at all, enjoyed Breakpoint with the world adjusting (minimal robit shit, shorter ttk, no rpg scaling shit)
>>
>>217149316
yeah for me it was an amazing hint of an elevated story to come. What would Quaritch become? It was so exciting, and 3 confirmed to me that we will got get something truly amazing. For all of camerons kino qualities he lacks in the story department.

Neytiri won.

If you're neither a fan of Avatar, nor a fan of Far Cry, you won't like it. It is Avatar: Far Cry.

Cameron knows normies go to see popcorn flicks for spectacle. You dont make a billion putting out the Before Trilogy but with Na'vi. He knows what people gravitate towards; familia Fast and Furious style

Sky beams had gone out of fashion for a while, they were more of a 2010s blockbuster thing. In Fire and Ash I wish it was explained a nonzero amount why the flux was there, but otherwise had no issue with it

Is this a cultural thing? Only the Americans seem to have a problem with going to the theaters alone. I personally prefer going on my own and prefer morning showings because the theaters are empty, best way to experience a movie. Biblical Imaginery

-"Eywa" = "Yahweh", a simple reversal of the abrahmic sky daddy god.
-The character name "Grace Augustine" is fully loaded with christianity. "Grace" is a specific theological state where you get right with god. Augustine was a theologian and saint.
-In the third movie, one of the Ash people pokes Quaritch in his obliques with a spear, drawing a bit of blood. This is like the Lance of Longinus for Evangelion fans, or: the holy spear.
-Varang's tight little horizontal binder is sometimes worn with a vertical stripe of paint or paints, clearly forming a cross.
-The third film specifically makes general appeals to faith and belief, especially the opening argument between Jake and Ney (and Jake really ought to know better, since he lived the proof of his god at the climax of the first film).
-In the first film, when the much larger Neytiri cradles Jake's weak human body, this pose is taken directly from the Pieta (mary cradles the dead jesus). The Michelangelo sculpture is the best known example, but it's a genre thing with other instances.
-"Tulkun". The sound of this word is suspiciously close to the jewish theological concept of "tikkun". In rough strokes, the jewish/kabbalastic notion of tikkun is: the world is broken and wrong, and various troublesome things in the world (qlippoth) obstruct our clear view of reality. Therefore, we should endeavor to repair the broken world that we inhabit.
-And then of course, the Na'vi are waging jihad against the occupying humans. You can stretch it any way you like, but the abrahamist stuff is a major informer.

I feel like Toruk wasn't half the size of the Dragon in the first film.
>>
I’ve only ever watched cam rips of these movies, my goal is to be on my deathbed and watch as many as possible on blu ray before I join the trees
>>
>>217157974
According to the wiki Toruk is 20m/60ft long so it's a pretty huge bird, twice the size of a tyrannosaurus.
>>
>>217157796
>Our hearts. I can't think of a woman in fiction more deserving of love and happiness
After her growth in FaA, how she immediately rushed to save her husband, even though it was a suicide mission and after how she accepted Spider as her family she's no doubt best girl, best wife and mother of the first 1/4 of this century's fiction.
>>
>>217158052
Isn't rex upwards of 50 feet?
>Toruk 19m/62 feet long, 24m/79+-foot wingspan
>C-21 Dragon 41.5m/136 feet long, 31.7m/104 feet wide
Seems like Toruk is a bit bigger in scale than those measurements, then again it says Jake's Toruk specifically was 24m during A1 and they can get up to 30m, so maybe it's grown over those 15 years.
It's been a while since I watched A1 but I don't remember seeing a good scale comparison of Toruk up next to the gunship, maybe it's just my perception. A1's Dragon seemed massive.
>>

It was pretty neat how Spider didn't panic while he was RDA's prisoner in TWOW. He was staying sharp, learned everything he could possibly learn from then, absorbing any informatin that might come in handy later, memorizing the layout and controls of the ship. It actually paid off when he sabotaged the ship and knew where to take Jake once they went to rescue the girls.

Jake literally spends most of the first movie unable to take care of himself, having to be under Neytiri's watch like a toddler. It can be argued that Neyney and Omatikaya molded him into Toruk Macto, because without them he'd still be an ignorant idiot who couldn't last a night alone on Pandora.

The true moral of these films is honestly pretty beautiful. If you want cute alien pussy, just be a goofy white man and you'll find your Na'vi wife.
>>
>>217160142
>They should have transferred to become full Na'vi and been Jake's squad.
That's an extremely risky process, Jake was Eywa's chosen one, other humans may not survive the transfer, and then you would be left with a deadweight Avatar that cannot be used. They are also probably used sparingly, they are multi-billion dollar assets that they cannot replace if lost.

I just thought of a scene that would have been neat: The RDA humans never really question anything about Kiri and just assume she is Jake's child. It would be interesting if Lyle is around her for whatever reason and something just keeps bugging him that he can't figure out until suddenly it clicks and he says, "...Dr. Augustine?!" And she's like "Lyle?" Kek. It would be funny if he recognizes her even if she doesn't recognize him. They worked closely even if she didn't like people with guns. Maybe in the next movie when she's older.

