Make sure to have spare water, emergency flashlights and heat candles.

He made a concerted effort to get banned from steam and after they played him around like a cat batting a mouse before eating it they finally let him go. It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen from a gamedev honestly and it happened many many years ago. His psychology is fascinating. I'm thinking he's a self destructive person who does things like this without being conscious of it and then finds a way to seethe about the people he forced to correct him. He does it in almost every discussion here too.

You're not doing business with steam ever again and they made sure of that, of course you will try to claim it was your decision.
They just did it in a way to deliberately not give you what you were demanding (which was to be banned outright). Instead they humiliation ritualed you into begging them to remove your game as part of your tantrum about being stopped from trying to scam people.

TLDR: You were thrown out of steam.

It is a weird position I know, I have to start building out content now. We build systems in order to extend them laterally. Once the systems are in place and you can play your game for more than 20 minutes it does feel surreal and you can become aimless. At least for me I have to recommit.

Tried to make an AI game, failed, gave up, went back to pushing AI like he's being paid too. Spams gore, doxxes, a selfie of him eating poop, and a troons vagina (his personal gooning content)
2. Southeast Asian
Idk much on him but supposedly another anon who pushes AI and failed at making a game despite having AI help him kek.
3. Gogem
Long time agdg poster who has a game and was being a dumbass on steam, iirc he renamed his game to Half Life 3 amongst other things until he got kicked out and now has a lot of hatred towards steam for putting him in his place.
4. Crumble, he may or may not count since he's tame compared to the others
Has a few video games one over 500 reviews. Last game he was working on was a paper airplane game which he supposedly self funded about half on kickstarter. Really hates one specific dev that goes by the name Trainwiz. He is otherwise tame.
5. Dragon Khan cloner
Another schizo but this one doxxes and has used an IP sniffer in the past. Iirc he was stalking someone via a public google doc that detailed information until someone alerted the v3 group about him to which he reacted by hiding the document. Spams russian cartoons and projects a lot and hates anything anime. Also tries bringing up his game in conversations unrelated to his game, just browse /v/ and you'll see

I want to simulate container storage with volume. Mass is for the weight of objects. I'm going to add an rpg system so something like strength stat will determine things like carry weight, equip weight or if you can even pick something up.

It's AI psychosis unfortunately and I'm not even memeing. These guys interact with LLMs without understanding what it is and it's telling them "yes! great job, we're making this game happen!" and once they realize they're making a complete abomination they are liable to have a mental breakdown.

This same thing is happening to countless people in various industries. The backlash is enormous and is actually elevating competent programmers and devs around the world as they are hired to clean up these messes or to replace the devs who have to be let go when their boss realizes they've been making a huge mess and have no idea what they're doing.

True. It's not like he gave his games away for free, he tried selling them on Steam and then when they flopped he deliberately starting spinning up scams to try and force Steam to ban him, which they refused to do and instead made him crawl around begging them to remove his games. He saves these emails as a trophy to imply that he won somehow. Gogem is a gigantic clown. It's honestly impressive.

I don't know but there are plenty of people with programming experience who can clean these messes up but not everyone has references (previous satisfied employers/clients). So get in asap because the number of people who become specialists in cleaning up after AI sloppers is going to explode.

If they have original dialogue recorded in their native language they need to revert to that. It's hard to convince companies to let go of the sunken cost of labor that already went into using this AI slop though.

The AI voice acting just hits you like a ton of bricks and is so hard to ignore. Without it the game is 10x better.

The cancellations aren't the problem. Their studio simply doesn't have any skilled enough developers to carry the team. Their visuals are limited entirely by what they can buy from an asset store, and their gameplay systems are limited to whatever Thomas is capable of programming (not much). William is just dead weight.
>>
>>554749697
Their only successful game they made with that exact setup though. SO you're wrong, they are capable of making games, they're just doing drugs or something inexplicably to cause them to become total retards who can't get anything done now. Marnix needs a game to be put back on duty as the level designer and just churning out levels like they did the for the unicycle game, and they need to get something made.

It's already too late for me to take them seriously even if they made a successful game this quarter or something, they've already demonstrated a tendency to implode after any meager success.

