The whole challenge of a good boost game (gens/unleashed) is mastering your control over Sonic, who's incredibly difficult to get a handle on if you don't know what you're doing, and the greater of a grip you get on him the better your times will be. Stomp allowing you to go from 100 to 0 in an absolute instant is invaluable for boost gameplay but useless for any other gameplay style. It also has a skill ceiling since you need to time and angle your stomps correctly in 3D, and if you stomp on a slope you get put in a slide which fucks up your direction and wasted time on top of that. Very fun and useful move for boost Sonic, useless for every other Sonic.
