>>217869903>>217869917Wrong image, sorry.
A blonde Berto?>>217869939Middle name Cinema
>>217869939What is this gimmick? It’s been almost a year since I’ve been on /film/.
We get it. You are bored of life and desperate for something new to change the way you feel. It doesn’t mean you have to adopt a second-rate actress for your personality. Berto was an insufferable try hard who never had the makings of a star.
>>217869997>It doesn’t mean you have to adopt a second-rate actress for your personalityBut enough about Maggie Cheung.
Still can't believe I got meme'd into expecting the passion of joan of arc to be good.>217870006Weak bait

>>217870020It is good. You just weren’t ready yet.
>>217869948What gimmick? So fag just wrote Godard and that's a gimmick to you? Gimme a break my man

>>217870048But they didn’t just write Godard, did they?
Eat at a local restaurant tonight. Get the cream sauce. Have a cold pint at 4 o’clock in a mostly empty bar. Go somewhere you’ve never been. Listen to someone you think may have nothing in common with you. Order the steak rare. Eat an oyster. Have a Negroni. Have two. Be open to a world where you may not understand or agree with the person next to you, but have a drink with them anyways. Eat slowly. Tip your server. Check in on your friends. Check in on yourself. Enjoy the ride.

>>217870189I have long believed that it is only right and appropriate that before one sleeps with someone, one should be able - if called upon to do so - to make them a proper omelet in the morning. Surely that kind of civility and selflessness would be both good manners and good for the world.
>>217870231Hope she sees this bro.
>>217870257She hate me
>>217870231Okay that’s kind of lame. If a girl I slept with wanted to eat in the morning then she’s not the one for me. She better only want two things the morning after. people really eat in the morning? Eww…

>>217870326
Imagine waking up in the morning and wanting to eat. Lol. Couldn’t be me. Fuck /film/!
>>217870310>Black children and teens in the U.S. are statistically more likely to skip breakfast, with studies showing up to 83.8% of Black teenagers do not eat it daily. Key reasons include food insecurity, the racial wealth gap, time pressures, lack of hunger in the morning, and shifting cultural habits.

>>217870200She couldn't handle his modernity.
>>217870377Based black teens, fasting is good for you, that's why they're all ripped and you're a fat fuck, anon.
But in all seriousness, we must protect Isabella's smile at all costs.
>>217870625She seems to be doing fine, living in a farm with chickens.
This was pretty weak huh.
It's hard to take these old prison dramas seriously when they portray all the inmates as real stand-up guys who never did no wrong, and all the prison guards and the warden as complete psychos who just get off on torturing people for the sake of it. They'd be more effective if they came clean about the fact that most inmates, the vast majority, are actually bad people, and that inbetween the cracks are a few good guys who got railroaded. When they pull this kind of shit though, it undermines their premise. Maybe things were different in the 30s, but I doubt it was this different.
>>217870797And then the Hays Code ended up overcorrecting that.
>>217870826The Hays Code didn't really do anything to stop this theme. It stuck around basically forever, only the genre naturally got less popular over time. Probably, again, due to how much bullshit it involved to maintain the narrative. The core principal of this kind of film, the underdog story, is good in theory. In practice, you can do it a few times and wow an audience that doesn't think too hard, but eventually people go "wait, huh? the guy that robbed me at gunpoint and raped my wife was supposed to be the good guy all along?" and they walk out of the theater.I've walked out of the theater, so to speak.
>>217870797Isn't it based on a true story?
>>217869917Love these girls like you wouldn't believe
>>217870927It did force the "criminal has to get his at the end" though.
I don't get why this general is so into all these french broads when italian women are so much better.
The Hays code did its best to sabotage American filmmaking, no wonder it managed to spread through every facet of American society
>>217869898No one seems to be talking about musicals, so I'll do it.I really like hello dolly! and streisand was very good in it. I don't imagine /tv/ would know this but the original play starred carol channing, who has that very trademarked throaty voice, so the first song of the movie, "just leave everything to me" was actually entirely redone. The original song was Channing's very iconic "I put my hand in", which became very synonymous to her voice. In order to save Streisand from doing a bad Carol Channing impression, they remade it to suit streisand's smooth vocals. She also changes the character, making dolly younger (which she was) but also less clever old lady and more clever jewess, twisting and turning the NY accent of dolly into a more jewish inflection. Other issues is how streisand, despite doing one of the most charming and likable leads ever written, is affectionate to the viewer, but cold towards the other characters, the number in the OP, the titular Hello Dolly song shows this remarkably, she seems to barely stand the dancers around her and almost shows scorn to the Louis Armstrong cameo. All that said, her renditions of the solos, just leave everything to me, before the parade and so long dearie are all powerhouse renditions which by far improve on the broadway versions.

An animated movie that I almost slept on. Very strange blend of collage and oil paints in the animation. Voice acting really sells the oneiric nature of the setting.
this mogs the Truffaut

One wonders why filmmakers like Tarantino are still talked about. Zero artistic merit or beauty to be found.
>>217900981>One wonders why filmmakers like Tarantino are still talked aboutMostly his retarded takes (and his occasional good ones like his take on Truffaut).

>>217900191>gf got filtered by Antonioni, Bresson, and Wenders.>I give up. She only likes Rohmer. Can I have her?
>>217898592>>217898803He hates Ford too (or at least The Searchers).
>>217901091>[...] one of Bresson’s young actresses basically described him as a dirty old man; the cinematographer on that same film said: “He was immense as a filmmaker. But I would never confide my daughter to him, never.”
>>217901259>But I would never confide my daughter to him, never. If she owed him sex like Anne did then you absolutely should.
>>217900322>Broken clock type dealFunnily enough, iirc, he somehow likes Rohmer.
