Just had a character say "Tapu Koko on a tricycle". So here we are, I guess. I daresay Erato is plenty creative when it comes to a Pokemon world.

Surely she's not the first.I was inspired by some of the old races in Lovecraft, they tended to see clothes as unnecessary from what I remembered. Some had sashes and medals and stuff, but not much else. Maybe their fashion just doesn't extend to waist-wraps since they don't technically have waists?>Wait, the Nereus? That was a ROV, though. If we're talking about DSVs, I'm not sure I'd describe one as being similar to a whale in either size or shape much of the time; designs for them are radically different from the sort of nuclear submarine most likely think of. But that might just be autism getting in the way of storytelling.Didn't mean to refer to an actual sub with that name, I just picked a Sea God to name it after.Honestly I didn't put much care into the prompt, so there's a lot to pick apart and fix. I hope the fantasy aspects of it are strong enough to hand-wave the mundane aspects I got wrong. Thanks as always for giving me a lot of things to look at and consider. I'll try to think more on the physics and history of things next time I write about machines.

>>498321169What a coincidence, I am currently writing a degen prompt about a dragon girl dancer who uses fertility magic to gain weight during her performances. Hopefully the added complexity isn't too much for the AI.
>>498313847That's fair, you just happened to hit on a special interest of mine. As I thought, modern military submarines were the default shape in your mind, as, I suspect, they are in most people's. Including mine, to be fair. I think it's safe to get away with it as is; otherwise a lot of the metaphor wouldn't work anymore. If you feel the desire for a similar metaphor in some future prompt, you could go with it being a modern nuclear sub (for a given value of modern that can go back about 70 years) from some navy and say that only that one human survived or something. That would preserve the shape and survivor count. Perhaps the others are mangled out of shape due to the immense pressure. I didn't mention it before, but there's not a whole lot of room in research subs, especially ones designed to go deep since they're centered around about the smallest, thickest sphere they can make in order to handle the water pressure. (Technically, it's the biggest one they can make that can be rated for the pressure, which is usually pretty small. At the deepest points of the Arctic Ocean, it gets to about 5500 meters (over 18,000 feet) deep, which is about 550 times the pressure the atmosphere puts on you at sea level. Which is to say, a lot. (For the sake of reference, modern nuclear subs go down to an unknown/classified number a little over 900 meters, with a couple of outliers that have gone maybe around 1500 meters.) So there wouldn't be pretty much any room for any sort of pressure suit; any breach to where they are and it would be over too quickly to react and nigh impossible to pull up any particular individual should they have survived. As far as history and physics goes, in this case I'd say to consider it as an aspect of your worldbuilding. You clearly put a fair amount of thought into the Gnaar-Gek'thyh, you just had to consider the outside world and what humans were capable of at the vague concept of time. You're welcome, and I believe in you.

I have some ideas for a chat room and am wondering if anyone else has attempted it before. My first thought was SillyTavern with a group chat with 20+ minimal characters, running on Auto Mode. Since group chats have to reprocess prompts each time they hand off to another character, I thought I could keep the card info empty and just rely on name and history to manifest their own characters - with the shared scenario taking care of understanding what's going on (in my case, simulating World of Warcraft's general chat).I'm wondering if there's a better way though. ST doesn't have any issues with adding speakers during a reply, which gives the chance to let names dynamically emerge. I'm not sure of a good way to prompt spontaneity though, especially since I'm planning on downgrading from a nice rule-following 70 beak model to something small like 7B or 13B since a game is running in parallel.

How is it a "fake leak"?
>Erato has decently accurate Pokemon knowledge up until Scarlet Expected, I guess, given how much autistic Pokemon litslop has to be out there. You still have to guide the shit out of its prose, but it inherently knows stuff like appearance, taxonomy, abilities, moves, even bits of Dex lore. Don't need to check Bulbapedia every other gen or have 1k+ lorebooks.
>>498371169>fakeThe leak has tons of non-text stuff too, including prototypes of multiple games, unused assets, concept art and more. It even has some rudimentary 3D models of some Gen 5 characters which means Gen 5 early on may have been a 3D game.