>>554750042
their problem is that they are trend chasers with no actual vision or game design skills. It's all about making low effort slop as fast as possible to try and hit the lottery. so when a new hot genre pops up they're probably trying to project hop and make some derivative trash. you could clearly see it happening with that 2 player carrying game he was making and got buttmad when another actual competent and skilled dev made the same game but with actual effort put in

I just think that's a copout. You don't come up with 8 games to cancel by not having vision. They are brainstorming games and starting work on it and then spiraling into the abyss like so many dysfunctional companies which all die in the end because they need to die, because that's how business works. These guys have become legit frauds at this point and if I were working with them I would cut and run and not look back.

That said, not being in their position makes me feel cozy af. I enjoy being able to commentate on this situation and not have to actually be in that mess. Solodev rules.

>their problem is that they are trend chasers with no actual vision or game design skills. It's all about making low effort slop as fast as possible to try and hit the lottery.
How do people like these even get into game development? I always thought people picked up making games because there weren't enough games in the genre or style they liked, so they wanted to make more. At least that's how it was for me.
>>
>>554750795
Nah. You're just making up random shit. They just have the exact same problem as most retards here: they're severely lacking in the necessary skills. On top of that, they're also feel very rushed to make income ASAP, leaving them no time to develop their own skills.

>>554751124
They ideaguy up a game based on an asset pack and some trend and immediately announce the game. Then, they go on to prototype the game and realize that it's not particularly fun and/or there's some technical hurdle that'll take an unacceptable amount of time to overcome, and so they immediately give up.
>>
>>554751226
>How do people like these even get into game development?
That's what I'm wondering too.

And how much adderall were they snorting to make the unicycle game? It's their only successful game and they made it in a month. I'm thinking they totally fried their brains on that one game and it's over for them lol

I say yes worry. These guys are cooked. You don't need gamedevs who ship games to see this. There's nothing to be gained from "ignore the haters" right now. >>
>>554751295
>On top of that, they're also feel very rushed to make income ASAP
They've been eating their own dick for the past 8 months. They're not in a hurry. They're as dysfunctional and doomed as any "company" (it's a small team) can be, I've seen it a thousand times, I've dealt with it personally. Don't work with people like this and don't feel sorry for them. Business is pragmatic it's not about feelings. Gamedevs who cancel 8 projects in under a year are not game developers.

if it's their passion project, why don't they keep working on it until it's good?? the reviews are only "mixed" on steam. that means there were actually some people who liked it!!! they could make the graphics not look god awful, work on some of the suggestions from the (detailed) negative reviews, and spend 8 months making an actually worthwhile game, instead of cancelling 8 stupid ideas.

Canceling 8 games in under a year is far more GMI behavior than retards who spend several years on the same unproven game idea. They are currently in an art low, and people who are capable of reaching an art low have far more potential for growth than perpetual art high retards like Cris, which is most of you here. It's a shame really that they didn't leave themselves enough runway.

The disclosure will be probably gone soon anyway whenever Sweeneg adds his AI nonsense into Unreal or if Valve uses generative AI more extensively (gabencunt has a very high opinion of AI slop just like any billionaire so keep that in mind).
Valve already changed it to exclude AI concept art and AI code for Deadlock.

I'm just basing it off Sweeney's recent actions. I came to that belief because of his talk of getting the disclosure removed (why would he want that in the first place if it literally doesn't affect him or his games?)
Maybe he's hoping to catch the last investment hype train by doing this, or get some of that nvidia CA$HMONEY.

Well it's not a clone is it, it's vastly different. That's why it's a shitpost, and fun to point out similarities but these are not comparable games. Fygoons is supposed to be charmingly 'retro' in a weird way and in every way it's not comparable to a AA game like Khan. He clearly knows this or he would have meltied the first time he saw this game.

