Even though this show has been better than I thought it could be, it still ultimately has the same problem looming over it as anything connected to the ASOIAF that they try and make now.It's that ultimately all this has a bittersweet taste left in the mouth because how hard GOT shit the bed and fucked up the ending. It doesn't matter how cool some prequels are if the story that made all this popular in the first place completely fails to stick the landing. All the old gods/new gods shenanigans eluded to throughout the show, Azor Ahai stuff, the Targ dynasty, Bloodraven, the White Walkers, and essentially everything else that never gets settled in any meaningful way. It's all either shit execution, or never addressed in a fitting way. All this is only made worse by the fact that fat ass can't even finish the books and give us the satisfaction of at least having a "canon" ending through his works. I'm convinced that D&D thought they would being making insane money and prestige elsewhere for their talents because of how much hot shit they thought they were, with series like Star Wars and endless Disney dollars on the horizon, so they just rushed GOT as much they could to get out of any contractual obligations they had, and deluded themselves that they could write an effective working ending that they couldn't fuck up at that point in the show as long as they convinced themselves they could half ass it enough HBO and the viewers would buy it. How fucking it hard would it be if Winds ever releases for HBO and people surrounding GOT just to declare at least the last couple seasons Non-Canon,and remake them all with thought out writing and a proper conclusion?There is clearly still major interest in this world.
