It's ironically the kind of localization /v/ begs for, and it was rejected in favor of a fan tl that's basically no different from your average overlocalized sludge. They have a shallow interpretation of the text that's essentially like your average "media literate" essayist. You can read posts from the people that worked on it and see how they push for their own interpretations as fact instead of looking at it from a broader lens. The whole "manchild" thing and their justification of it is a good example. A change that bad obviously doesn't end there. It's indicative of their mindset for the project, and should invite more scrutiny.The official one definitely has problems of its own, but it's not beyond fixing. It's got editing errors that give the impression of a very rushed localization process. It's like an early draft of an ok translation. The fan tl's biggest advantage is that it's instead based on the original uncensored Xbox 360 version. You would have to watch a couple sections on YouTube in the middle of your playthrough to fill these gaps if you were to play with the official one (I did this.) This is something that a new patch would have to fix if it were to use the official version as its base.
