The result is instead of a game that captures WoW but expands upon it, you get a game that has none of the soul of WoW with awkward mechanics that they tried to tout. Using GW2 as an example, they try to get rid of the trinity and instead boil everything down to a DPS race, they try to make the combat "action packed" and instead have a clunky combat with fuck all abilities. The trinity works because it inherently makes the most sense. You can't get rid of it because it is solved. What you should instead be doing is trying to expand upon it. Expand upon the roles, expand upon the mechanics, etc. That's what it always comes back to. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel.
