was it the real Sonic Adventure 3?
>>12060916>still suffers from control issuesIt barely controls better than SA1 Shadow 05 shits on both controls-wise
>>12061748>Shadow 05 shits on both controls-wiseThat game feels like total dogshit to play, even Heroes played better.
>>12061772the controls are good, the reason the game feels like shit is the level design and clunky melee weapon
>>12059945Heroes was an attempt at doing something that wasn't Adventure. 06 was the backpedal.
>>12061801Which is why Heroes feels considerably better to play overall, plus having Fly formation available.

My wife and I have played these games together:> Don't Starve Together> Diablo 3 (Switch couch co-op)> Ship of Fools> Rotwood> MtG: Arena> Mario 3D World> Vampire Survivors> Death Road to Canada> Make Way> Party Animals> Pummel Party (pc mario party)> Board Game Simulator

Was it really considered better than stuff like Metal Slug & Doom?
The boss fights are definitely better than Metal Slug and Doom. Makes sense as they're Treasure's specialty. Each boss in the boss rush at the end is so much more mobile with multiple things they can do. Metal Slug bosses are always a borderline stationary object you spam bombs at.
Fuck the dice palaceGreat game tough the best Treasure on Megadrive
Gunstar mostly suffers from a lack of focus, you can tell it was designed like a hodgepodge of whatever random ideas the developers could think of. There are some great ideas there, but not a lot of them are done justice. In particular, I thought the lightsaber weapon was really interesting and I wish the game would've been designed more around it. I also feel like the weapon combos generally detract from the game more than they add, since most of them aren't very interesting, nor well-balanced. The RNG weapon drops compound the problem even more, since some weapons are really good while others are really bad, and whichever one you get depends on random chance. It's a decent game but not one of Treasure's best by a long shot. Alien Soldier and Dynamite Headdy are both better.
Great game, not as good as Metal Slug or Doom. The GBA sequel is pretty great too. Both worthy of playing through as they are pretty quick to defeat.
I'll be honest, I've never heard those three games compared. Doom was first person, Gunstar and Metal Slug were side scrollers. And Metal Slug was something you'd play at a pizza hut, you kinda just enjoyed the animations and backgrounds until your parents stopped giving you quarters. Gunstar was on a console so you could keep putting in the hours to master it.All very different experiences, they weren't just gun games.
An underrated classic. One of the rare games I can find from that time where the game starts on console and then is ported to PC. A shame we never got a sequel.
I remember loving the first few levels but lost interest. will be giving it another shot because its got great vibes.
>>12061754The atmosphere is great. But all guns are shite.... The shooting isn't very fun, because every weapon is giga inaccurate.
It's quiet
>>12061781Which doesn't even remotely make sense for Tau weapons because the whole point of them in lore and tabletop crunch is they're hyper-accurate death lasers to make up for the fact that the dudes are dead meat if the enemy gets in melee range.
Some time ago I released a Windows 95 pack with lots of games pre-installed. Well, I decided to redo this pack from scratch, this time using Windows 98 and a better hardware configuration that supports faster and higher-end processors and GPUs if your PC can handle them. You can download it here:https://gofile.io/d/1tuxMBThe hardware config is as follows:>CPU: 100 MHz Pentium OR K6-2*>Mobo: Super Socket 7 VIA FIC VA-503+>RAM: 128 MB>GPU: 16 MB Voodoo Banshee>Sound: Sound Blaster AWE32>HDD: 16 GB*Pentium is chosen for PCem, whereas the K6-2 is the default for 86Box. They've been chosen for host machine performance reasons above allFor the OS, I installed Windows 98lite through the Windows 98 QuickInstall project, which installs a heavily trimmed-down version of Windows 98 SE with all official updates and DirectX 8.1, but using the Windows 95 shell and no IE or other extraneous stuff you're probably not going to use. It is as lean and fast as it gets, while still having almost everything people enjoy about old Windows. So, what's in the pack? Well, every game and application you see in the picture, for starters. I've done my best to make sure everything works as it should, and I've even gone through the trouble of modifying .ini files and registry entries so that they all work without a CD, but should you encounter any issues, please let me know.Comment too long. This is amazing, thank you anon. I miss this kind of games a lot.
>>12051419Anon, is there a way to get the wallpaper out of the virtual machine? I'd really like to use it on my PC
>>12061498You mean the wallpaper I set as the default? That's just one of the wallpapers included with Windows 2000. You can find it here:https://windowswallpaper.miraheze.org/wiki/Windows_2000That said, if you want to get any files from the machine, you can mount the hard drive image in regular Windows. To do this, navigate to PCem\configs\Windows 98 Pack, and double-click win98.vhd. That will mount the image and open it in Explorer. However, if you do this, be sure to eject it before opening 86Box/PCem again, as otherwise they won't be able to access it.
>>12060892>>12060942lol there's some CD-based games in there. What limits me from adding more is the fact that a lot of notable titles released around this time use Redbook audio, which means I'd have to distribute the game image along with the pack, and that would cause the file size to absolutely balloon. Admittedly by 1998/1999 that was less of an issue, but by that point many games expect a more powerful CPU than what most people running this pack will likely be able to handle (not all, of course - something like Starcraft may still work OK). Then there's CD requirements to take into account. I did manage to get some games to work without the CD, but it's not always the easiest thing to do and even PC Gaming Wiki doesn't always have good solutions for it, and others will straight-up require cracks.tl;dr I'd love to have more mid-to-late-90's games on the pack but CD requirements make it hard.
>>12061607Awesome, thanks mate
30 years later, do you still act on instinct?
>>12057654I only played the Red Alert games.
>>12057827yes this was also me, i had the win95 versions first, then got the psx versions, its not the easiest to play with a controller, but i had 2 official psx mice, also a few years back i converted red alert/retaliation and played through it on psp which was pretty challenging, i swear it was harder than pc, also you cant save on psx you only get a password after finishing a mission, never played the n64 version but im pretty sure its based of the shit dos version, you can at least play the missions on the first decade which as i already mentioned is a nice addition.also ive got retaliation for the pc, which is a bootleg my grandparents got me from singapore back around 1999, pretty sure the disc pre-dates the psx version of retaliation, its basically a heavily modded version of aftermath with units from tiberian dawn and like 100 or so custom maps.
>>12057654The remaster NOD campaign is dogshit thanks to the GDI airstrike AI.>>12057827We didn't have a PC growing up, and after seeing the original version around a friends I wanted to play it so much. The PS1 version was much harder due to no saving and passwords existing for levels. Sometimes I used the Nuke cheat over and over to destroy the enemy so I could see the next cutscene and find out how the Tiberium War was going.
>>12061037Sick, the one I have, and the one that incorrectly credits everything is the later re-release of the soundtrack. TS in general always fucked with me because the OST is missing a bunch of songs from the game. But yeah, I wasn't aware the original soundtrack release actually had proper credits. As a side note this confirmed my suspicion that all the best TS tracks weren't Klepacki lol.
>>12057654No I just build like 40 dudes and throw it at the enemy base and see if that works.
Got a PSX and this is a hitlist of games I’ve either played as a kid or seen people talk about here and I wanna get. Any other suggestions?