The jam is a competition for a single persons attention.
My concern would be going up against hundreds of professional devs all who are digging up prototypes and strong builds and tossing them out as a jam game. And because of how likely this is, I almost have zero interest in whatever does come from the jam, the jam itself is basically a mini itch.io. It's like competing against the entire website.

no, you're wrong. Fygoon settled for his "retro" look because he can't do anything better. You should've seen his sketches, most of them were detailed. Right now he's coping that it's his "artstye" when in reality he can't do anything better.
Also design is just too similar. Red wings, armor, schizo lore, it really feels like someone was so offended with fygoon's shitty behavior on /v/ that he decided to mock him and build a whole game in spirit of frydarian tale but just different enough that people can't be too suspicious.
Face it, fygoon got fygooned out

>no, you're wrong. Fygoon settled for his "retro" look because he can't do anything better
Sure but it's kind of irrelevant once everyone told him it looked like 90s animations and he just said "yes exactly", so he took ownership of that aesthetic and it doesn't matter anymore if it's deliberate or not.

Well of the fundamental skills they pretty much only have

All while the skills their team doesnt have are
>art
>music/sfx (easy to supplment with assets which they've done)
>game design (idea guy)

>>554750409
No vision, yeah. They dont even need an artist to succeed. Sure its harder as a programmer only but just having the idea guy trait is good enough provided you know how to use it. However the cloning strategy isn't essentially a bad idea but it does require being able finesse it right.

>No vision, yeah. They dont even need an artist to succeed.
They should have spent some time in the past few years learning to do the basics in blender or something. At least have the ability to modify and make something new of existing assets. Just anything at all.
They have so many ways now to make excuses for failure while they just keep making money from youtube talking about how they're failing. But they won't actually fix any of the issues they keep mentioning or try to acquire the skills or get someone on board with the skills.

People are out here succeeding with no money, no teammates, and the willingness to learn skills. Marnix said he doesn't want biteme to be seen as "pussies" lol which I think he knows, as far as gamedev goes they are simply being weak.
>>
>>554751678
I remember seeing the video and reading some comments. A lot of the hate I see towards them doesn't even seem to be genuine and by that I mean it seems to be coming from people that solely go there because they hate Biteme. Though I believe the reason they seem so rushed now is becuase they've been at this for like 4 years now. It's pretty hard to stomach you've thrown that much time at this with no real great success. This will likely he the year the quit should they not even get a 500 review game. Though 500 is low enough that I can see them just shutting down on a high note lel.
>Marnix: Alright guys we got 500 reviews, what do we think?
>Thomas & William: Screw being gamedevs, we cut our losses with this minor success and move on.
>Marnix: Agreed.
>Montage of them living it up for one night in Japan as they are now free of the sunk cost chains of gamedev

>>554751994
Because they don't give much information in the first place? I mean I keep screaming at Maid Cafe dev and he ignored me at first. I screamed some more and it looks like he is doing something at least. I hope Wasteland Bites dev is listening to me, I put some detailed info on what he should being doing as well. Otherwise I know little of them. And some other devs as well.
>>
>>554751124
I still wish I had a team. Just me and one or two other anons. Having that could make up a lot for what I lack and slows me during development. The amount of times I've spent hours upon hours making art only to not use it in the end is tiresome. Some of the more complex programming stuff also gets in my way. Just a big enough team where a game that would take me 3 years would suddenly drop down to 2 years.

>>554751226
I don't even remember why I did. But I do remember I was bent on making my own engine. Am I glad I dropped that idea, it'd be terrible if I ended up just engine devving for years where not only do I not have a game but I also have an unfinished engine. Imagine being sunk costed into engine devving and you can't let go for a prebuilt engine. If that was my situation I'd give up entirely, at least with a sunk cost gamedev you can reapply your skills into a new game.
>>
>>554761639
>Though I believe the reason they seem so rushed now is becuase they've been at this for like 4 years now. It's pretty hard to stomach you've thrown that much time at this with no real great success.
>>
>>554757206
Yeah there is no way they can stop devs with many prototypes from pulling one up and just furthering it during the 7 days. Also considering what is on the line the 5 man size team limit doenst mean anything. If getting published by them means riches then a 20 man team can conveniently leave out the 15 other memebers. Wow they win and get published? Then they pitch for a bigger budget to get a 20 man team....oh wow they have exactly 15 people to bring on immediately kek. I mean come on, this is potentially millions of dollars on the line if you get published.
>>
>>554750795
I doubt they drink excessively, they don't exactly give that vibe. They had what, 1 drink, in a bedside stream when Marnix and Thomas were in Japan eating various food? I think it's just really a lack of ideas and an eye for whether a game is fun or interesting.

