I just remembered e6's software also has domain based tag filtering that they use for e926 (rating:s). What that means is that we could set up monyume to specifically be f human m monster and later make another instance that allows more content.

So essentially, monyume and its community will always be priority 1 and will be what I finish off and release imminently. But in the future it's possible to expand out to more communities, under the strict condition that while they can inherit (or possibly exclude) monyume's posts, they never affect monyume's space. I think that's the best direction, especially because it preserves the identity established by these threads

The two big ones I like are interesting or exotic anatomy considerations, and the, to me, fucking sublime line of utterly powerless, yet completely safe. Total surrender, yet absolute trust.

The first one is easier to explain, I just like thinking about the weird kinds of accommodations, considerations, and opportunities weird anatomy presents. Using those things is just interesting to me, and I like thinking about how they factor in to the pokemon's intimacy.

The second is a bit trickier. They're not my favorite, but, using Gyarados is good for an example here.
The idea of being wrapped up by Gyarados, a bit under the water is fucking peak. There is no way I can fight or overpower this thing. If I escape I'm only going to drown. But, it's fine. I'm here with a creature I love and trust. I don't want to fight it, it's going to protect me, and while I'd surely drown and die here on my own, it's going to keep making sure I can breathe. It could so easily crush me, or rip me apart, both of these things are actually easier than one of them not happening, but it's being so gentle, and sweet, and is making sure I'm okay. Even the cuter ones I like still can have these feelings. It would be even better if we were significantly lower down in the water, but Gyarados was a pokemon that could produce breathable air, so I'm only even alive at all down here because of its care and deliberate effort.
And thinking about scenarios like that is just so hot. I'm just one accident away from death, or at least terrible injury, but I trust him.

ok i feel like we need a discussion on what we tag feral and what anthro casue e6 is all over the place with this. is an on model pokemon like garchomp feral? to some yeah but to others its anthro just cause it stands up. like seriously this needs to be sorted lel.

Is necessary, and probably more important

Feral should include all on-model pokemon, and pokemon with minor adjustments to whatever their on-model is (Gardevoir with tits, for example, maybe as far as Lucario taking his "pants" off).
The Anthro tag can include on model pokemon that happen to be anthros, but those are still tagged as Feral.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a Feral tag, but something to clearly tag pokemon that are either on model or "close enough" should exist.

A lot of tags on e6 are practically worthless. Seems silly for us to tag the eye color of every character, or the color of the sky. There's one autistic guy on e6 who relentlessly tags all sorts of frivolous details about text boxes and formatting that nobody is ever going to search with. I feel like minimizing tags to only useful things is good.

the 4gb requirement that e6 lists on their repository is the bare-minimum requirement to run opensearch at all, but for production you usually give it at least 8gb and its own separate instance even for small datasets. unless you know the issue is something else and you're on a 4~6gb rig, it's likely memory contention that's causing the crashes and opensearch logs are your prime suspect.

Yeah I need more time to see what the root issue of the crashes are. The script I wrote checks to see if the site is online every 3 minutes and restarts the booru if not, so if you get the "Something broke" page, wait a couple minutes and refresh. yeah, i was trying out e6 for a bit locally and noticed a lot of the issues are really with the package itself. honestly, at this stage i'd just drop e6 and move to stock danbooru, it's near identical feature-wise save for the fuzzy text search and should get you a non-buggy package for a fraction of the cost. e6ng is really just a huge pile of hacks on top of danbooru, which you pay for with the stability issues and random endpoint errors you're getting. running a booru really shouldn't have you this bad of a time, it's the package that's unstable and overtuned (e6 proper probably runs migrations differently).

this runs on 1gb ram with about 50% idle utilization and about 70% when i really push it, but if you don't like to cowboy it and facetank hiccups with swap 2gb should have you more than comfortable. it's not szuru-level potato friendly (might be if you disable some features desu), but it's at least a functional package out of the box.

