>>217914932Soon every show will have their own Troi to explain character motivations to people not paying attention to the story. TNG was once again way ahead of its time.

In the next decade almost all the guys from TNG are going to die of old age
>>217914932AI will destroy us, and we'll enjoy itcome to think of it, this might explain why a starship with 1000+ crew had a therapist as one of its bridge officers, because technology probably tempted everyone to live an indulgent hedonistic yet ultimately self-destructive life, like a syringe of fentanyl laying around., they needed to max out psychology in order to remain functioning human beings

Is the First Contact/DS9 uniform a two piece or jumpsuit? Siskos seems to be pants and a jacket but everyone else's seems like a one piece jumpsuit, why the variation? Is this a Picard situation where Stewart felt uncomfortable in the standard uniform so they gave him a variant?
>>217915093yep he's going to be hocking raisin bran and travel apps until he's 120
>>217915112Unless I’m mistaken it has been presented in both a two piece and a one piece. The difference came from the show runners wanting to differentiate VOY from TNG and then DS9 from VOY so they all kinda got their own uniforms. The later DS9 ones were way more dark and conductive to le gritty action movies hence Picard and the rest of the TNG crew are using them in Nemesis. The one Troi wears, for example in the OP Pic, looks like a one piece. But I believe Sisko walks around with a separate jacket-pants combo
>>217915093Who even wants to be that old? All your friends and family are dead. The world you grew up in no longer exists. You need constant medication just to keep you alive. And doctor's appointments to stay on that medication. And transportation back and forth since you likely can't drive. I say mid Seventies is the sweet spot where you can die with dignity.
>>217915098>that explains why nobody respects me.Respect is earned, as is friendliness. What do you bring to the table? Why are you respectable? Have you written any critically acclaimed touching love letters to DS9?
>>217915190i remember specifically the admirals getting fancier lined jackets. maybe sisko's is just the middle ground.
>>217915230>>217915190That's a stupid question.
>>217915217I would rather die alone and disrespected than be alive in a ten foot radius of you.
>>217915267oops thats a stupid post
>"touching love letter to Sisko">nigga was doing a Maury dance in the wormhole for 500 years
>>217915065That's one possibility. The other is because life in space can cause mental and emotional issues. Another reason is because long term space travel meant people would develop relationships and had to cope together. Also because of the red shirts that died that week. Pic related is what happens when you have no counselors on board.
>>217915269You won't have to worry about that. I don't associate with the poors.
>>217915284Alright I hate to say it but I think the VOY and TNG unis are indeed better than this.
>>217915310We all know who you associate with, Elon.
>>217914848Why the fuck did this lazy bitch revert to using her London accent in Picard s3 and why did nobody stop her?
>>217915311Nah, the First Contact uniforms are kino
>>217915311i will ALWAYS love the cuff decorations but i think the film/ds9 designs are just kind of shitty on a screen. VOYs are simple and notably very fucking cheap materials-wise like extremely flimsy polyester shit. I have heard and they certainly do look like comfy fucking pajamas though.
>>217915323Caring for horses is expensive. Sometimes you gotta do a little rough trade.
>>217915350Yawny Newshit
>>217915302The DS9 were such retards, all because they seethed so fucking hard that the ebil Nazi was a fan favourite. Around the time when Dukat was captaining the stolen Klingon ship, they should have committed to either:>he redeems himself like how Londo Mollari did but has to suffer for it>becomes the villain but is always active in the Dominion War arcThat stupid Pah Wraith bullshit because they so autistically wanted to double down on making him evil as fuck means Sisko fucks off at the end of DS9, pisses off Avery Brooks, and results in the depressing mess that shitty SA show is now trying to tie up like 30 years after the fact.
>>217915402the daughter subplot was absolutely what fleshed him out as morally greyan outcast single father protecting and then failing his daughter really tipped the scaled towards likeability
>>217915402however sacrifice of angels is amazing because its sisko vs dukat in a fullout balls to the walls battle, I still agree they flubbed the kosta mojin arc, could've been done but also could've been done much better, like say sisko breaks dukat free of its influence and him and sisko go down together to save bajor and the alpha quadrent. simply change but infinitely better. Hell Dukat saves his best freind Ben in the end so Sisko isn't an absentee father, Dukat completes a redemption arc. its kinda perfect if you think about it. Winn still dies btw fuck Winn, evil bitch.
>>217915465OH SHIT YOU CAST A FIRE SPELLNOW IM DEAAAAD
>>217915217>Touching love letter>Yeah, dad left me and his pregnant lover and never came back. But I always felt like he was watching over us.
>>217915490she wasn't hot enough for gul dukat
>KOST>AMOJAN>KOST>AMOJAN
>>217915465also this comfirms sisko as The Emissary, he "saves" Winn and Dukats souls by turning them back to the light and in return they stop the pah wraiths, they die Sisko lives, end of story. Very star trek, its what Kirk would've done.
>>217915512sisko was confirmed back in early s5
>>217915451It's not like I am even demanding he be redeemed - he could have remained the arch villain, but it was simply pants on head retarded to completely detach him from the DW arc so he can fuck around with Kai on Bajor in a plotline that is agonisingly boring and frustrating to watch
>>217915499Those are the risks when you're in the military or when you're a Messiah. You think Mary Magdalene bitched about the fact she wasn't getting dicked down anymore?