Open exploration and day/night cycle are impressive for a nes game and it feels huge, the only problem is the obligatory money grind but otherwise it's superior to Castlevania 1.Only those brainwashed by the internet thinks it's anything below a 7/10
Is ir worth going outside at night at all? Feels more secure to stay in town even if you still fight ghouls.
>>12058171The total day/night cycles that elapse will affect the ending. So if you wait out the night you might get the bad ending. Simon dies.
>>12052072This game needed a gba style igavania remake
>>12052072the only problem is WHERE THE FUCK DO I GO WTF
>>12058171I'm pretty sure you get more hearts and thus experience from enemies you fight at night. So it might be more efficient to go after more valuable enemies just outside of the town than to stick with the ghouls.

This game is overrated as fuck, literally a on rails movie that people shit on FF13 for. And the plot isn't even compelling with a bland cast of characters and heaps of melodrama / cheesy romance reminiscent of Titanic. Most overrated game on the PS2 besides Silent Hill 2
>>12060918Actually after thinking about it more thoroughly, I'm raising 8 to the same status of having good writing
>>12055904this and kingdom sharts had the best menus of 6th gen
>>12055904Titanic is one of the greatest movies of all time.
>>12055904It`s proof that presentation can carry a mediocre game. It looks and sounds good, so nothing else mattersAt least the combat system is good, although it gets repetitive by the end
If you were to swap Teedus with Squall, the game would be 100% better.
Super Famicom has better anime licensed games than Saturn and PS1.What happened during the CD era? I can only think of GitS on PS1 being good. Jojo on Dreamcast if you want to include ports.
>>12061485To be honest, Gundam Endles Wing is one of the greatest non-arcade fighting games of any console. The Battle Assault games look nice but don't play nearly as good.
>>12061510Great now teh 300 dollerino gaem can battle with the n64 library of gems

At what age did you realise that RE3 > RE2?
13
The moment I first heard the ambient sounds of RE3's ruined city
3 has a better difficulty balance by default imo. the regular hard campaign available from the start is a pretty good challenge for my standards(you reasonably need to be on your game to avoid dying at certain points. re2 on normal is just a bit too soft and you have to jump through a bunch of hoops in order to play a version with decent difficulty.
>>12060691>likewise "modern" resident evil to me is RE4, RE5 & RE8.i unironically prefer RE6 to RE5,i really dislike RE5 for some reason.
>>12060627The only thing that 3 has over 2 is difficulty.
