Is there a deeper point to Digger's half-sister green company? That the energy giants have been trying to wash up their image since paris 2015 by investing in solar and wind but still need oil to be produced? That energy regardless of the source is inevitably connected with existing capital and there'll be no hippy solarpunk future?

Is it true that Digger psychosis is slowly engulfing the planet?
I loved this movie. It was almost better imagining the man behind the machine making the movie itself, as the movie played out, than the actual things on screen were to see. The pacing was pretty bad, however, me and my girlfriend were smiling and giggling just at the sheer hilarity of a libtard hollywood dweeb having to hide behind schrodinger's plato cave. "Is it the intention of the play or the movie?" as the film progressed. It was lovely. The mocking of Trump having hands laid on him and evangelicals behind him? "The Play or the Movie?" We all know haha. The worst part of the movie, is it had to shove the knife in at the end, so you were sure to leave the theater knowing what it intended. I wish it had the pretentiousness to not have done that. However, I did really like it. People will compress all these people of the past, the Diggers, the Rotschchilds, the Trumps, the Feinsteins, the Schumers. And they'll laugh at their deaths, they'll laugh at them, with the misunderstandings and caricatures. And they'll sulk in their microplastic tears after their loved ones die from the cancer, that was put on them, by these caricatures. And then go online and yell at you, yell at the collective, to stop them. When you don't really give a fuck, and you just wonder why they haven't loaded a gun yet and went to the government or rich guy buildings they know exist. It's just a good movie for the whole vessel. Even if the movie isn't really that good at all.Absolutely torture for inactive losers who want the world to be fixed, by screaming, caricaturing, and compressing everything.
>>223606382In the film the collective hate for Digger turned into a smog that the population has to wear masks to protect themselves from.

If human rights, environmental protection, and the safety of all people are so important. Why didn't the people that believe this maximize their nuclear power and conventional arms capability as much as possible to ensure it, by threat of destruction of everyone else? While they were using their taxes to bring the floor up, people with actual guns and planetary harming capability were steering the wheel. Now they have an issue with it?

>>223607879Top Gun Maverick had an inventive way of filming the action shots by combining CG and real-time footage. Top Gun had a lot of prop-cockpit shots filmed in front of a video screen. In terms of action, Maverick wins by a long mile, but I do prefer Maverick's inner conflict in the OG.
>>223607882I think people are getting filtered. seems like a kino
>>223607973I mean yeah I can agree with that too. Maverick also works better when taking the first film in context. It works without it, but it hits harder with it. Ultimately, however, I feel it ended up outdoing the original which is virtually impossible for a legacy sequel.

>>223608069I think you'd like the movie
>>223608030I liked the banter in the og movie more too at certain moments. The thing about the Maverick movie is, Rooster was an okay side character, but the moment he and Maverick end up on that mountain his personality turns into this predetermined character, whereas before that moment, he had some more depth and personality. Same can be said for the remaining crew also, they are all embodied examples of by-the-book stereotypes and rewatching the bar scene makes it clear how much they relied on queues to start interacting a certain way: a character speaks only after a specific glance that lets the dumb audience know what the intention of his line is going to be etc.The original had this also to a certain extent, but as much as I really like the action in TGM, the bits in between are just horrible to rewatch at certain moments.

I liked Digger. While it's easy to paint off the movie as anti white garbage (using extremely evident evidence in the movie), I can't help but to think it's more than that. Especially when Tom Cruise notes the inaccuracies in the meta play, the close ups of the redhead kid listening to the Europeans trash their own race, and finally the reveal of poster and name of the play: fossil fools. There is a deeper message in there somewhere I'm sure. Don't regret watching it at the cinema.