TNGnewfag who just finished watching ‘Sarek’. As I haven’t seen TOS yet, some of this episode my have gone over my head as well as the importance of Sarek himself. I know about Spock though and I enjoyed learning more about Vulcan culture and it was a nice episode which felt like a Segway between the old and new trek at the time. Standout of the episode though was Patrick Stewart’s acting when he was going through all of Sareks emotions following the mind meld. What a fantastic talent and it really shows why he’s a fantastic actor. Nearly finished s3 and my friend says the best is yet to come so hype.
>>217919721That sequence might be the high point of acting for the entire franchise to be honest

The actors are giving it their all and the stories are so good and the props and costumes and everything is just chef’s kiss. Such a good show. I know there’s a lot of discussion about DS9 and VOY but let us not forget that TNG was the archetype for really taking the original series and just blowing it up a million-fold
>>217919897You know what's regrettable about later TNG, starting about mid fifth season?Obviously the acting and writing remain top notch, but they let other production aspects start to slip and become "safe" and stagnant. The music, the effects. Even the sets start to lack imagination.
>>217919779Paramount more than made that money back through syndication packages, home video, and merchandise. The cable model was extremely lucrative but every studio blew that up for the streaming direct-to-consumer pipeline.
>>217919779And $1.4 million in 1987 equated to about $3 million in 2017. Nevertheless, STD cost nearly three times as much per episode in real terms, while delivering infinitely less in terms of quality entertainment.
>>217920075Yeah it’s not necessarily that TNG falls off, more just television shows can really only last 7-8 ish seasons. It doesn’t end on a whimper, at least. For a show that goes on that long and where actors/writers were probably getting burnout they still produced quality. Just not that peak and consistent S3 thru S5ish quality
>>217920094Their ROI wasn't what was being discussed.>>217920107No shit. Everything nuTrek is trash.
>>217920075Its almost like the show was pretty good for what it was in its time, but also there were a lot of bad episodes. It's not the shining beacon of hope everyone says it is.
>anon, i am sensing you are tumescent
>>217914848
>>217920149No one considers TNG "a beacon of hope". Who talks like that? A straw man, maybe.
>>217915190The early DS9 uniforms started on DS9. They were adapted into the Generations movie. Voyager left for the Badlands during that time. The gray shoulder uniform was introduced in First Contact, and then adapted by DS9.

