She has a new loyal and strong yet discarded and betrayed relative consumed by a blasphemous force (and this new character also parallels Malenia like Malekith did). She has a new ancient knightly order buried partly for their crucible connections. She even has a new primordial star that communicated to her at the start of her godhood. What of ER Marika is actually left?This shit literally just doesn't work with the GEQ, Eternal Cities, Numen, Elden Ring, Fire Giant, Maliketh, and the Elden Beast. It's all building on what came before despite Marika literally burying the past legacy. It's perfect and it sets up the main conflict of the game between those who seek guidance in the old ways, those who cling to the Order, and those who want a synthesis.But now that's all gone because ackshully Marika came from a random fishing hamlet in another dimension. All that stuff with the Nox wasn't that important and happened some undisclosed time later after Marika already made herself.

Elden Ring unironically gives me the best fantasy group play out of any MMO. The gameplay isnt tab targeted or turned into autistic button mashing or heavily scripted fights where you stand and let thing resolve like in FF14. One time I got summoned for one of the DLC dungeons and we did the whole thing. I was a Mage, Phantom was a warrior, Host was a Knight. And as we were going through, I realized is is unironically the best online fantasy experience I've ever had. Having Cerulean Coast and Jagged Peak share a map was a huge mistake.
