For the Gyarados spam I'm using Charizard, I build him up but keep him on the back bench. After getting 4 energy on Charizard, I use Moltres EX to attack his active pokemon. This gives him the choice of use Gyarados to kill my Moltres and the turn after I will kill his Gyarados with my Charizard, or he can protect his Gyarados while I use my Moltres to kill his active pokemon.
Celebifag here. Haven't seen many Gyarados decks in the event, and the ones that did folded pretty easily.

When Kabutops comes online, he doesn't just instantly win. He gets ohko'd by bigger threats. He stalemates with Mew EX. He only really wins vs Pika off the top of my head. Omastar on the other hand also does not instantly win games when it comes down, but it requires your opponent to then retreat their active Pokemon (losing energy) and he also must have a 2nd Pokemon waiting in the back that has energy on it and can kill Omastar.
Is evolving pikachu ex into raichu to avoid giving the enemy 2 points possible? I literally havent been able to get a raichu so i cant test it for myself.

Tbh, I don't think this Aero list or my Mew list is the correct list. I still think Exeggutor is a top tier card that doesn't really have the correct home still. I thought it would be Aero EX or Mew EX but I don't really think it is. It works, but any deck can work. It doesn't have the feel of a meta "brew" deck the same way Gyarados does. I've seen Eggs in Celebi decks, but at that point it's a Celebi/Serperior deck, not an Eggs deck.

Ive been playing my old venu deck with leaf and new eggs and honestly? Its not horrible. Im actually winning atleast half if the time.
Man with this much Gyrados around, it's tough to play Mewtwo. M2 got infinitely more powerful objectively but Gyrados really hoses the strat. The best I can come up with is you play a Jinx as just a basic that can chunk Garry after guard kills druddigon and then just hopefully kill the tahit with big Mewtwo. Pika is great. Raichu is better than zebra I think.
I play a shit load of Gyrados too. Those are the top tier decks imo. Zard is a good counter for this metagame I think. Not sure best build of Zard rn tho.

Same as a Gyarados+Drudd vs a Pidgeot+Drudd or even a Golem+Drudd deck. They all follow the same strategy but are considered different decks.And Pikachu is the main reason to play a lightning deck while the others are there to support him.