Can anyone tell me what the fuck is up with the episode Hide & Q? Everything about this episode seems off. The characters make weird statements and Riker makes a complete turnabout. I thought it was a double bluff but no its actually him deluded in a blase way. Did actors protest against this one or was it fucked in the writing room?
You can only buy one, which one are you choosing?
>>217920643It was still fairly early into the first season, everything was weird.
>>217920685Which Revell model/s should I buy? I want a enterprise from the originals series.
>>217920275A child plays with toys, NOT a warrior.
one of the most "what the fuck, they would never say this" moments in S1 of TNG is in Lonely Among Us Tasha>captain! One of the delegates just killed the other and dragged him to the galley to cook and eat him!Riker>*laughs*Picard>lol well that's just your problem, I'm done dealing with this
>>217920753Star Trek has always had a racist undertone.
>>217920692Yeah but even the episodes people say are bad arent as weird as this one. The one with the african planet and the inhibitions one werent as strange and off putting as this one. Geordi saying Tasha Yar is as beautiful as he imagined and the weird dummy they used for Wesley. Riker was way off base. I mean he is a strange character already given his loose attitude and sexual harassment.
>>217920753If i was stuck with replicator food all the time, i would do the same. I would dine on Troi's sweet ass.
>>217920753>P... for Picard! That episode was a fever dream.
And then you get these weird interjected self-insert episodes like an alien coming aboard talking about how Wesley is the smartest most gifted person ever
>>217920804Yeah idk. TNG starts off weird, but then actually gets weirder around those middle episodes (Datalore is another where everyone feels more "off" than normal). Eventually they do hit a stride where the characters stop being retarded and strange but it's rough getting there.
>>217920753Season 1 feels like s2 of twin peaks where some episodes had Lynch and others didnt and you could tell which. I wonder if this was the reverse where Roddenberry rewrote old scripts that didnt work?
>>217920753Don't knock it till you've tried it.
Those early publicity photos from before Worf was added to the cast.

Are anons finally coming together?
>>217921118Next Gen feels like soviet propaganda at times. The governing principle and system which is concrete and undeniable. The idea that there is not trouble in paradise. Murder, hunger and poverty a thing of the past. The only problem is the enemy whose beliefs and systems of thought cause all the aforementioned problems. Everyone is equal on the ship but some are more equal than others.

>>217921753I hear she gives great hugs.
>>217921782>It's a Jadzia meets an old friend of Dax episode
How did Trills ever figure out that sticking a slug in their guts let them commune with them and become symbiotic? How'd they even know that the slugs had sentience in the first place? Did they cook and eat them for centuries in their primitive past? I would've, lotta calories in those old slugs.
>>217921842>Break glass in case of idea shortage
>>217921853thinking about Trills always pisses me off because they're such a stupid shit species
>>217921842>Everyone knows and loves Dax but apparently nobody bothered to learn how Trill work
>>217920415I would prefer that you shut the fuck up and enter the nearest airlock
I wish there was a Star Trek show that was basically like Master & Commander. I think Voyager comes close at time but I like the idea of space being and endless ocean and crew members other than the main cast having a chance to bond and express viewpoints. Mutiny's and the like.
>>217921853The slug's showed Intelligence by tracing letters in the dirt.
>>217921924I was just thinking this like an hour ago lol. It would at least make for a good episode, theme it like a classic naval pursuit / outsmarting story. That and Hunt for Red October maybe
is this thread basically the 4:3 master race? If so would that rule out ENT which is 16:9?
>>217921853One of the trills forgot to wear their bone necklace.
>>217921916>How do you do? I have a gross slug parasite in my chest.
>>217921979Yes and yes it bothers me that ENT is fullscreen but whatever, the world was moving on from CRTs and into plasma / LCD in those days.
>>217921979ENT made the cut only because everything that came after it was so much worse.
kill bajorans, behead bajorans, roundhouse kick bajorans into the concrete, slam dunk a bajoran baby into the trash can, crucify filthy bajorans, defecate into bajorans food, launch bajorans into the sun, stir fry bajorans in a wok, toss bajorans into active volcanoes, urinate into bajorans gas tank, Judo throw bajorans into a wood chipper, twist bajorans heads off, report bajorans to the IRS, karate chop bajorans in half, curb stomp pregnant bajorans, trap bajorans in quicksand, Crush bajorans in the trash compactor, liquify bajorans in a vat of acid, eat bajorans, dissect bajorans, exterminate bajorans in the gas chamber, stomp bajorans skulls with steel-toed boots, cremate bajorans in the oven, lobotomized bajorans, mandatory abortions for bajorans, grind bajorans fetuses in the garbage disposal, drown bajorans in fried chicken grease, vaporize bajorans with a raygun, kick old bajorans down the stairs, feed bajorans to alligators, slice bajorans with a katana.
>>217922020Once an iteration is made Legacy Trek, it never loses that status.
If I'm being fully honest, I think these are actually the best live action uniforms in the franchise, which makes it fucking infuriating that this is all they'll ever be used for.
>>217922052Mmmm, nah
Am I right in saying that Troi basically gets off on Rikers dirty thoughts about her? How would you stop yourself thinking about that cleavage?..... also could i get that Troi in see through negligee webm
