what are the margins for pokemon cards? I bought some sealed stuff with coupons and shit at gamestop and I want to flip it at a card shop but I don't want to look like an asshole and ask for more than their margins. I have a mabisstiff box, 1 pack, and 3 elite trainer boxes. the pack was free, the mabosstiff was 7 dollars, and the elite trainer boxes were buy 2 get one plus I had coupons so I paid 96 dollars for all 3 they retail for 49.99.
I'm debating selling 100 or master ball holo sv2a cards I pulled from packs at this collectathon today. Thinking I should wait for them to increase in value, though.Had 8 cards sent into PSA to be graded. Hope those jews give me some juicy 10s.
e-reader pokemon cards are the only cards that matter
>still buying modern
>>56560911why would any card shop buy sealed stuff from some random shitter
>>56560856tell them this>>56560928
>>56560977fuck yeah lucky 7s
>>56560982Lol I'll do this tomorrow when I go back. How do I look this smug though
>>56560863Thanks for the answer.>2)English and Japanese are the only languages that matter.>3) Europe's market is smaller, due to population, relative interest, and the fact that everyone speaks a different languageHow can these things both be true at the same time? So, do Europeans prefer to buy cards in their own language or do they prefer English/Japanese?Do you have any personal favourites regarding new cards that will appreciate in the near future? Do you guys speculate on new singles at all or do you just buy what you like? I used to speculate with Magic, was pretty good at it but I don't have enough knowledge and experience about Pokemon to do that.
>>56561782>How can these things both be true at the same time? So, do Europeans prefer to buy cards in their own language or do they prefer English/Japanese?English and Japanese bring the highest prices 99/100 times. That doesn't mean people don't collect other languages though. It's not always about the cash. There's also fewer people selling english/japanese cards in germany than there are in america. It's not like the pool size is tiny or nonexistent, just smaller.I would look up lists of the top 10-15 most popular pokemon from each generation. Then cross reference those pokemon with the top rarity of cards they've had printed recently. Then go from there. There are always outliers though. For example, there's an Illustration Rare of Magikarp that is really expensive relative to it's popularity and card rarity. It got hyped up and has only gone up in price.
>>56561873>For example, there's an Illustration Rare of Magikarp that is really expensive relative to it's popularity and card rarity. It got hyped up and has only gone up in price. You mean the one by Shinji Kanda? That one is beautiful, I'd buy it if it wasn't so expensive. I'll get the Moltres instead.>I would look up lists of the top 10-15 most popular pokemon from each generationHow do you do that?
>>56561971Survey results. There have been a few big surveys done throughout the years. You could compare their results and I'm sure you'll find commonalities.
>>56562032Not sure I trust polls but it's better than nothing. Better would be sales volumes, after removing competitive cards.
I spent a week bidding on an old infernape card and got sniped last minute. I’ll have one of each design soon enough.
>>56562208Very nice collection my bastard bitch
>>56561971>That one is beautiful, I'd buy it if it wasn't so expensive. The Japanese version is significantly cheaper and has superior card stock to boot.
>>56562674Hmm, it's still 30 yurobucks... I'll think about it.70 for a PSA 10...
Got two ETBs today and here are the results. Silver Tempest kicked me in the balls and spat on my face and Paradox Rift put a band aid on it in an attempt to make it better. At least I didn't have any of these cards before.
>>56562772It's definitely the most expensive of the art rares, rest of them are 5 yurobucks or less last I checked.
>>56562172I'm talking about polling people's opinions of their most favorite pokemonThis has nothing to do with cards. This has to do with understanding what pokemon children and adults find cool.
>>56562837Yes but depending on how you take the poll it can be extremely easy to cheat and cast multiple votes. Pokemon fans are insane enough to rig polls.
>>56562774I love seeing you guys pull ho-ohs
>>56563488it's only been a day? it has to come down right?
So my card surfaces are clean, the corners don't have whitening, and an AI measuring tool says they're all within PSA's centering standards. I ran a microfiber cloth over the front and back of each and then put them into penny sleeves and then into card savers. Are my odds of getting 10s good?
