Season so terrible i unironically think Kripke was actively malicious in its production. S4 sucked dick but that finale turned it around and i was expecting full throttle going into s5 only for them to basically reset all the characters again, stall, set up vought rising, stall, stall, then have it all be super rushed at the final episode. Homelander's death feels less like it was written as a satisfying conclusion to the character and genuinely seems like it was written like a "le orange pedophile gets humiliated and killed" fantasy. Butcher's whole "evil arc" lasts around 8 minutes with a death scene that is nice sure but is so short and melodramatic while copying the comic ending for butcher, missing everything that made that ending good in the first place. the entire oval office scene is a joke.They just pull up in a van to some random tunnel, no insiders helping them or anything, no scene to expand upon how they got there, none of them in disguises, they can just enter an escape tunnel from the white house without anyone noticing or caring, no one around, no guards, no police, no nothing, go through the tunnel only then are they detected, they don't even have a guy watching CCTV or anything outside of it, just no security at all. They get inside, and it's just like 2 secret service in the entire building, nothing else happening. No one else rushes to the oval office in some kind of rapid response to see what is happening, only after a 10 minute fight do sirens of police arriving finally blare in the background, and all of the boys just walk out of the most secure building in the US without any issue and go to some random cabin somewhere unmolested.
