On the note of Jeralt's death, an interesting bit of symbolism that I picked up on is the music. The track that plays is called "The Dream is Over" which also plays when someone dies in part 2. This scene is the first time that anyone Byleth cares about dies. I personally think the reason the music plays when a unit dies, is that it represents Byleth remembering the emotions they felt when Jeralt died and going through that again.
