They all do recognize that the White Walkers are approaching and the Long Night is about to happen. They all do end up on the same 'side', and not just by having all the good guy characters team up and the bad guy characters end up dying. Danearys and Cersei and Sansa should have had a chance to have a lot of scenes together and their attempts to kill each other should have made the fight against the White Walkers more difficult. Final battle is outside King's Landing with snow all over the ground. Normie audience would hate it though. It started out appealing to everyone who wanted a more subtle or complex show on TV, and ended up trying to appeal to the standard normie audience.
