Has some of the most /lit/ writing I've ever seen in a game. While there's not combat in a traditional RPG sense, you do have to build your character. There's tons of skills you have to allocate points into and gear has star bonuses and negatives. Your stats deeply affect how your character behaves in dialogue and affects your skill check rolls like a tabletop RPG. It's much more engaging than it sounds. Also it's very replayable as your stats affect the dialogue so much that rerolling can completely alter the story.

I kept trying to get immersed and give the game a fair chance but fuck me does the game's writing quality go all over the place and I completely lost interest with how terrible the detective mystery plotline was.

There was huge drama with the developer studio with a hostile takeover and the original developers were apparently communists but the game is really well made, has a good story and well written characters. As for the political agenda, I did my playtrough as a fascist and one as a capitalist and it was pretty fun. The communist path makes fun of communists as much as the other paths make fun of the other political agendas. I'd absolutely recommend it for 4 bucks.

I bought and played for 10 hours spread over many months, what bothers me is how lame the class abilities are and how undercooked is the loot system, not to mention the horrible performance.Maybe I didn't give a proper chance but coop shooters is my favorite genre, and while some games lack in build crafting like L4D2, it completely makes up for it with the level design and director.Darktide feels like a mission based Borderlands clone with a more in depth melee system.

Beating the boss opens up Three Sisters, which in addition to being the start location for Ranni's quest also gives you access (there's a drop onto a building, just travel by the edge of Three Sisters and you'll see it) to a merchant that sells Carian Retaliation, which gives any shield a buckler tier parry frames.
