Ok this is the last time I will be asking questions regarding Ranni's quest since it's the end, but I really want to know this.When we find Blaidd lost in madness and Iji after we tell him Blaidd died, both are found surrounded by corpses of Black Knife Assassins. Why were Black Knife Assassins after Blaidd and Iji? I thought about this for a while and came up with a theory.We know Ranni was the one behind the night of the black knifes, but this doesn't necessarily means she commanded the assassins, all we know is that she was the one who stole the rune of death and did the ritual that made the black knives. If she was really in command of the assassins she would have sent them to kill the baleful shadow and other missions, but she doesn't.Here's my theory: we know Marika still has some influence in the world since she can guide the tarnished, and we know that following Ranni's ending means destroying that remains of Marika since she wants to create a world without gods. If we ASSUME the night of the black knives was all part of Marika's great plan, which would make sense based on her actions, we could also say that Marika can command the black knife assassins, and it would make sense for her to try to kill Ranni when she realizes that the Tarnished is going along with her. By that point Ranni had already left earth, so the assassins had to go after the closest people to her, which were Iji and Blaidd.TL:DR Marika sends Black Knife Assassins after Ranni because she knows Ranni will try to destroy her in her ending.

I have a rough working theory that Radagon and Marika's four children with him are basically fragments of her personality that broke off from her when the Elden Ring was shattered, similar to how Malenia's "daughters" are clones of her born asexually (like a hydra splitting into daughters through mitosis). I'm pretty sure Radagon was never originally his own individual person but a disguise that Marika created in order to subjugate the Carians, if not through war then through marriage. The mimic veil being called "Marika's Mischief" implies that this kind of trick is not new to her. I think each of these five individuals represent different aspects of Marika's personality that broke off from her and became independant people when the Elden Ring was shattered. Marika is the vessel of the Elden Ring and when she shatters it you can see her own body physically shattering and fracturing so maybe the same thing happened with her personality too.Melina is the part of Marika that is the closest to her "original" self, the person she was when she first created the Minor Erdtree incantation and left the Shaman village. She's the part of Marika's personality that wanted to change the world, but in opposite ways. Marika wants to remove death from the world while Melina wants to return it, but both of them believe that this action will make the world a better place and solve the current problems plaguing it.Messmer is the part of Marika that harbours hatred and resentment for the Hornsent as well as her angst and rage against those who have ostracised and subjugated her. He represents the person she became when she first took vengeance against the people who wronged her. Marika was treated as lesser because she was a Shaman and made to suffer for it while Messmer is treated as lesser for his abyssal serpent and made to suffer for it. They both take out their suffering with extreme violence.(1/2)

When Marika shattered the Elden Ring she doubted the Greater Will and the order she created but there was still a part of her that created it in the first place, and as the ring shattered that part of her split off into an individual with it's own free will who wanted to preserve the Golden Order at all costs.Malenia and Miquella are the hardest to fit into this theory but I think they represent the inevitable stagnation of the state of the world Marika created. Malenia is the literal physical stagnation that happens when things are left in the same state for so long that they begin to rot and fester into something grotesque, like a still pond that becomes a breeding ground for mosquitos. While Miquella represnts the metaphorical stagnation, the inability to move on or mature into something better, always clinging to the past.Obviously this is pretty rough but I like the idea and I don't think there's anything that explicitly contradicts it so I'll have to keep thinking about it and refining it.(2/2)

The actual problem with ranni's ending is the other chaos that will ensue. What do I mean? The world will go back to before marika's time, we see what kinda shit people got up to back then and it's not pretty, it would be constant war, struggle, hardship, it's likely her own mother will be butchered and if not rot away alone succumbing to age. Nepheli is a powerful warrior but inexperienced leader with a leader like kenneth who actually thinks demihumans on average are a salvageable people and that the likes of boc aren't exceptions likely will make things worse for her. Goldmask solves this, gets rid of marika as a necessary force, keeps the golden order together something beneficial for normal humans, and ensures peace even if it's stagnant.

Messmer's spear feels underrated as fuck for invasions right now. It's the longest lance with many ways to buff its fire damage, 3 stage WA that can be extended depending on situation with the first attack making a huge aoe, second chasing anything that is not fast rolling and the third just obliterating entire group if they are still nearby.Kinda awkward to fit on fai builds below level 200, but it's not an issue given how active that range is.One of the best boss weapons for invasions, it kinda covers everything you would ever want from a weapon.