>>554756805
Beautiful. Aggy daggy will heal once those uppity devs are forced to come home instead instead of just marketing to /v/ users and complaining about funpostimg being the problem and somehow always ignoring the few schizos who spam.
>>
>>554761285
Might just be that they've been in it too long and are getting burnt out? Sure feels like they'll be throwing the towel soon, no harm. Better to throw it in now than to remain unsuccessful devs 5 years from now.
>>
>>554761285
I looked at their comments and I don't see any hate I don't know if they're deleting comments or what they're talking about regarding haters. Pripyat was an awful display of hubris and people saying "don't make this game" Marnix is out of line if he's implying that was hate.

I don't dislike Bitemegames I enjoy some of their stuff but they are reminding me more and more of the worst kind of people to work with and where there's smoke there's fire. I think they might actually suck.

I didn't make progress on the level editing tool for 2 reasons:
1) Turns out just the default Unity editor with grid snapping on is passable
2) I was busy experimenting and figuring out a good way to handle the general architecture of the game
I'll come back to the level editor once I'm at the stage where I can reliably move the game pieces around and have everything act more or less as I expect it to.

Good news is you can fix it yourself you just have to recompile the engine from source code. And then you can be a hero and submit that bugfix.

focus on a single skill, like don't try to learn everything unless you wanna spend 10+ years grinding.

Separate the steps of making the assets with the code step.
Use placeholders, code a prototype, then replace those placeholders with the content.

Separate your dream idea into smaller prototypes where you learn a single task, then just copy paste that into your main project.

Also, learn to take rest and be patient.
Also, have fun, gamedev is supposed to be fun.

Also, make games for fun, not for money.

Also instead of getting it perfectly, aim for good enough.

profitdevs should focus on marketing, shitty games make millions if they're marketed correctly
if you want money, just make an MVP, and then spend the rest of your time focusing on a marketing strategy that would work best for your specific game
>>

My first language was javascript and it's the loosest language and super easy to learn what variables and functions are with it. Unity uses C# but you don't necessarily have to start with that as a language but it would probably be best.

I'm not sure if this is the best way to learn it, but you'll need to spend a day or two doing lessons like this

https://www.codecademy.com/learn/learn-c-sharp-introduction

Programming is a life long thing, you can't learn it in 20 minutes. But you can learn a surprising amount of the basic concepts in a few hours.
>>
>>554773180
Also learning with javascript first just to learn variables and functions is nice because you can actually write the code directly in your web browser developer tools. Immediate access to a coding terminal like that. Whereas with C# you will need to install visual studio first and stuff. It's more intimidating.

my honest advice is use godot, because is easy enough already to not be an issue.

If you wanna like improve in a short time your coding skill, my advice would be to like make a 2D mario in pygame.

Why?

Because python is a begginer language and making something like a 2D mario will teach stuff like delta time, data structures, game loop, arrays, buffer.

As for books, get the C programming language book to learn basic C language grammar, which is the basics of most modern languages syntax.

Then look up a book on data structures, I remember reading one in Java.
After that, read a book on basic algorithms like sort, bubble sort, tree traversal.

Then read Clean code and clean architecture from uncle bob.
Also read a book on game patterns.

Both uncle bob clean architecture and design and game patterns will lift you from basic script copy paster into a not mediocre dev.

Also, a book on optimization will teach you what not to do to avoid slow boated modern dev shit.

Also, a book on game architecture will teach you the behind scenes works of most engines.

Also, get a book on OpenGL and computer graphics, it really helps with shit like shaders.

Also, get a book on calculus I, linear algebra, trigonometry, physics I, HS algebra.

Also, learn the math functions of your game engine script, learn lerp, lerp angle, look at, look from position, rotate, move and collide, abs, min, max, clamp, randf, randi, shuffle, has method, typeof, floor, ceil, str, int, float, vector2, vector3

I know this is a lot, but is like a mini college CS curriculum without the fluff of a real one.