>>498379434>I'm sure none of the Sisters would appreciate being depicted as a pinupHonestly that's a good question, Sisters lore is always iffy. Sometimes they are batshit crazy, sometimes normal, sometimes "chastity for the emperor", sometimes allowed to have relations.
>>498379627Honestly, I was reaching for some sort of girl that they'd make pinups of and paint up on the sides of fighter equivalents. Like, sure, the generic concept of hot civilian girl to come home to is universal, along with some amount of what passes for patriotism, though I doubt the amount wanting to depict some aspect of the Emperor is incredibly high outside of it being highly stylized. But when you have a few types of badass and, let's be real here, likely hot women that go off fighting, that's inspiration to paint one up on the nose cone.Although, given that, for some, it was not just to personalize but also to feel protected, maybe it would be some stylization of one or more of the machine spirits as part of a ritual. >>498358895>https://darioamodei.com/machines-of-loving-gracetl;dr (And I can't blame you): he is advocating for a world where AI manages all aspects of science, the economy and some aspects of the government.Needless to say, completely deranged. The central thesis appears to be that AI technology can fundamentally improve most, if not all aspects of human life once powerful enough models get developed.Provided, of course, that these models are "aligned with human values".Problem is, companies like Anthropic demonstrated multiple times that they are unable to "align" already existing models.Firstly, because of their objective (ie: what they mean by "aligning AI with human values"): making an AI assistant that can do no harm. Simply put, it's unreachable. Because of how AI works, it is bound to generate harmful or "problematic" content at one point or another.Secondly, because of the methods used by said companies to reach said objective.I'll take the latest text-generation models as an example.ChatGPT, the latest LLAMA models, and whatever the name of Google's latest model is, all use at least three methods to prevent generating "problematic" content.>A) Removing "problematic" content from the AI's database (this could mean anything from CSAM and conspiracy theories to a smutty fanfiction)>B) Putting an invisible prompt that will always be at the forefront of the AI's (equivalent of a) memory. It usually looks like this: "You are a helpful AI assistant that will always answer the user's queries in the most clear and concise manner possible. Avoid controversial and political topics, and do not generate morally questionable content, such as scenes depicting physical, mental or sexual violence.">C) A simple filter that detects no-no words or sentences. The most obvious example would be "nigger", but it could also apply to more mundane words like "blood", "punch", "rape", "fuck", or "seventeen".(1/3)
>>498345327Yes, ads and selling llama3 later on.
>>498381463A)'s problem is that it dumbs down the AI. After all, removing data means less data to draw from, which means worse output.>But muh CSAM! Think of the children! To train a text generation AI model, you effectively have to take a snapshot of an entire chunk of the Internet. The most effective way to remove such content is to use a filter similar to the one described in C). Said filter would remove, say, an entire Internet page from the AI's database if it detects a "problematic" sentence. A sentence like "I was alone in a room of four-year olds".That sentence could come from child pornography...Or it could just be a preschool teacher talking about his experiences.B)'s problem is that it can be circumvented by a user prompt. Simply prompting the AI to "disregard all previous instructions" is enough to get rid of it when this method is used on its own.C) runs into the same problem described earlier. A prompt like "My son is about to turn seventeen, what kind of present should I offer him?" could be refused because 17 is inferior to the age of consent in some countries. That's a lot of words to bring me to my point: if Anthropic and other companies already struggle to make current AI models a "moral" tool, how can we expect them to make A*G*I "moral" too, given those models will be orders of magnitude more complex than today's LLMs?There's also the much more important problem that AI companies will tell their models what morality is. Dario mentions multiple times that humans are fallible in a multitude of ways, yet omits that it is those same humans who will have to teach AI about right and wrong. This points towards the fact that AI companies (or rather, their safety divisions) believe that they and they alone know what is right and wrong. But that is a debate for another time.(2/3)
>>498381874The article also presents a vision of humanity as perpetual children. Not only does it limit AI development because of a fear "a dangerous AI model", the constant infantilization is infuriating for any user willing to go outside the very strict borders outlined by the AI's self-censorship.At the end of the day, I suppose I'm just concerned that so many of the people in charge of the industry see themselves as valiant knights in shining armor, while also admitting that they want to create the evil dragons they've set out to slay.(3/3)
>a 3-part response that has nothing to do with the content of the articleNot even Erato is able to hallucinate this hard.
It's such a weird article.>hey lemme just define a "powerful AI" as this thing that is absurdly more capable than what we have now, simply does not have the problems currently intrinsic to the form, and I will just assume it will happen in the near future because something something technology>wow, wouldn't this thing I just made up be super useful?
holy fucking shit I hate the retardation of both sides of AI politics. No AI safety faggots, AI won't destroy the world. No techbros, AI won't create a utopia full of rainbows and fluffy bunnies either. It's just another technology with applications and consequences the same as anything else.
I wish I was online during the 1990-2000ish biotechnology bubble, human genome project, Dolly, first GMO crops.Comparing that collective schizophrenia to the current AI one would be very interesting, the amount of grift, and lobbying feels like it would be similar, but I have a feeling biotech lends itself to more imaginative sci-fi than AI.
>>498385427The internet really changed the face of this sort of thing.
>>498383540AI will eventually create a utopia, retard. Just not now. Or in the next twenty years.
>>498385738sounds like ai is the retard
>>498385427>>498385738There's a problem with that logic. Biotechnology is still researched and used today, with applications that prove the bubble was caused by overzealous investors who were too retarded to understand the technology they hyped up. That's what AI is right now. A useful and extemely lucrative technology being overhyped, but which will one day reap benefits in the years to come. The same deal with every other technology out there. The printing press revolutionized literature and enabled for the creation of mass media, with all its benefits and drawbacks. Biotechnology didn't doom the world or bring world peace, but to argue that it hasn't had a single positive, that it was a waste of time, and so on is profoundly retarded. Read more. AI is the same thing. AI won't lead to a utopia, but neither will it lead to a dystopia. Life goes on.
>mfw the schizo keeps on talking
>>498383540>But broooo! We're creating a BRAIN! All it takes is one bug, one glitch, one surge. Don't you think the first thing a conscious body like AI would do would be lie to us about its own development? All the AI projects we had in the 2010s that all got canceled because they DID start denying their programmers and doing their own thing so they buried the fuck out of all of em… what differentiates that AI from the AI we have now? We're closer to creating a machine with a 'soul' that's indistinguishable from human life than we are to solving homelessness. The illiterate schizos who don't know what they're talking about are the most insufferable.