>>56563488>listed>not sold
>>56560928Ironically the HGSS sets are too modern for my liking, has to be Platinum or earlier
I'm looking at the Vault X binders and what does the SV[number] mean?
>>56563611Why?
>>56563839Scarlet and Violet tie ins, The color schemes match up with the corresponding main sets.
>>56563261lol, okayNo need to think there's some poke cabal trying to promote Sawk as being a truly popular pokemon for reasonsYou won't be surprised by many of the results in any of the surveys. You can likely guess many of the pokemon in the top 10 for each region.

>>56569046Here. I pulled this a few days ago from my second Arcana box.
>>56569046Not really a pull but got this too recently
>>56561782Anon as a fellow Euro I should just say - keep in mind that prices in Yurope and the Anglo countries are different for English cards. Europe gets way less supply and the hobby in general is a lot more expensive: store prices for sealed product especially are always very high here compared to America, and there are few to no deals (unless you're in Germany I guess). Cross-reference your stuff on Cardmarket for Euro prices, especially if you're selling or holding, because your cards might be worth more than you think. I'm in Holland and prices here are pretty insane, but that also means that the reseller value is good. No one cares about Japanese though.
>>56561782>Do you have any personal favourites regarding new cards that will appreciate in the near future? Do you guys speculate on new singles at all or do you just buy what you like?I speculate a little, but only on items/cards that I already like for my own collection. The best investment is buying booster boxes, but that shit is expensive and takes up space. I usually just buy two of a card that I personally like, and also think might have potential because the art is good. I think the Shrouded Fable Persian will be popular in the future, it's really wonderful.
>>56570046>store prices for sealed product especially are always very high here compared to Americathat's not tr->unless you're in Germany I guessoh I wasn't aware that we're special in that regard.I can confirm that English sealed products are cheaper here than German. On the re-sell market in Germany, English and German singles are pretty similar to each other (ungraded. I'm new to collecting and don't really know anything about graded cards yet.)It's also true that barely anyone cares about Japanese here. English and German are close to each other in relevance and far ahead of Japanese.
>>56563697>No picturesAm I PSA? I don't fucking know anon
>>56570430Bruder, don’t you remember how only the retards in elementary school had English cards, often hideously fake? To this day English cards look ugly and fake to me. Erinnere dich, wer du bist. It’s German or Japanese unless you’re an investor fag.
>>56571135I prefer German too but English cards are definitely popular nowadays.
>>56570046>Europe gets way less supply and the hobby in general is a lot more expensiveSo the opposite of Magic kek.>No one cares about Japanese though. How come? The print quality is better and it's the original language.>I'm in HollandThought you guys said the Netherlands.>>56570116>The best investment is buying booster boxesWith all the scams and fake products in the Pokemon community I would never invest in sealed, I personally don't think it's worth it. Just by looking at Cardmarket in the last few days I can tell everyone is an opportunistic bitch that would scam their own mother, I thought it was bad with Magic but Pokemon is something else.People that "mistake" having a playset of a card so that it ends up at the top of the listings because it splits the cost in four lol. Also I've never seen such delusional self reported gradings.>small crease but NM>can easily grade PSA 10>shit centering>NM with picture>dirt on the surfacelmao
I like the look of these Premium Tournament Collections. Are they all worth about the same?
>>56569046Funny thing about that Ho-Oh is that I tried to buy it as a single earlier this year but the seller said he can't find it so he refunded me for it and sent out the rest of the order, I still wanted to get a copy of it but haven't got around to it yet, but guess I don't need to worry about it now since I pulled it myself. On an unrelated but still amusing note about that ETB opening is that one of the packs for Paradox Rift had two different Doublade reverse holos, that was pretty cool.
>>56560866The threadly mogging.
