I do feel like a lot of Baelor's motivation was political damage control, based upon protecting the reputation and legitimacy of House Targaryan among the rest of the Westerosi houses and the smallfolk.The optics of the whole affair looks really bad for his family, and its made worse by the fact that Aerion is resorting to shenanigans by demanding the Trial of Seven. The story's will be that the men of House Targaryian pick fights by beating up helpless women, then are too scared to fight their own battles, and try to win cheap victories where they beat up on nobodies after stacking their odds heavily in their favor.Baelor joining in on the side of Dunk muddies all that and makes it seem more like an internal family squabble.

Bit late to the party, but this show is berry noice. My personal favorite is that scene where Duncan bought and cooked pork and eggs for Egg because he couldn't eat hard salted beef, and they went on to have fun at the tourney like brothers. Didn't expect something so genuine and sweet for the type of show this is.Also I like the implication that Aerion might actually have beaten Dunk 1v1 because of his superior training. Dunk couldn't have won without his friends.