The only problem with this is I'll need to write a migration script to preserve the current database. Uptime has been good over the last 24 hours with 1 crash that triggered an automatic Docker down / up cycle. I'd say it's good enough for now and gives me time to plan ahead, which could mean moving to Danbooru.
Also is opensearch mostly in use because the database stores all tags in a single TEXT column rather than their own table with individual rows? yeah, I don't think there's any rush to go either way, danbooru is very close to e6 in terms of schema so you always have it in terms of a backup if your current instance goes out of hand. from the looks of it the crashes aren't completely random but seem to happen when 2 or 3 people use it simultaneously (crash earlier happened when 3 people were using it and uploading/editing stuff), so it might be suitable to run a test instance and stress it a little. if you let me know your specs i can try to get a comparable instance and do that.

migrating to danbooru is probably considerably easier than rewriting away opensearch cause the schema is like 80% the same and for searches you'd need to get back the entire original search script from danbooru, but probably not rocket science to do that either because it's just tag matching and we're small enough to do the dumbest version of it (which i'd assume danbooru does, considering the limitations they run on it). if you've managed to curb endpoint errors (didn't seem to hit any yesterday) and
we can verify that the crash is because of opensearch ooms, i think it's an okay option as well.

depending on the results of the stress test (where I'll attempt to just drop the service completely and compare) I can look into assisting with either migrating or dropping opensearch.

they help me feel better as well because by thinking of them or playing games with them helps me destress a little from all the irl shit i gotta do lol.

like, there are a lot of monster traits that are really hard to find in general because we never tag for them. things like "this creature is an animated object" or "this creature is one of those with really long shade-like arms" or "this creature is one of those things that look like a tumor".

tagging for all those things manually even on a terato booru would be a lot of work and things to be aware of to even accurately tag for them. species implications can do some of this (like, growlithe is definitely a canine no matter the angle) but for some traits it would be really useful to have something that was weaker than an implication and more like a "suggestion" for traits that are not always visible on an otherwise species-compliant image (shade arms for runerigus, for example). it's something the species definitely has in its full canon form and that you should be encouraged to check for if you have that tag.

what i have learned. dont use words like pokephilia but rather humanxpokemon and stuff. keep scrolling until you see something. open any affectionate drawing of a girl with her pokemon in a new tab and look at the related pictures. especially the more like this section. that is your best bet of finding new content. i actually saved quite a bit of nice art today that i will upload to the booru. especially the bird lover in me is quite pleased.

this, pokephilia is mostly a booru porn tag ime. for da and tumblr i've found google images with site search to be really good for initial pictures because i'm pretty sure they run an ai tagger on virtually the entire web. compared to das own search it actually identifies things like hugs even when there's no keyword or mention of it in the page, though for "hand on face" i think deep scouring popular shipmons is the only way.

also, you can apply the same method to booru images as well, follow the source fields and you'll sometimes find more on the artist page. on boorus, some good starts are

For me, at least, I see Serperior as the only snake that isn't really scary in some way (Arbok and Serperior have fangs and poison, for example, Gyarados is pretty scary, Onix is made out of rocks, pretty uncomfy, Rayquaza is... nice, I would say, but also hands so not a snake, also really big), that's actually long enough to do snake stuff (Sorry Dunsparce), that isn't also extremely feminine coded, which basically just means Milotic is probably only if you're gay/bi (she is really pretty though). Dragonair is the only other one I can think of... and there's also quite a bit of Dragonair. Both Serperior and Dragonair are kinda in the right size ballpark, too.
Makes sense to me at least. I wouldn't say Serperior is one of my favorite pokemon, but if I wanted to do some snake stuff, and I do, I would just kinda default to Serperior or Dragonair.

I can imagine sometimes transporting our house into the distortion world while she's asleep for fun, or having something hover just out of reach. I'd be nearby to ensure she didn't get hurt. But generally I'd try to use my powers to make the home respond to her mood, especially when we had guests over. If she were angry, I would have knives floating menacingly just behind her, for instance. I wouldn't ever let her see these things though, only the guests.

Sorry for the late response. I appreciate the advice you're offering.

The VPS has access to 2 cores of a AMD Epyc Naples processor. Its memory is 4GB but I forgot many Linux distributions don't create a swapfile when newly installed. While the health script is working without significant downtime I'm hoping this will reduce its dependence now that opensearch has more memory to spill over into if it is the case that it's the problem. Otherwise we have limited disk space and bandwidth but ti's comfortable for now and a while going forward.

Things are looking pretty good from this week! I might mess with the code and config a little more to solve a couple hacks I needed to get it stable. Thanks again for your contributions!
