I'm not having fun.
>>12012004>They do the same with the 2nd Kid IcarusThat actually got released on Virtual Console in Japan to coincide with KI Uprising.
>>12012008Yeah and they still fucking ignore its existence in Smash or anything gameboy anniversary related. I dont get the 'tism.

I'm playing Silent Hill 2 OG For the firs the first time on Hard. It's Enhanced Edition. Any tips for me to survive the horrors of Silent Hill and not wandering around like an autist getting killed by monsters all the time?
I actually was just playing the Saigo No Uta version yesterday. Can't get over how genius the opening couple of minutes are. >starts you out in a serene, calm location with comforting music and a bit of fog>Slowly, as you proceed farther the fog becomes denser and the music more ambient>the ambient music becomes more ominous as you hear unsettling noises off somewhere to the left, right, and potentially right in front of you letting your mind make up any kind of horror it wants adding to the genuine spooky factor>finally get a bit of a reprieve when you hit the graveyard of all places>get a cutscene with two characters awkwardly feeling eachother out for a moment before both realize they are desperate to find a similar thing >proceed even further into the unknown after that hearing even more unsettling noises but never seeing a hint of anything>so foggy you can't really get your bearings until a dirt road just dumps you right into the iconic town itself showing you just how lost you really are>finally you find something>a trail of blood>game doesn't hold your hand and you are just naturally drawn to following the trail>find it leading to some blocked off tunnelComment too long. >>12012437Nah, the opening is so boring it turned off most gamers.
>>12013018This is why you don't deserve to enjoy anything worthwhile.

Honestly, I've given so many NES games a chance but almost all of them are either boring, unreasonably difficult or cryptic as fuck.Even 1st party titles are pretty bad. Zelda 1 for example is literally bootleg-tier.i'm not hating on the NES for its technical limitations because the gameboy has an infinitely more interesting library despite being more primitive. at least it has exciting stuff for it going on like pokemon.
>>12013269I didn't grow up with an NES and I love it. POW, Flying Shark, Jackal, Gunnac, Zanac, Arkista's Ring are all fun. There are more too but I have alzheimers and can't remember them off the top of my head. It's a great console if you don't mind ugly graphics and skill-based gameplay.
>>12013491Oh, and Contra of course. Contra's timeless and OP is retarded.
Admins and mods should just nuke this board at this point since they turned it into /v/ 2.0
>>12013498This board is better than it's ever been and you're just mad people are allowed to shittalk Nintendo without getting banned now.
>>12013274So like if you played Tetris & Dr. Mario for SNES you'd have fun but if you played Tetris or Dr. Mario for NES the tumor in your brain would pulse and you'd just pass out or something? You're making it sound sadder and sadder. Good luck on getting better as you age
Is it actually a good game or just a meme? I remember when I played it years ago some of the puzzles were very obtuse.
>>12013372He had a mouth and he had to scream
>>12013372That's what makes him the perfect AM
>>12013372Anybody remember his encounter with the Penny Arcade guys? Hilarious.
>>12009513IHNMAIMS is easily one of Ellison's weakest works and the game is a far better rendition of the narrative.Ellison agrees on this. No Mouth was something he literally wrote in a night.
>>12013372>One of the most intriguing story topics is Harlan Ellison, a tru-fan turned professional writer, and very successfully, too. Harlan, who is infamous among fandom and mundane world alike, can be seen once or twice a year on the Tomorrow show, being interviewed by a cowering Tom Snyder. Snyder can usually be seen after one of Harlan's visits counting up the number of lawsuits Harlan has provoked and praying that the network won't fire him because of the way Harlan tore apart television this time. Harlan Ellison, once called the "Godzilla of Munchkinland" by his fellow science fiction writer David Gerrold, can be likened in many respects to the fannish lore counterpart of Trickster, a basic character in Amerind folklore. There are obviously many differences, but the resemblance runs deep. Unfortunately, Harlan, though a mythical character, does exist.
What is the oldest game you can play 1+ hours straight without interruption? While enjoying it of course.
>>12006054mario paint
Diablo 2
Pac-man
>>12006054Space Invaders probably
>>12006054While enjoying them, Mappy (1983) or Mario Bros. (1983), though idk if it'd be "without interupption". I'm pretty good at those games but I don't know if I can go an hour on a single credit.
This game captivated me as a kid, and even as an adult, it’s such a fascinating experiment. The closest thing to it I can really think of is Dwarf Fortress. Are there any other retro games really like SimEarth? (Spore doesn’t count, even if it was /vr/)Anyone else enjoyed SimEarth as well? I’d love to hear some stories.
>>12009916Will Wright confirmed the first Macfag???
>>12010031It kind of suited the "educational toy" games he was interested in making. Apple seemed to be the computer of choice in schools, I remember seeing Apple IIs gradually replaced by iMac G3s over the years. It was not uncommon to see Maxis games installed on school computers along with other staples like Oregon Trail or Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego.
>>12005262I rented this once on SNES as a kid. Zero fucking clue what to do and I was stuck with it all weekend. I never figured it out so I just used the Unlimited mode or whatever it was called to make a cool RPG-style map out of the different biomes.
>>12005490This one seems difficult to get working properly on modern hardware. Might need a VM

>boomers love him>millenials love him>zoomers love himWhat is it about Bubsy that makes him such a timeless character beloved by all?
>>12012426Forced post.
>>12012606Surprisingly high effort and mildly charming for a Bubsy comic.
>>12012606Throw in the comic for Bubsy 2 next.
>>12012456Yeah vast majority of boomers don't care about Bubsy except maybe watching their millennial kids play the game. Zoomers love him more ironically, as they didn't grow up playing and somewhat enjoying the first game.
>>12013135This, it's not even like Gex where a good fraction of his games are unironically enjoyed and you hear a quote and say "Haha, I remember Nick @ Nite being good!"

I've never been a fan of the missions, the game was already brutal and at the time I got rekt into oblivion.
>>12006252Even Miku wanted to be there
Any other anons enjoy the PS game brave fencer musashi? Kino. Very early PS polygon graffics, a Zelda esque feel of action adventure mixed with platforming.
>>12012467Like zelda but not shit like zelda and unlike zelda it doesn't turn its gamers into trannys
>>12012628I like a link to the past and I’ve been banned multiple times for transphobia by the old janny (yes, yes I’m very based, I know)
>>12012578I agree. I played it for the first time ever about 10 years ago and was absolutely blown away bit it. I think if I had played it as a kid it would've easily been one of my favorite games of all time. The town felt really lively and the day/night cycle helped make it feel even more atmospheric. I was very disappointed by Threads of Fate by comparison, but it's hard to say exactly why. I think the lack of voice acting may have made the game feel a lot more hollow to me than it would have otherwise. Not to mention the gameplay was as barebones as it gets-- the game was clearly designed for children right down to the combat and platforming.

Really liked the second one and played it for a while, will definitely play again some day to 1cc with more characters or idk do bigger numbers. Certainly not the second loop.

>>12010035true as fuck
>>12011225The nepotism with Sakurai continues to be a huge problem. I’ll give Iwata credit for being a former dev who was always game-oriented, and for his attempt to emulate the spirit of Yokoi, he just wasn’t very good at it. He had no concept of quality control and even less appreciation for third parties than his predecessor. His best quality was his understanding that games are the most fun when there is a social element.
The quality of Nintendo games is pretty consistent across all of their platforms.
