I think Ashes need to have a substantially higher mana cost as a way to dissuade people from spamming them. Ashes are so strong that you could reliably and easily finish the entire game just by using ashes of war, essentially turning every build into a wizard build. This would make it so people actually have to level mind up a bit if they want to spam ashes every 2 seconds like what is currently happening it would also give a little bit more distinction from the caster archetypes and the melee archetypes as melee would be forced to melee a little bit more while casters main sell is that they can cast a lot more. You should only be able to carry 1-3 starlight shards at once for the same reason.

Now that the honeymoon phase has worn of, I feel comfortable saying the level design in the main dungeons was super weak and really fell below the par set by previous games. I kept expecting to find a shortcut that would circle back around or something but they were all just linear paths through mob corridors with some detour rooms that never had loot worth the effort to explore them.

The Potentate enemies are especially fucking egregious because its borderline a clone of a tarnished invader that already fucking exists but they're regular enemies and have the sharpen from DS3/Demons Souls
>>484337675>what's funny is that every time invaders discover something that they think will do well against ganks, they neglect to acknowledge that ganks do literally everything better than they do. rolling sparks spam? easier to hit for ganks by far. swift slash spam? better for ganks. blind spot spam? better for ganks. and so on.the point is to escalate the arms race to ever lamer and gayer weapons and eventually reduce pvp to spamming 1-2 boring broken af weapons. a lot of invaders will generally swap over to swift slash or perfume bottles when they see a ganksquad, and play normally with "fun weapons" if not. on average, invaders do still get normal pvp battles occasionally, while ganksquads are only really getting invaders who are used to getting ganked, which means they are going to go out of their way to annoy them and cheese them back.that isn't to say there aren't people who still enjoy ganking even when it's just pressing 1 button to win. but on average, as long as there instawin cheese options in the game, i think invaders are probably having more fun than the ganksquads are. which is probably why they always nerf the cheese because ganksquads are the whiniest online

>>484346515I didn't give a shit about any Dragon's Dogma 2 NPC and none of their characters have any presence at all as the story tales nonsensical turns and you chase and then ally with characters you didn't even meet or know their real agenda in the first place.Elden Ring bosses and NPCs have real presence and their backstory which ties in a net of relationships with other bosses and NPCs, and the whole DLC pushed even further of that making it the focus of the main quests.A lot of characters in Elden Ring put their hopes in the player to restore the world and have each their vision of how it should be. The world of Elden Ring speaks through its enviroment and characters and you can draw an actual timeline of events which shows how the tragic events that brought the land in its current state came to be. Having a bunch of NPCs running around slapping each other for the player would dimish that. It goes beyond saving a bunch of nameless NPCs, it's about drawing a vision of that world and completely reshaping it in a new age.
