Neo is packed with jul/tcrf groomers from what I've heard, and they ban people from other sites over making jokes. You should still be able to discuss it if you like. The owner of RHDN seems to prefer it exclusively (out of spite).

Neoromhacking's Romhacks section is just a mirror of RHDN. There's no new hacks uploaded to website.

Is there anyone here who's pretty good with SNES hacking? A friend and I have been working on a translation hack for an SNES game for a while now, but he just got a promotion at work and he's basically going to have to drop out of the project.

The game's completely translated, we already have tools for injecting the script, it's basically done, but there's a weird palette bug and a freeze we can't fix about 60% of the way through the game. I have literally no idea where to look for help with finishing this.

Here's the Japanese the above test is translating. Screen space will definitely be an issue, and wording will have to be chosen accordingly. I'm also thinking about relocating the Continue message at the bottom of the screen to free up more space.

Another interesting physics-based game is Little Sisyphus. You control a small guy with a giant boulder tied to him and you have to navigate though a maze while carrying that boulder and using it to smash obstacles. All of that is supported by a striking art style inspired by ancient Greek vases.

/vp/ tourist here since /wfg/ there is dead. I am looking to trade some gen 3 Pokemon online with someone else playing gen 3 but can hardly find a good emulator that does this other than local multiplayer. >>

Its using the Famicom's expansion audio with a custom mapper. Expansion audio works by having the consoles audio output loop-back through a cartridge pin, where-in the circuity inside the cartridge can modify the audio in any way possible. Back in the day, the FDS and cartridges that took advantage of the pin only added a few audio channels so as to not make hardware too expensive, but theoretically there's no limit to what you can do with it. There is a custom mapper which lets you stream CD quality audio through the Famicom using an SD card.

currently doing a Ken Griffey Jr Presents Major League Baseball short season with muh Atlanta Braves. playing with updated 2023 rosters and players/stats.

as far as i could tell, no one had made a "dh always on" game genie code, so first thing i did was that. now i have the greatest mlb lineup of all time:

>acuna jr
>albies
>riley
>olson
>ozuna from tha braves
>trav daddy darnaud
>eddie rosario
>arcia
>money mike harris

this lineup, combined with fried, strider, morton, kyle wright (i think i will just for fun update the pitching staff with chris sale and spencer schwallenbacher) and iglesias for the closer is absolutely RETARDED in this game.

i haven't scored less than 15 runs in a single game. i'm beating the games i am definitely "supposed" to lose, like max fried gave up 8 runs in the first inning against the pirates and i still won like 19-14.

acuna had 3 run, inside the park home run. strider just threw a CGSO against the Nationals (who are in the game, i didn't make the full mod, just modding the mod).

it's fucking awesome lol. here's acuna's stats thru three games.

i can share the "dh always on" code. it's two lines, one for p1 and one for p2. i haven't experimented, but i assume i could theoretically have one team play with the DH and the other team make the pitcher bat lol.

what's cool about the code is the game 100% recognizes it as an option that can no longer be changed, so it gives the cool "bdddbdddbdd" sound effect when you try to change it lol

Yo fellow /vp/fag here, this is the only thing I can come up with:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCmlRqm4PBw
The video is about specifically using retro handhelds, but the concept should be about the same. In theory you could try the same steps for remote Wi-Fi using Retroarch on your PC or whatever, using your saves and making sure you're both running the same versions of the game, and it should probably work? Maybe? I've never actually had someone to test this with, so I dunno. But it's all I've got.

These two should probably be merged, given the competition from RHDN clones. Integrating the old RHDN database would also be a good idea. Moroever, shifting some of the Discord discussions over to the forum should boost activity there.

The writing is less poetic than in Tom's script and the font is worse IMO.
Otogirisou is a pretty terrible game regardless though. Pic related is better.

More homebrew talk. Some good Dreamcast homebrew.

Another World HD just has a much better framerate than SNES.
Beats of Rage allows many characters.
Cave Story's port is pretty accurate.
Gunlord is tough but fun.
Never finished Stormwind, remember it was all right.

I discovered most of them here
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dreamcast_games#Unlicensed_games
https://vsrecommendedgames.fandom.com/wiki/Dreamcast/Homebrew

Bit surprised Wikipedia even has a section. Anyone know if Völgarr is worth a play?

don't know what that's about, but it's the biggest accepter of new hacks thus far
it could definitely do with some tweaks here and there

I'm all for having multiple sites honestly. Hell even Github repos. It's incredible NeoRHDN still isn't accepting submissions though.

Even better, spec's say it only works on the N8 Pro with extra patches just to make the header read. Got another flash cart? Oops, better shill Krikzz another $399.

It's gonna take a while yee matey, the whole thing is extremely limited platform wise atm. Mesen only. Again with extra instructions.

As far as I know the game logic is handled by the NES. The game struggles to handle 3 sprites on the same scanline and flickers hard when de-synced. The cartridge logic only handles streaming said logic. Music is sampled per note then played with DPCM.

What's the point of making an NES game if it only works in MESEN?
>>
>>11391594
From what I've gleamed it's mostly
>Look at how good we can get this to look with 100MB ROM size!
vs
>This 3D game runs on UNROM in 32KB.

Some developers want to work with original constraints, others want to bend them to their will.
It's what separates Micro Mages from Former Dawn. Both got 160k. Micro works with everything because it fit's into NES spec's. Former works with next to nothing because it breaks out of them.

Honestly it's somewhat a disease in NES development. Custom boards lead to drastic changes to cartridge functionality which leads to low compatibility. Rather than learn the MMC5 (an official board) the focus is set to how much further they can push the NES without thinking of the long term. Hell Super Tilt Bro's Rainbow expansion mapper's is planning to use wifi cross-play. Good luck getting that in ROM form.

WTF?
Use the SNES already then...
I feel like there is no point in doing so, even more if you can't reuse the mapper for other games.
I mean, the Wolfeinstein GB cartridge at least published the "mapper"'s files...

They say they want to use 32MB for the game and the N8 Pro only supports 16MB, so the N8 Pro shouldn't work either.

Why a new thread?
This one can still be bumped, no ?
>>
>>11393578
Still on page 9 because /vr/ threads have an expiration date. IIRC it's because one autist spammed threads full, then deleted his posts to keep them alive forever under bump limit

Ended up finding someone through an even less likely method, but thanks.
