Was it an immersive sim

Felt it when it came out.
Not a perfect game but mind blowing at release.
>>
the menus were fully immersive from the gameplay and the menus were realistic and complex enough for the game to be a menu simulator
>>
Ever since mgs2 you could do pull ups to increase your stamina bar. Why?

More rooted on Japanese arcade game design over PC game design even if it takes some influence from those, so no.
>>

Metal Gear is all about feature creep and gimmick mechanics that don't matter. You're supposed to feel blown away by Kojima's creatividad and praise the "attention to detail" of the developers when you read about things like that online, but it is completely irrelevant to the actual game which is incredibly simplistic and boring.

I was playing Pokemon, Zelda and FFVII when I was 10, and each are better games.

CT annoys me because it seems to like pretending it's more open ended than it actually is, but it's a very much on rails game that's fairly simple all things considered. It's not a game with real meat and depth to it.

Then perhaps you could explain why you chose to humiliate yourself by ranting about $10 and physical media?

Why do people consider this one of the all time classic SEGA games? It's literally 20+ levels of just walking around and picking things up, and all the levels look the same.

Sonic 1 isn’t like that at all past the first zone. It’s actually pretty slow and constantly stops you and it’s a common complaint.

The game is boring if you play it alone, but if you play it with friend, oh boy it's a blass, unironicaly top 5 multiplayer of the generation
>>
did OP just out himself as not having any friends to sit on the couch and play ToeJam & Earl with him?

Around stage 12-13 it starts becoming over-the-top retardedly difficult with unavoidable ambulances, tornadoes, monster mail boxes and boomer lawnmowers and 90% of the land becomes quicksand. The only way to win is spamming teleport randomizers so you get in a lucky spot near the elevator's door. Around stage 17 you get bees on the starting stage point location that don't go away, good luck with that.

I'm playing Silent Hill 2 OG For the firs the first time on Hard. It's Enhanced Edition. Any tips for me to survive the horrors of Silent Hill and not wandering around like an autist getting killed by monsters all the time?

Should have gone normal combat and hard riddles because the combat isn't remotely fun or hard regardless of settings but it's whatever. Just enjoy the game and take it slow to soak in the atmosphere.
>>
>>12010169
>Enhanced Edition
Delete and play the original
>>
>>12010169
just play the shit on normal difficulty if it is your first time playing. unless you meant first time playing hard after beating it. and play the regular game. stop fucking with this game, it was fine on ps2 and the greatest hits / xbox restless dreams version isn’t even necessary. og game with gritty filter that is default on first playthrough.
>>
>>12010169
hard combat is the better experience for most of the game. the enemies on hard while not truly challenging are more conducive to a stressful, draining atmosphere of a horror game at a basic level. the issue is a few problem areas where the game's balancing falls off a cliff. a hospital chase section that is frankly legitimately broken, and then a late game boss that's absurdly spongey. if you need some amount of struggle to get into a horror game it's probably worth trudging through those sections but if not you should probably just put it on normal and be done with it.

>>

Yes. Its a minigame in Mario Party 1. Slot Car Derby is not too bad OP, you quickly pick up on what you have to win it consistently. As for Canary Mary, nothing you can do will save you from the retarded button mashing required to beat her in the second race.

Was it actually rushed or did the gimmick just limit the level design? What was the real reason for the bland, empty levels?

>>12005806
Uhh yes and no, you pick teams and it’s like a mix of chaotix and superstar saga mechanics. The bungee chord aspect is just in one part iirc, but the idea of being tied to a partner and using special abilities to traverse the levels is directly inspired by chaotix.

The hold-and-launch tether idea was interesting but honestly not something that would have really been needed in lieu of a Spin Dash.

I think they wanted to make something that would involve Tails more than his role in the previous two games where he would just be tagging along but the player had nothing to do with him.

Thing is if they just designed a game around what Christian Whitehead did with the Tails lift mechanic that would have solved it (which is what Noah Copeland ended up doing for Sonic Triple Trouble 16-bit). The ring tether was just a slapdash idea that probably wasn't something they should have pursued since the ideas they wanted to implement with it could have been done in a more sensible way.

Is it worth playing this over PS1? The new areas seem kinda half-assed.
>>
>>12009064
It has bonus content but literally everything else about it is worse than the PS1 version:
>slowdown and lag to the point inputs sometimes get dropped
>fucked up aspect ratio
>more and longer loadings
>worse sound quality
>no real transparency

There's a romhack that fixes it a bit but the PS1 version is still better
I'd only play the Saturn version if I was a huge SotN fan who really wants to see the new content. The Saturn version shouldn't be your first playthrough

it’s a 10/10 and one of the best in the series, equal to 2. it has the longest, most satisfying story of any of the classic tank re games, and the best music in the series.

You get a vast, interconnected map that surpasses the playstation games in design intricacy.

The puzzles are more challenging, you actually have to use your brain a bit. It feels more like you solved something instead of running errands for items and only pushing boxes.

Atmosphere and soundtrack are top class RE. The world is bigger and the game is twice as long as playstation RE.

>>
>>12010402
nowhere does the statement say good music = good game. you can’t discern that there’s a question to test whether you even know that. you also took the other anon’s statement about the quakity if the puzzles and mischaracterized that as well. these are very lame sperg argument tactics. for all i know you never played a single re game

Previous thread: >>11948358
Rules of the thread are simple:
>You can only talk about games and systems made before the US release of the NES (1985). Everything before it from the CRT Amusement Device to stuff like Marble Madness and Kung Fu Master is cool here. Later and homebrew ports for Pre-NES games on Pre-NES systems are allowed (e.g. Jr. Pac-Man was released in arcades in 1983 but the 2600 port came out in 1986)
>That's it.
What's your favorite Pre-NES arcade game from a pinball company? Berzerk is my answer, but Bubbles is definitely underrated.

Unfortunately no, as most text-heavy FM-7 games were ported to or from other, more popular platforms, and those versions were given greater priority by translators.
>>
>>12008194
The only RPG I've even played on it is Xanadu, but of the RPGs I have played on JPCs I don't think any have translations to begin with, let alone for the FM-7. It's secondary/tertiary machine in a niche section of the hobby.

Best you can do is use it as an excuse to learn Japanese or sell it at an upmark locally and get an MSX2.