He does appear to look up to him somewhat in the nephew kid that's supposed to represent him. >>223607122And the rape scene, obviously.
sandra hueller turns me on so much in this movie it's unrealshe's like catherine keener except drunker and angrier
Just watched it, was great. It's not everybodys movie. Not the normie comedy the trailers portray, and not a preachy science movie either. it's a dark comedy set in a world very similar to our own. So don't be discouraged cause of the weird marketing.I totally get what it was saying by the end of it, and it makes sense. the political satire that the movie is kinda using for advertisements isn't subtle and thats basically mocked even in the film itself. The film mocks the idea of corrupt rich chud politicians while also mocking the smug liberals, and the bleak reality that humans are willing to accept a comforting fascist state, and do things against our better interest. This type of dystopia in a film isn't uncommon, look at Wall-E or Idiocracy, or 1984 or brave new world, where people become basically sedated in a bleak world. this film feels very similar. I'm still trying to figure out what the meaning of the movie is desuCruise, Goodman, and others do a brilliant job painting this world that feels very over the top I think it's a very smart film that will challenge people, in a good way.Goodmans scenes as the president are why people compare it to dr. strangelove, and its very kinoit's not preachy like the ads make it seem. I feel like they just had no clue how to market this film effectively lol it's gonna be a word of mouth film I highly recommend this movie, loved it. TLDR: good movie go see itI give it 10 diggers out of /10
>>223606637This post inspired me to buy the boot when I went and saw it just now.Not really sure how I felt about the movie. I appreciated some of it, but I didn't like the framing device and found it interrupted the movie when I was just getting into it. Every time. And that may be intentional as another point in regards to the theme and message, but I think the theme and message was obvious enough, and it was getting across as far better satire when you were actually pulled into the disaster story.6/10, could've been great. Would love to see an edit where they removed most of the framing story, they could keep the end, have it revealed as a play, 25+ years in the future after the disaster, but right at the end of the movie.
>>223606083The only reason to see it in the theater is for the joke at the end. The audience of the play leaves into their shitty dystopia.
>>223607717wait so it's based???
>Alejandro, I don't get it. Why do we all have to keep tripping over the shovel?>It's a shovel, you know, it's very interesting, and cool. The man is named Digger, you know, you dig with a shovel. It's very interesting, you know.
>>223612891This. the film is a bit confusing to watch, but worth it. I would like a cut where it cuts out all the B plot stuff that would be funny. You are so on board with the story the whole time and the writing was good, I didn't think it needed the B plot personally but it really puts everything in a different context and it makes you realize how weird and staged the whole movie you just watched was lol Maybe I'm getting filtered, but it seems like the twist made the rest of the film worse, cause you end up taking the rest of the film less seriously because of that? but was that the intention? it's a deeper film than most realizethe director character is supposed to be a bit of a hack, but I enjoyed the first half of the film more than the second so I'm not sure if she really is a hack. Maybe it's a comment on comfort food type satire in general, like other anons here said, and how society loves to tear down certain people in order to feel better about ourselves as bread and circuses. The whole first act of the film shits on Digger, us and the audience aligned, and the second half is like a wake up call and I would say isn't exactly a redemption for him but it paints a fuller picture of this world. It's a movie that sits with you weird because you don't really know what you just watched. now thats kino

I’m Digger’s number one defender.I’m tired of people saying the Digger script is mediocre or bad.The way I look at things is by considering what a work is trying to do, how it goes about it, and whether or not it succeeds. In the case of Digger, I felt it was a film driven by an immense sense of urgency regarding the climate catastrophe it addresses, while simultaneously questioning its own role within an entertainment machine that contributes to the inevitability of that very catastrophe. Likewise, the play within the film serves the same function in the world as the film itself. The only difference is that the play takes place in a world where the disaster has already occurred, yet it remains inevitable for us, too. The conceptual weight of using recursion as a narrative structure forces the film to engage with ideas of post-truth and the construction of simple narratives to grasp complex systemic issues. This requires the script to operate on two levels: one being a farce, and the other consisting of discussions that establish the recursive nature of the story. In my opinion, the script succeeds in this; what I took away from watching it aligns closely with how the film is currently being promoted. So, I really try, but I just don’t see what’s wrong with the script. Even the moment where Jesse Plemons explicitly articulates the concept to cement it strikes me as absolutely necessary; he’s doing far more than just "explaining the movie." The film is establishing, on its own terms, its own contract of meaning with the world.
I feel like I need a 12 hour deep dive of this film before I will truly understand it

Best way to waterproof the Digger boot is probably to take it apart and liberally apply silicon, right?

his performance is so good
>>223616982It's nice to see he's lost a lot of the weight he put on after Breaking Bad.I wanna see what he'd be like opposite Robert Pattinson.Could probably get Joe Rogan to MC any panels in the lead up to the release, bill it as a big PPV event to see two heavyweights in their generation going head to head.Throw Paul Dano in there and it's just gonna be a hoot.
>>223610764It's like how they make zuck films or the Sam altman flick. Bread and circus
>>223615939Honestly, an intermission shot of Paul Dano singing this would've been less jarring than some decisions that made it to the final cut.