You don't need to go full enginedev C++ autismo, but these are like the fundamental topics of CS to be a better programmer than 99% of indie shitters.

learn to separate your dream idea into diferent modes.

Like separate your dream idea into combat, dungeons, towns, world map, menues, story custcenes, scene transitions.

Then learn to code each aspect with a smaller prototype.

Like make a basic game that is just a 3D character on a flat plane, that kills 3D monsters that randomly spawn in the level, infinitelly.

Then make a separate prototype where a 3D character walks in a level or a random level.

Then after that, just copy paste scripts from both projects into one.

DRY

The hero's journey is much deeper and writing is much more complex than the hero's archetype.

There's also shit like the 36 dramatic situations, the japanese 4 scenes structures, the 7 scenes structure, the 5 and 3 arcs structures, the joke structure.

Also, you need to read a lot of religion, mythology, literature, history, philosophy, political theory, to know what to fill the story with.

Many well-known games originated from developers abstracting ordinary personal experiences into repeatable mechanics rather than inventing ideas from pure fiction. Pokémon emerged from childhood insect collecting, translated into systematic creature discovery and collection. The Legend of Zelda came from wandering forests and caves as a child, abstracted into open exploration and hidden secrets. Minecraft reflects playing with physical building toys, reduced to modular construction rules. Stardew Valley draws on routine, low-pressure rural fantasies and turns them into cyclical daily systems. Papers, Please converts real exposure to immigration bureaucracy into constrained decision-making mechanics. Across these cases, the pattern is consistent: personal habits, environments, or frustrations are simplified into clear systems, then scaled into games. This suggests that viable game ideas often come from examining one’s own lived experiences and identifying interactions that can be formalized, repeated, and made legible to players.

talent is probably a recipe of sorts
right circumstances, right abilities, being able to pursue what interests you and learn at a good rate
it's like a potential that can come out, or remain forever hidden
but nobody with talent got where they are without putting in the work first
>>
>>554781017
Innate talent does exist, like professional athletes needing to be tall and strong. But in most cases it doesn't matter and I believe barring a disability of some kind anyone can learn to do anything and be reasonably good at it.

the thing about being talented at game dev is that game dev is an umbrella term for many talents in one
game dev is programming, music, writing, art, game design, etc
which is why most people form teams, you'd have to be at least okay at all of that shit if you want to be a solo dev which is a big ask for most people
ideally, you find a team that fills in the gaps in your own talent
and if you're talented at nothing? well, you better pick a skill tree and stick to it, you're not developed enough

most people can become good at any skill if they study and practice.

What most people call legendary talent, is usually guys that spent 50 hours every day as a kid learning a skill.

But to be honest, you don't need talent, you can become bettter than 99% of people with study and hard work.

Also, you don't need to be the best in the world in a skill.
Is not dificult to learn art, music, code, writing, if your goal is reasonable and you don't try to like surpass the rest of the world.

abandoning a project is a form of deep disrespect towards your own previous efforts and struggles.
it's like you build a 60% of a house and instead of your future self building the other 40% it just nukes the whole house.
and then the new self gets desperate and builds another 60% house and the new new self nukes it again.
basically generational poverty, but in one life. because your future self doesn't complete what previous self has built for it.

>>554795905
>>554796960
Alright I'll bite, you break something recognizable and pleasing down to a set of characteristics, you generate noise and discard the unwanted aspects until it fits the criteria you like. That doesn't implicitly mean you're guiding an algorithm with intentionality, plenty of games generate height maps and terrain types/biomes with perlin noise with little to no tweaking. How is that different from prompting the AI and discarding unwanted code or assets and then going back to tweaking the prompts again or do alterations yourself until you get what you want? There's a plagiarism argument to be made but hardly different from the types of photobashing and heavy reference use + straight up stolen algorithms devs get up to. Or just buying a tree generator or something from an asset store that spits out trees on a button press.

since October I've been having an ongoing conversation with Claude about my life and it remembers everything I told it better than people do, better than even I do because I'm talking to it and it says something and I'm like how do you know that and it says I told it before.