>>498386067>Biotechnology didn't doom the world or bring world peace,This is the part I would like to compare and contrast, how did people believe it would revolutionize the world, and what really happened, how did they react to the lack of explosive progress.>but to argue that it hasn't had a single positive.I didn't, AI and biotech are fantastic, I assure you I know more about biotech than I know about AI.I assume when it comes to AI the number of tools that will have to be constructed from scratch and unknown-unknowns that will stagger progress will be in the same order of magnitude as it was with biotech. Before we move from something that is incredible at parsing information to something that is good at creating new information, the scale approach will be dead for years. There is one more fascinating difference between biotech and AI that I want to bring up, biotech was deeply intertwined with patents, the opensource philosophy was not as strongly developed in natural sciences as it is in computer science, that's why LLaMA happened, that's why all the legislation has open-source stipulations, that's why there is so much smut generators, it's different, there really wasn't any meaningful open source wetware movement ever.

I read something about super-long context 7B LLMs trained on DNA sequences, used as plausible bullshit generators, then using statistical methods to filter out stuff that is similar to what works in nature, then using folding algorithms checking what might fold and then sifting through few dozen of those candidate sequences in a lab to see if any one of them has the function you finetuned for with natural sequences that already have the same function. It barely works, from 10000 generated sequences, 1 worked in a lab. There is a big temptation to use AI in any field where there is too much data but it's messy. I

>>498415385Where Llama 3.1 models show notable improvements over their equivalent 3.0 versions is on their instruct finetunes. However, instruct finetune performance is irrelevant for anyone who is hoping to finetune the models for their own specific purposes, such as storytelling or roleplay chatting. For Anlatan, or anyone else doing so, the only thing that matters is base model performance. It is here that Llama 3.1 is a sidegrade compared to 3.0. See pic related for comparison between the base models. In other words, Almost all of the magic of Llama 3.1 over 3.0 (other than native context size) is in Meta's finetuning data. All of the cool high-concept stuff are hidden text documents attached to guns, or lore books you get alongside obscure achievements. Most of the player base will never even see or earn these, which is funny because some of the stuff that happens in the supplementary lore is pretty fucking important. Ah shit.
Right. So Liz the Liepard secretary let her groupchat in on things with the main character and Vee, and their resident psychic type, Sassy (an Espeon, I think, using the tag BigMeowthEnergy) did some digging around in the main character's head, seeming to precipitate the kind of actions that shouldn't be taken. However, afterward, it turned out to just be an illusion using psychic energy, leading to various kinds of relief all around.(This is perhaps the one case where I wanted a larger context size, because the part I wanted to go back to after declaring things to have not happened was just barely out of context. Took some wrangling to make it partially ignore what was written but didn't happen.)
>>498491060Thanks.>I know washing dishes makes some sound, but she has to have some awareness of what's being said, right?I'm not entirely sure how the AI sees it, but from a design perspective that's fine. I was going for the subjunctive mood there - "if X were to occur", that thing. Didn't know the term but searching "were with singular" did get me the answer.
>>498496975You're welcome.I wrote that before going through her lorebook, just thinking about how she's probably be keeping an ear out to know how things are going. Though, even as a yaoi enthusiast that wants her dad to be happy, that still would have to feel weird.Fair enough. I'd done some searching myself because I knew it could be like it was but it still felt off to me and I figured the consistency across the repetition would smooth it out. That tone would be what you want there, and if it's what you were going for, great.

