I really like the implications of Loremaster.
I wonder what kind of fun stuff you can up to with it. I'm just scratching the surface using it for Power Attack. Seems like it'd be great for getting Uncanny Dodge or some of the high tier fighter and weapon feats. TWF estocs was so fucking broken in KM, and I see that you can take a one level dip into LM to get one-handeds treated as Light, though the menus make it hard to tell exactky what weapons they're talking about.

I can't decide if it makes sense to add Frightening Abush to a Shatter Defenses build.
Conugon makes them Shaken > Hitting Shaken makes them Flat-Footed > Hitting Flat-Footed makes them Shaken, but I'll already be hitting them with Cornugon while they're Flat-Footed, so they'll already be getting Shaken again. I guess it lets me double up on my attempts to keep them Flat-Footed?
Probably better served picking up Double Slice, Critical Focus, or Improved Critical at this point but I dunno.

WOTR has ruined caster gameplay for me in other games. I love playing CRPGs with magic classes, but no other CRPG makes you feel as powerful and useful as WOTR does.
And usually in DnD games casters can't do anything until halfway through the game, but in WOTR you are incredibly strong and useful from the first level and. So it's incredibly frustrating that other games can't provide a similar experience.

If I do a total asshole Lich playthrough of WotR, to the point I tell companions to fuck off with their little personal issues that my bony ass couldn't care less for, do I miss on a whole lot of content? Like, do any main story sequences break from it?

Also, having finished my Demon > Legend "Everyone gets redeemed" playthrough, ngl kinda disappointed. Nocticula fucking ascends offscreen. Arueshalae's brief romance moment, while cute and climactic, was not really worth me picking an evil mythic path and then holding back from being TOO evil the whole way, and doing the inconditional support of Arueshalae's redemption and Ember's teachings while otherwise acting like a raging antihero wasn't really fitting. Honestly think I'd have had a better time as Angel or Azata for my first playthrough and just done Demon as a proper evil asshole run instead of the conflicted antihero thing I tried to go for.

Honestly the whole point that makes recruiting her inexcusable is that she promises she'll do the same to all the other mongrels, and your only dialogue option is accepting the deal. It's such a hardcore evil choice that there's just no justifying it under any pretense of "I'm taking her to make her better" that any good character might justify it with. Go either warrior for tankiness or Bladedancer for damage. Don't sweat about builds too much, you will get most of the talents you'd want anyway due to massive level cap.

Weapon Skill= melee weapons (I think the Crime Lord background already gives a bonus to this, so that's good)
Then you want either Fortitude or Agility for defense, prob Fort
Perception is interesting because it lowers dodge resistance for anyone, which is something that you are fighting against because the game says that a melee attack 'always hits' but then it might miss due to dodges or parries (so it doesn't always hit???), and your dodge reduction mitigates this
Speech check wise, most of the time the game lets you use the person with the highest stat (Fellowship=Charisma), except in certain situations where you are alone and it wouldn't make sense for them to be helping you. Also there was at least one time where I was unable to use someone's own speech skill against them which I thought was cool/good. Fellowship also ties into the Officer/Strategist/Tactician abilities

The basic strategy is to use ignite and orchestrate flames to light yourself on fire and get on-hit flame damage on all your attacks.
Take whatever looks good early on, later you can always respec on the flagship later.

Act 1 will be where most of the game's difficulty is so enjoy it while you can.
Act 2 you get your 2nd archetype. Here are the basic guidelines:
>more psykers is always better as they can stack buffs
>more officers is always better as they can give free turns
>you need at least 1 grand strategist who can spam strategems on the frontline zone to keep your team alive
>you always want a biomancer on the team who can use invigorate to heal fresh wounds
>you'll want a dedicated DPS on the team
>try to get a team that can cover all the skills if you can

I think most of what I get out of this game is just making fun characters. The premise of what happens to Kenabres at the beginning of the game serves as this disaster movie kind of thing where it's a justification for characters with disparate backgrounds to team up, which is narrative gold (sir)

The Alchemists are the most fucked part of playing these fights turn-based. They get to chuck five flasks like the fucking Flash, but they can't pull that baloney in real-time

What's your favourite CRPG from the combat perspective?
The fights in the the last game I played felt like a chore I had to do to get to the roleplay bits.

Maybe so, but action gameplay is not what I look for in crpgs. Otherwise Veilguard might as well be the game that "will save crpgs".

Never aactually played BG3, but out of curiosity: Is the romance overhyped or is it actually big? Or is it just like in WOTR with a few big scenes and little bits in between? Are the romances referenced during other dialogues here and there or do they just exist in the "scene instance"

You can get Woljif as soon as Act 3 starts by just going the correct ways. If I remember right (you might have to google it), first you go west of the Temple of Delamere, then you go south from Drezen on the way to Wintersun.

So the fact you somehow missed him despite already doing the dragon and Wintersun is kinda wierd. Did you do Wintersun THEN the dragon? Did you go for the dragon through some wierd alternative way, like all the way around the lake?

What was the last time a crpg romance actually influenced the story itself beyond just sprinkling in some additional scenes here or there? I can only think of three cases.

BG3 is very frontloaded so romances end in the first or second act
Game really pushes them on you since it initiates romances using your reputation with characters, ie you can start romance without talking to a character just by getting "X character liked this" (which is why a lot of people complained that Gale is molesting them)
Also very cringey sex scenes
Oh, also some companions (Karlach) didn't have a good ending at all in original release since part of the town with blacksmith needed for the quest was just cut. Maybe they fixed it but I'm not sure since I haven't played with all patches
Narrative-wise they're pretty mediocre as well. RT and even Wotr have a much better narrative for romances

Soundrel/ Knight/ Loremaster for Power Attack > Cornugon > Shatter is seeming pretty damn good so far.
Something wierd, I don't know if it's a bug, but it only seems to happen when hitting demons and beasts, the combat log claims I'm casting Cause Fear.

I really want to try this as a full caster for level 9 spells, or at least 8 since there's that AoE fear spell in there, since BAB will be less of an issue hitting FF mobs.