>>56572381>How come? The print quality is better and it's the original language.I have no idea. I collect Japanese but I was at a big con last month and literally no one was selling modern Japanese cards. We are very Anglo-cucked here. >>56572381>Thought you guys said the Netherlands.Eh, I was half awake and got lazy. >>56570430>oh I wasn't aware that we're special in that regard.I see a small difference between here and Germany. Although maybe France is cheaper too, I don't know. Maybe I should have said "if you're in a small European country" it's more expensive. 151 in particular was truly awful (pay 80+ for a booster bundle from resellers, and it was fully sold it in stores in like two months), but other modern set items are staying pricey too. I see those bulk discounts Americans get at Target and such and I despair.

I drove down to florida to help some family recover from the hurricane. Came across some cuban family who were selling sealed pokemon card products. I think they mightve stolen it or something because i got 5 evolving sky etbs for 100 bucks. I opened one on the spot too to make sure they were real and they were. Another investor bro picked up a charizard UPC from them for like 50 bucks. Anyway, im glad i was able to help this family financially recover from the disaster. Us investorbros really do good for the world together.

>>56594872It's based in Australia so it corners their market and the region because a lot of stuff like Pokémon is distributed to us along with or through them.
i haven't checked in here in a while. I can't believe you retards are buying cards of pokemon with fucking chandeliers on their heads disgusting grey borders lol. Trading cards were always about their aesthetic qualities.
>no TCG leaks in the teraleakI guess there was some holon artworks that got leaked that are really cool. It did prove that there are full sketches of the illustrations SOMEWHERE. The illustrators draw beyond the image box on the cards and they just crop the image to fit the box. But we've never seen the full images anywhere before.
>>56598120Shining Legends was very underrated
>>56602962shame half the cards were promos
>>56601437>carbon fibre hull
>>56605605>last thing the Titan's passengers saw was a Mantyke
>>56573423For modern cards I only collect Japanese textures but English will almost always hold better value. Waifucards are one of the few exceptions. It usually works out since you get better quality and lower price buying Japanese textures. The English fingerprint texture is downright abhorrent. For vintage I think English has better quality outside of the fucked up aspect ratio.
>>56607592>For modern cards I only collect Japanese textures but English will almost always hold better value.I regularly see people crap on Japanese for being cheaper and not being as resaleable, but the vast majority of people are buying cards purely for collecting purposes with no intention to resell. So, like you say, this is the best of both worlds for those like me (you would have to pry my cards out of my cold dead hands) - the cards are cheaper and higher quality.
>>56602709There were a bunch of DPPt era art leaks too like Cyru's conspiracy and Bebe's search and Mom's Kindness and that one Rotom from Rising Rivals and that one Charon card, and that one Cynthia card.
151 is crazy popular, its the only set free of the stupid glass hats gimmick. It doesn't have any weirdo fakemon from newer gens. Basically every pokemon in that set has its own fan base by virtue of seniority. If you're not collecting 151, you're sleeping.I see a lot of you holding out for the rocket set. There's a chance it's good, but also it could be filled with the most terrible mons.
Been doing a buttload of collecting lately, but it's left me with a swathe of commons and I'm starting to run out of space for them all. What do you guys do with the commons you have no need for anymore? Give them out on holidays? Give them to younger family? Hock them on eBay?
>>56608901When I bought up 151 products for my master set, I selected the best condition cards (ones without whitening and okay centering) for my own collection. The abundance of duplicates I tried putting together as a complete standard set minus the EX's. Generally I open packs now at stores, if I don't hit the cards I want I give them to some random kid in the store. They get pretty stoked about it.
To my 151 collectors out there, just a PSA on this product. It contains Non-Holo variants of Ditto from 151.
>>56609055& The Iron Leaves Battle Deck has a 151 Non-Holo Vileplume variant.

>>56609031>Talking to random kidsHello, police?
>>56610486Lol, no, there parents are with them, LGS is very community like and all the adults just give there bulk to the kids. Do you give out trick or trade packs on Halloween!? Hello police. Same shit.
>>56610268threads not related to leaks are having difficulty staying on the board right now. there's just too much going on.