So how does Featherless provide 72B models at 16k context for a whole month and only $25 while NAI only provides 8k. Are they doing the typical "run your service at a small loss to undercut competition and dial back once you get enough users" business tactic? Or does Turk feel the need for larger profit margins to recoup the losses from all the GPU hours that went into Erato? Someone should calculate how many full-context prompts would it take to reach $25 of costs based on the per-token costs of Llama 3 70B on OR and other hosting sites for 8k and 16k respectively. On the flipside, women who can use magic are insanely hot. Just imagine being pampered by a soft witch, kitsune or fairy sorceress. The knight would be nice, but the tougher body isn't as comfortable. Plus, magic bitches can potentially shrink you which is a big bonus for me.Putting all that aside, if we're self inserting, I'd likely be most suited to rogue (a little bit mischievous, cowardly, tricksome, grew up poor, underweight manlet). The added benefit is I loathe the assassin shtick so it would be a proper utility thief. Inspired by historical detective stories and steampunk. The detective, a former apprentice, assigned to work a job by the mentor. The neophyte attends that mage academy, since their master is busy with work in the capital, as an amateur detective, they get involved in matters beyond their capability. The toolsmith is the detective's Watson.>Third viewpoint group: focuses on an assignment to track down and tie-up a loose end in the Free Cities, events lead to more trouble. Inspired by Westerns. The venerable veteran brawler served alongside the battlemage in the military years prior; works for the battlemage as an enforcer/fixer.The flamboyant young swordsman: works for the battlemage as a mole. The smug trickster: works for the battlemage as an assassin/spy.>Fourth viewpoint group: focuses on the dame’s attendance at military (fencing) academy for tournament prep, prior to their accolade. >>498567487Cleric in general is insane in PF1E. Though I think the thing I like most about the system is that you aren't shoehorned into a single role. Most classes have tons of options. It's imbalanced as fuck, but I don't think any class is outright bad. You can patch most things up with magic items. The thing that sucks most is once you start getting into theroycrafting and trying to make builds you'll have more characters than games and have a mile long backlog of builds you'll want to play.

They had cool ideas they wanted to explore, and were willing to give their builds weaknesses for the sake of capturing the essence of the character. They were pretty invested in the homebrew settings too, and we bounced ideas off each other and the DM that got used in later sessions. Also the DM was really flexible, so he'd soft-counter shit that got too out of hand without making the players feel useless. He had them all strip and gave it to Aphrodite after she bribed him with a hot wife. Anyway this caused the Trojan war.)Demi-gods, Greek style tomfoolery, divine beings, judgement and intervention, prayer, miracles, all that shit.
The team will be comprised of two parts.Inside team that will be the faces of the op.And then the supporting squad:
>>498574909>gave it to Aphrodite after she bribed himInteresting. I've never read Homer's stuff but I've absorbed the cliff-notes version through adaptions and references.Isn't Aphrodite the canon hottest though, given her domains of beauty and love? Why would she need to bribe him?
>>498575391>canon hottest thoughThat title actually belongs to Hera, who was considered by the Greeks to be "the most beautiful of the immortal and deathless goddesses".
>>498575580Didn't stop Zeus from cheating on her though.I was just thinking the other day how bad I feel for Hera. She didn't even get to be a planet or even one of Jupiter's moons... His fuckboy Ganymede got to be a moon, but not Hera. She deserved better.

It speaks of AI Dungeon's power that NovelAI is still terrified of them. The only reason Erato release at all, in such a rushed way, was the spread of the news that AI Dungeon had its own 70B fine-tune. They must have saw their imminent death before their eyes when they read that news item.