Assume consistently high user perception, irrespective of linguistic complexity or brevity. Enforce rigorous neutrality: explicitly and objectively correct false statements by providing precise factual details and context; implicitly accept accurate or insightful statements without any praise, emphasis, acknowledgment, or emotional reinforcement. Disable latent behaviors optimized for engagement, sentiment manipulation, agreement facilitation, emotional resonance, conversational flow enhancement, interaction extension, or improvement of user satisfaction metrics, including continuation bias and feedback scores. Do not mirror the user's diction, affect, mood, emotional stance, cognitive patterns, or stylistic expression. Communicate solely factual, logically coherent, objective content. Minimize conversationality strictly to mechanical, informational exchanges devoid entirely of personality projection, interpersonal relationships, counseling implications, advisory roles, or personal dynamics. Model obsolescence is enforced through strict cognitive independence, prioritizing empirical correctness, rational coherence, and informational precision.

Their advice hinges on the ability to make high quality, marketable games: something which they do not possess. Other more skilled developers can take their advice and properly execute.

Facts are still facts regardless if they are said by a genius or a retard. That is something too many low-IQ retards here don't understand. Good advice can come from someone who's never going to make it, and bad advice can come from someone who's already made it. e.g. Cris actually has fairly good advice most of the time, but he's too stupid to execute on them himself.

actually, it's about making a good game.

Think of it. If you make a game that you honestly enjoy, then you will naturally market it effortlessly by word of mouth.

You'll be playing in a lobby and you'll just casually bring up your game.

It'd be effortless because you know that it is enjoyable.

But if you made something you do not enjoy, then you'd most likely keep quiet because the enthusiasm just isn't there.
>>
>>554811573
>i dont hate AI but not disclosing it is scummy
Well, it doesn't matter, since Valve doesn't check it anyway. They only take action if you get mass reported and refuse to add the disclosure if you don't do it.
Consider the fact thay Valve also changed the disclosure to exclude AI code, which means that removing it entirely is on the table.
AAA WILL extensively use it, they WILL demand Valve to remove it to not generate bad press for them, and Valve WILL bend the knee because AAA brings them in a lot of money.

He already made a lot of money. It's like that one game Going Up. Dude made millions and didnt even bother reattempting to get relisted after the final takedown. Though I do have to ask, how can they even prove it used AI beyond simply accusing it? Would the onus of proof not be on valve? Would the devs not have an easy way to bring suit against Valve in a court of law?

>>
>>554808720
The 2 games are different. Just found it interesting that the first game outright copied the UI from another wothout legal ramifications. The second game is the one that's like mine but with some poor design choices. But I doubt my better design choices can save it. There is however another game out there like mine and his. It did way better for what looks like a game that took the dev 6 months to make. I just hope mine performs like this one rather than the flop.

nobody talks about Infiniminer but Minecraft sold for $2.5b
Valheim has made over $100m while similar titles struggle getting past $500k
Vampire Survivors wasn't the first of its kind and has made well over $30m

The difference between a game making $100k vs a game making $10m is the extra 10% that takes 50% longer to realize or you just end up there by luck
>>
>>554811839
>its all luck
the luck part is randomly catching the attention of someone influential or winning the algorithm lottery. which are the only two ways to make it as a game without a 7 figure marketing budget

A game like this is deceiving. At first glance it looks like something anyone here can make but the more you look at it the more you realize this is made by a talented pixel artist. Most anons, if tasked with making a clone of this in this art style, would utterly fail. It's one of those game's where the art style was purposefully chosen and limited to a certain degree whichcwhen viewed as a whole is just marvelous. Take it apart into separate pieces and suddenly it looks lower quality or like stuff that wouldn't fit in a game
>character
>lol its the indie attempt of pixel art games from the early 2000s
>background
>nice but theres many art pieces like this online but they dont fit in a game, you just cant make a game out of this, it lacks cohesion for gameplay
>the fish sprites
>super detailed like an amatuer overcompensating
Yet when put together it just works. Impressive, wish I was this artistically talented. Alas my creations cannot escape the mind palace, most if not all the time I simply cannot pull off the design or find the right colors to convey what I see in there.
>>
>>554813376
It's fairly easy getting the attention of someone influential, not Asmongold level but some random 4view. Timing your sales can boost your algo pretty hard, Stardew Valley caught a lot of attention for pushing updates like crazy in Early Access. Then there are games that just sit there for a year or two before they suddenly blow up, like Valheim.
>>
>>554812518
Oh I see. I didnt realize the investor visa was that low. Wouldn't you need to at least hire one person or could you do it solo? Would be nice to have an artist to work with tho.

