Well every single person has hit on me at the party, including Astarion who seems to be the most difficult to get at this stage. So we get to choose. Who are we feeling this playthrough? I'm leaning towards Gale because I think this character would like protecting him in combat which is romantic. But Astarion has the possible good ending where he's free and happy which is appealing. But she can also be goody two shoes heroes with Wyll. So many choices. It's actually really funny that there are several people I haven't romanced yet despite playing so many times. Minthy swoops in and steals me away every time...(I've watched everything on youtube, but I want to do it myself). I've been enjoying indie crpg like Dark Envoy, Encased, Colony Ship, and others, but Larian has hit that sweet spot of big budget and passionate nerdy developers. Most games only have one or the other. It's passionate indie devs with no budget, or soulless slop from AAA publishers. bg3 is special.

For some reason, I remember beating DOS2 on tactician.And now, I don't remember much anything about the lore since I'd usually just follow map markers most of the time, and I'd just skipped dialogue and pressed whatever options... so I can't say for sure that the story was really better.But one thing for sure is that combat was pretty fucking cash. Challenging? checkEpic music? checkTactical battle? checkUnique environment? checkIts just that the brain itself is not a compelling villain, thats all there is to it. The best fights in the game are Githiyanki patrols Followed by: Raphael, Ansur, Kethric, Drur and the battle at the guild. But when you think about it, i think almost all the battles are great, so much fun to be had with the combat. The only battle i wish they improve even further is Orin's boss fight, there is more potential to be had there.

I love DOS2 for its gameplay for the most part but some quests are also hilarious and the world design is very good. With that said BG3 improved everything upon it, the gameplay is even richer, the world design is even denser and way better, the writing is obviously better i feel DOS2 writing was somewhat on the weak side, the dialogue had low reactivity, less engagement and less interesting things to say, the characters are also less memorable and it has some flaws here and there mainly the diablo style itemization which makes stat checks too important, i prefer it when tactics matter more, for example in BG3 you can use a blue tier item and win, but in DOS2 its much harder to pull that off without the environment because the items are so important thanks to them affecting spell damage directly and armor and magical shields. And also ofcourse the enemy variety is low. Still despite that i can't name more than 5 turnbased games with better gameplay than DOS2
