This is our chance to write the chudcore Star Trek that will emerge 10 years after wokecore Star Trek bottoms out, which I predict will be two years from now when some Star Trek show even more autistic than the cartoon and even more woke than Star Fleet Academy fails to get renewed for a 3rd season and the streaming service draw is unequivocally flat to negative.
Chudcore Trek ideas go. It's on a ship in outer space. There's episodic political plots.

After the Dominion war all the major powers are exhausted. The Ferengi who have secretly been supplying all sides, including in the Gamma quad via the tulaberry wine merchants take over with their massive fleet which they have built up using the profits from the war. The Ferengi Alliance of Trade (FAT) is now the hegemonic power over half the galaxy and ruthlessly enforces their law of female nudity. The show follows Captain Anon (played by me) and his crew of hot naked babes.

Anon, they're literally not making anything right now, Strange New Worlds will be over after its fifth season and Academy will be over after its second. Once they're done, it's over. You'll have to wait a lot longer than two years.

The Federation mounts a real purposeful expedition to the Delta quadrant, not exactly retracing Voyager's steps but crossing their path here and there so you get to see familiar species/faces. Neelix could be the pilot 'send-off' character as the ship's first stop in the Delta quadrant is the little Talaxian colony he settled at.
>inb4 how do they get out there/back
I dunno, technobabble something together. Maybe they've figured out how to open an artificial wormhole or widen/stabilize some micro-fissure, or the Borg have retreated deeper into their territory leaving swaths of their subspace network unguarded.
In any case the ship is outfitted for up to a five year mission without resupply, the Federation is interested in establishing regular contact with friendly species for various reasons ranging from cultural exchange to building a larger bullwork of species to stand against the Borg.

With today's technology I think it's totally possible to remaster Star Trek so the rest of the ships/station that should be there can be seen through the windows. The masking against black should be relatively easy, 3D tracking is a piece of cake now, obviously you'd have to remove all the original stars since the parallax won't make sense.
The most work would be involved in mapping out where the windows would be on a corresponding CG model but that's pretty well established for most of the windows you see out of (ready rooms, conference rooms, the promenade, etc) and other random rooms with windows can just be up to the discretion of the person doing the VFX.

you think they would dare re-cast the TNG crew for some Enterprise-E movies? they really can't do the original Kirk....aaaaagain.

it would be super sweet to get a DS9 movie though. Old Admiral Kira, Old Quark, Bashir & Ezri's children doin' stuff. Jake! the ultimate awesomeness would be the return of The Emissary which would counter-delete the lame SFA expo heheh

from what I heard, the original plan was to lose Harry around the time they lost Kes. but some magazine said he was a "hot young actor" or something, and they decided to keep him around, and also to keep him SINGLE un-attached for the teenage girls to swoon over (because that magazine said so?) that's also why they paired B'Elanna with Paris despite giving considerable scenes previously with her and Harry. The genesis of asking if his skin was bleached is because you could not comprehend another way to reconcile your initial observation of him being a different shade of dark. The simple answer to your observation is that black people can tan too, thus your question of "did he bleach his skin?" is irrelevant.

I understand the argument of "we won't deal with this until we have to" is totally sensible but it bugs the hell out of me how they didn't spend any time developing even a loose outline of anything between the movies and TNG outside of Enterprise B and C designs, neither of which they managed to completely stick with and a kitbashed ship on Picard's desk which they decided would become the Stargazer at the last minute.
In TNGs time, The amount of Mirandas and Excelsiors everywhere is fucking crazy. Until they showed the Ambassador which was an actual visual bridge between the eras it's like nothing but motion picture ships until just yesterday when the Enterprise-D was commissioned, and then continues to be nothing but still the motion picture era until they had enough Ent-D bits to kitbash some new, contemporary looking ships.
People praise models over CGI but at least by the late 90s they were able to pump out a bunch of new ships which didn't just look like the inbred children of already existing ships. Still a shame the Federation side of the Dominion war was populated by so many motion picture era relics...

Just got done watching DS9. I really loved the finally. If I had to be nit-picky
1) I really wish the pacing for this final arc had been better, I feel like there's some stuff in this final episode that feels very brisk and it could have been improved if the previous episodes had done a better job at moving the story forward. Too many of the previous episodes felt like they didn't meaningfully move things along and spent too much time on stupid shit (Ezri and Worf)
2) I wish Dukat had been involved with the end of the war instead of doing some bullshit mystical side quest with Kai Winn. I get what they were going for, making Dukat the anti-christ to Siskos messiah, but it felt weird to have the guy who more or less helped ignite the war not be present what so ever to see it's end or to even react to the devastation of Cardassia. Having him get tackled directly into hell felt a bit cheesy.

With that being said, I really liked it. DS9 might honestly be just slightly ahead of TNG for me after this.
