Is there any downside to recruiting the pirate prisoners from the penal colony in Rogue Trader? It's weird how it's considered heretical to just let them walk away. Cassia seems to think they're being honest outside of trying to hide their actual reason for being in prison, but recruiting them seems antithetical to keeping order on the ship - introducing some random fucking pirates who could get up to who fucking knows what.I doubt there's any actual depth to this but it's something I can't help but be curious about.

Something that always bothered me about these kinds of games is the disparity between early and late game skill checks. For example, an early game bank vault requires 50 points in lockpicking to open, while a chest in a beggar's home in the end game requires 250 lockpicking to open.

Bladedancer is cool and all, but I really don't feel the archetypes that require a bunch of buff stacking to start doing reasonable damage. Just finished Icewind Dale 2, had to drop it down to easy from normal as it was honestly too hard for my first playthrough despite seemingly doing everything right. My short review: too many fights, especially ambushes. items were interesting. the story is quite shallow for a DnD game. Areas felt disjointed. Poison & Petrification & Mirror Image/Invis was way too common on enemies.