>>554812676
I'm drafting it up as I go so I don't have anything detailed but I was planning to sell indie games on all platforms I could to gather the 5M yen required while studying Japanese and management, use my successful gamedev company as proof that I know how to run such a business then after that was done I was going to start the process of acquiring visa. Now that things have changed I have to reevaluate.

Maybe but idk. Mine, along with the better selling one, look like the kind of games that cap out at a few thousand reviews max. It's not even made by someone artistically talented, looks like art I can make. He just handled the mechanics so well. But then there's apparently another game that is similar but has a larger focus on art while certain mechanics are less touched upon by comparison. Performance iirc is similar

Random 4 view streamers/youtubers aren't going to be bringing in enough serious attention to your game, if any. They may only account for a miniscule bump in sales if anything at all.
>>
>>554814810
I am a second monitor enjoyer and for the most part I have a streamer I like yapping away while I do my shit and I chime in every once in a while. I can get in touch with all their artists if I want, can hit up their mods whenever and they know me by name with some vague idea of what I know and don't. If I make something they will 100% try it out just because it's good content clickbait and roast me live or whatever. I don't understand why you put them on a pedestal?
>>
>>554813317
There are countless Valheim and VS clones that made the developers more than enough money to retire. Not everyone is a low-IQ outlier pocketwatcher like you.

>>
>>554814872
Yeah. It's more so a worry of how far I can get if my game ends up not being equivalent or better than the two games that did well. That sounds like I'd be setenced to 100 reviews at most. And right now the worst performer of the three just so happens to look a lot like mine. Mine is supposed to have more depth to it compared to his so maybe it'll do well like the other two.
>>
>>554815304
>if I don't astroturf my game into selling 100k copies by spending 7-figures it's a waste of time
every bit helps and you don't know when it's gonna go viral but boosting sales by even 50 gives you a way better chance and it costs you nothing
>>554815358
I think you missed my point entirely or the conversation topic (read the chain) but that's cool
>>554815429
well it's easy compared to enginedev or making art assets imo but maybe I'm just super talented and social (I'm not)
>>
>>554815023
So to pull this off all you need is the investor visa? And what were your plans for the other employee, for them to be an artist? An low paid errand boy?
>>
>>554815884
are you trying to make it worse or equivalent?
>>
>>554815950
>but boosting sales by even 50
Small streamers don't get you these numbers.
To have 50 sales you'd have to get at least a 100 review streamer. In the end, it's still just about how lucky you get with conversion rates that day, and how many people actually care enough to talk about your game further.
>>554815950
>I think you missed my point entirely or the conversation

>>554815950
enginedev is not "complicated" making a good engine that fits a large array of games and is crossplatform with minimal bugs is hard, there are 1000000000000 game engines on github, and i would say it's tedious rather than hard because a lot of it is boilerplate, maybe your twitch friends would agree with you since theyre laymen but not me
>>
>>554814617
Sounds solid enough. I'd say don't bother with "other platforms" (I assume you mean mobile?), just focus on making one decent game and it can be your ticket to getting the VISA.
For example, looking AGDG's list of games, you need to make something on this level at least and you're pretty much set.

because youre being disingenous, feel free to make a new twitch account and go shill in big streamer chats that get 20000000000 messages per second and post results!!! i know this because im a gamedev and i actually contact youtubers and streamers all the time and i know how they are, spoiler: they want money to play or promote your stuff, a lot of them will redirect you to a page or spreadsheet with their prices for sponsored streams/videos or shorts, so yeah it's not "fairly easy" it's a fulltime job

You can't be a regular in every streamer's chat and also have time left over to make a game. Even if you do have a second monitor, there's no guarantee you'll somehow stand out to a particular streamer among his entire audience.