I caught up with Avatar 2 and 3 after more than a decade of watching the first one in my teens. And now I see it with different eyes.
>No matter how much some ideologues (on both sides) tell you that this movie is anti-white or anti-human propaganda, it is totally the opposite, because there is nothing that makes us more human than being in relationship with God (Religion)
>The inhabitants of Pandora symbolize God's new people, while humanity symbolizes the previous people who ended up turning their backs on God, destroying themselves as a result
>The “First communion” in Avatar symbolizes the sacrament of baptism. Several times in the films, it is mentioned that it is “being born for the first time.” The Catholic Church has always taught that baptism is the second and most important birth because it elevates you from a mere creature to a child of God
>Dr. Grace Augustine does not have that name by mere coincidence. Grace refers to the “state of grace,” that state in which you are in communion with God. St. Augustine is one of the most important DOCTORS of the church.
>And St. Augustine is one of those who deals with “just war.” He mentions that there are two types of enemies, the private enemy and the public enemy. It is the latter against whom we are obliged to use violence. As he says in one of his works, “In a just war, he who does not kill sins.” In a just war, he who does not use violence against the evil enemy is the one who is sinning. I mention this because it is the central theme with the Tulkun, who refused to fight, claiming that all violence is evil

>I am still unclear about Spider's role. He could be the first Pope, in whom Kiri (Christ) founded her church through his lineage, symbolizing that now anyone, regardless of race, can choose to be a child of Eywa
>>
>>217161336
No, really. It's literally like that. Also, can't they just go the other side of the planet and do their shit there instead of mining EXACTLY where jake and the na'vi are? It would be better to just expand in a place where they aren't around and build a force there capable of standing ground instead of just giving them the time to organize and attack the humans again.

Anon, TLOR, for example, is the perfect fantasy adventure. It is more subtle in its Catholic symbolism, without showing churches or focusing on religion, etc., and no one can deny that it is a Catholic work. Tolkien himself affirms this in one of his letters from 1953, where he says that his work is deeply religious and Catholic.

Yep, it's that stormtrooper effect. Once there's a bunch of them, they have to die in droves to our good guys. The human forces should have been making mince meat of the Na'vi. And they certainly should have been prepared for some type of Eywa "immune response" since that's specifically why they made the Recoms. They know they can trigger Eywa to come at them, but they acted like it was a surprise and didn't know what to do.

It's more than just superficial Snyder screenshots though. It's aggressively pro nuclear family and the Spider execution sequence from Neytiri's pov is a straight up anti-abortion ad. Grace Augustine as a name for a character with a heavily religious storyline is like a character showing up named Faith Aquinas.

It's not God's Not Dead but it's also not superficial window dressing. It really is all there.

It's not anti-abortion kek. But it is a biblical story. Abraham was told by God to sacrifice his son Isaac with no explanation. He brought isaac up on the hill telling him they were sacrificing a goat and not the real reason. When Abraham was finally about to reluctantly do it, he was stopped by God and told that it was a test of his faith. As Jake is praying and reciting ritual sayings to the ancestors, he specifically asked for his hand to be guided in doing this necessary task. As he stabs forward, his hand stays to the side away from Spider showing that he is being guided away from this path of sacrifice.
>>
>>217163519
There's other details from the Binding of Isaac as well. When Abraham took Isaac up to the mountain, he didn't tell the boy what he was planning, just like how Jake refuses to explain to Spider. He tells Spider to kneel on the stone, just as Abraham placed Isaac on the altar he built. Even the warm, yellow light in the scene is reminiscent of painted depictions of the Binding of Isaac
>>
>>217163519
>It's not anti-abortion

>Mother breaks down in tears, trying to wash symbolic blood from her shaking hands as the child she never wanted and whose life is an inconvenience is about to be killed
>Can't go through with it
>Finally recognizes the child, accepting him as her family
>Scene ends with the father and mother embracing the child and vowing to find "another way"
That's all pretty explicit. A scene can have multiple connotations

That's just a contrived interpretation. Spider is not some new inconvenience, he was with them for years and they never thought of killing him until they saw him as a threat, not just to them but their entire world.

It's a plot, with potential biblical references, arguing that some acts are so morally contemptuous that they cannot be justified by an appeal of utilitarian benefit. If you're anti-abortion you would feel abortion fits that definition, but given Cameron's view and the loose nature of this interpretation it's exceedingly unlikely he intended that connotation.

I'm an atheist, pro-choice up to a certain period, pro-environment and reasonably pro-gun ownership and I don't give a fuck about labels. I also recognize that our civilization has been shaped and heavily influenced by Christian myth and Greco-Roman myths before it, and there is value in recognizing and cherishing this. This bullshit about having to support a certain ideology if you thing this and that only limits ones thinking and puts people into boxes.

Neytiri and Spider are almost Caitlyn Stark and Jon Snow relationship, but with a happy resolution. Neytiri sees the Mangkwan warpain on her hands as the innocent's blood on her hands, and what's even more horrifying to her is that she'd share full responsibility for this murder because she was the one who planted this worm in Jake's head earlier, he'd never even think of it if not for her. Neytiri can love a motherless child, she just needed a serious reality check to finally realize that her trauma was leading her to a very dark path.
