The guards are really easy to fight once you realize you can target individual limbs. His left arm hacks at you with a cleaver on the first turn while his right arm grabs and kills you on the second turn. It's pretty obvious what the game wants you to do (once you die once to him).

Nah, the game is only fun with a ton of visual mods so the player/NPCs don't look like pure shit, and the gameplay also needs survival/realistic damage mods to make it fun, and frankly doing all that is too much work.

And there's no real good modpacks for it to do it for me, either, unlike Skyrim. And this is all from someone with the hot take that properly modded, the game is more fun to play than properly modded Skyrim.

I 100%d it and at no point did I find myself focusing on anything, I got vague orders from an NPC, followed the arrow, killed and looted and repeated. Sometimes I was taken out of my trance by the abysmal retarded writing only Bethesda Fallout would have but other than that there was not a single moment where I felt there was anything to look forward to or any sort of roleplaying to be done.

Titanfall 2 was the last multiplayer game I genuinely cared about to the point that /tfg/ happy hours always had a thumb on the scale when I was making weekend plans. That said, I'll never, ever care about a game as much as I cared about Planetside 2. I've played on the higher difficulties but never bother with ironman shit in stalker games. I don't even mind grindy shit, I've played several mods where a core part of progression is completing the cyclic quests from traders for money/rep. Gamma just doesn't grip me like those mods, it's weak in terms of over-arching goals, and if anything you get strong TOO fast even with the limitations put in place. Once I get good gear in most of these CoC-derivative mods, I don't really have the drive to keep going.

I think you should try it and see how far you really get. Like the reason all the medicine and stuff is in there is because getting shot even once is supposed to be REALLY bad, as it realistically would be, and you can't just savescum it away. And obviously the zone is very dangerous so eventually you will get shot and have to deal with it.
