Sonic 3 left me very disappointed. The story's pacing felt rushed giving no time for Gerald+Maria+Shadow's side of the events, and instead dedicated way too much time to Robotnik hijinks. Team Sonic, Tom, and everything involved with the Heroes' plot of the story was just weak. This is the most unlikeable Sonic has been for all the films.The biggest compliment I can give is Robotnik got a great send-off, and it was nice seeing Wade again. This was not worth the wait, and I don't think I'll be coming back for Movie 4.

Literally every time the movie decided to do its own plot thing instead of adapting SA2 more faithfully it became worse. Why not have him mention a promise to Maria at all. His death was one of series' greatest scenes.
Unpopular take but I would love the idea of Sonic having more action movie plots like SA2.Stuff inspired by Die Hard or Fast and the Furious would be great Maybe Shadow can get those stories.
I don't like that the movie is the third time Shadow takes his limiters off and once again we are never told why they are significant before hand. As a kid I assumed they were weights.

I just saw it. Got really tired of Jim Carrey by the end of it. Sonic Adventure 2 is melodramatic anime stuff, but it works. That shit was crack cocaine to me as a kid. Going from Live and Learn to Robotnik getting spanked felt like some bizarre pacing and it was like that throughout the entire movie, whenever there was a scene that got any kind of emotional reaction out of me it got followed up by eggman slapstick. It felt like what people accuse Marvel of being. All the stuff with Shadow and Maria felt nice (Maria playing the acoustic live and learn at the start was the strongest bit of the movie for me) and I liked it when Gerald was actually allowed to be sad and angry. I guess I was hoping for the sonic adventure 2 movie to be more earnestly dorky than it ended up being.
