The whole hiding in smoke thing is more a byproduct of setting smoke to absorb.Problem is, this game is loaded with characters who can kill you for free with the slightest bit of knowledge without having to first set up a stage hazard and charge it up three times and then find a way to combo into it at fairly high percentages, so Fors suffers. It's better generally to play him as a swordy and use his smoke mechanics as a secondary option.

The only characters you can genuinely whiff punish are Lox and I guess maybe some of Clairen's power moves.This is how every plat fighter winds up that wants to be Melee but thinks it can appeal to casuals by dropping one of Melee's most essential aspects. Ironically it then does the opposite because casuals come in and get run over by free aerial spam at low and mid level where normally players would miss L-Cancels on shield and open up punish opportunity.