>>223614679they don't get it. people are calling digger the ultimate pleb filter. >it's bad because box office>its bad because woke (its not)>its bad becuz it made me thinkdigger is kinothe dependence on hollywood to "make back budget" is literally why movies suck nowadays. It's good that Digger was made, fuck these hollywood rats who just make normie slop for the masses like the minecraft movie. they would probably say that disney slop remakes are "successful" despite EVERYONE hating them
>>223617615the only thing I disliked about the flick was the fact that we got to see how the world looked, but once I saw a) that it was to show that everyone just accepted their new reality and b) the level 4 thing I changed my opinion and realized there is nothing I don't like about it
Del Toro Defends Digger
what do you think the point of the plotline about the actors family members flight and how diggers nephew is able to help with that, a commentary on how rich and connected people suffer less?
>>223610764basically what you see in real life.capitalizing on manufactured woke outrage.its hearding the sheep basically

>>223619000I love the stuff that this movie says about the world. it is probably the best film I've seen in the last 10 years. this movie has a wisdom about society that a lot of movies don't have, it's extremely well written. people who say it isn't just basically got filtered. We (society, normies) are the audience clapping watching digger drown holy fucking kino
I've only seen the camrip can someone explain the fourth wall break in the credits?
I've heard it's projected to make 1 digillion dollars at the box office

i don't think my country will do any more sessions for digger (at least the cinema website is only showing street fighter sessions for the weekend) so i don't think i'll be able to watch it :( is it really a dig on how making watching social commentary media the extend of one's activism castrates true change?
>>223619378No it's more about how the consumer powers elites like Digger Rockwell through our impulsive habits and expensive lifestyle. Secondarily it's about how sometimes satire needs to be ridiculous and over the top to heal from tragedy
>>223618821It genuinely feels like Digger is the last Hollywood movie. Like yeah movies will still be made by people in their mom's basement using AI but digger feels like the last big vision ambitious production we are ever going to get

>>223619099It's small. It's just the same "level 4 evacuate" alarm hear near the end of the film and it abruptly cuts off all the credit music and makes you watch the rest of the credits in dead silence
should i watch digger today alone?(none of my college frens like cinema outside of marvel stuff...)
Ok, but what do my friends Mike and Jay think of it? That's the only opinion that matters
>>223619527Do it. I watched Backrooms alone and it was find. I dragged my boomer parents to Digger and there were only 10 other people in the whole theatre

this is how long digger is if you cut out every fourth wall break scene except for the very end
>>223619798The scenes with the cousin are the thing that the movie hinges on.
>>223619835yeah while making the cut I realized its kindof a retarded idea and negates the point of the movie lol probably what people wanted would be to put all of the B plot in the third act to be more traditional storytelling but that wouldn't work the way the film is edited is very intentional. love the shot of leaving the airplane, there's a lot of nice transitions i noticed. was fun to see how many fourth wall breaks there are
kino
>>223619987I would love to see a campy Ballad of Digger Rockwell remake in 10 years which is a played straight 2hr version of the wacky antics of him destroying the world like a 1970s oil barron caricature. It needs to change the ending of Digger going crazy as a Howard Hughes recluse and instead makes him a moses figure leading humanity to Mars after he ruined the Earth.

>>223620909Wow you're incredibly dumb
>>223621483I get you brother. You're so close, yet the next step you need to take to fully understand the tension within the script would take you a number of IQ points you simply don't have.Since you seem to be so familiar with postmodernism I presume I don't have to dumb down the fact that Digger is essentially a film driven by an immense sense of urgency regarding the climate catastrophe it addresses, while simultaneously questioning its own role within an entertainment machine that contributes to the inevitability of that very catastrophe. That's why the POC director is defending the cathartic nature of the farce whereas Curtis recognizes the irresponsibility of the entire ordeal, in the meantime, they're all complicit in whitewashing the Rockwell name. Do you get it now anon?
