No handholding???! Cheeez man....
Vita TV or PSP with component cables ? I found oem component cables for cheap. But handhelds have battery problems and I don't know if I want to pay a lot for new batteries
Something interesting under $100...I already have a rg35xxsp and have had a miyoo mini+ but sold it.Also, those psp 3000 look cool but I don't know if they are worth it.
I could buy a RP5 but im satisfied with all the chinkhelds I own so maybe I'll wait for RP6.
What body color is best for glass OLED devices like the Odin Portal and RP5?Black hides the black bars, but shows fingerprints and reflections really easily.Colors are fingerprint-resistant and have more character, but also have black bars.
>>11379687What if you set the black bars to the color of the handheld's body
>>11379687Black + OLED is a god combination. Every aspect ratio looks like the handheld was made for it.>but fingerprintsJust wipe your device down once a night. I honestly wouldn't mind getting an RG406H because the Mini just dropped the ball in terms of being a reliable device with that reflective glass frame, but it just sucks that Anbernic still loves shipping out Android devices with sticks on top.>>11379636Vita TV, and then softmod it to whitelist a bunch of games that otherwise wouldn't run. While you're at it, overclock it because there's more performance overhead on the Vita that you'd pretty much be losing on. Using a PSP with component cables and a charger running on the bottom isn't a terribly good experience personally. And a dualshock 3 or 4 controller is more comfortable to play on than a PSP on the whole.
>>11379691It won't look as good as on the black because blacks on OLED are the pixels being fully turned off.
>>11379417the trimui brick
Anybody have issues with Patapon 2 crashing all the time? I'm playing 3 now for the first time and it's not the same.
Alright, so I own both of these bitches, and I have to say that if anyone was trying to decide between them, it's the Anbernic without a doubt. Yeah, the Miyoo is more comfortable, the bigger buttons especially the shoulders are way better. But the Anbernic still has responsive and perfectly usable controls, even if they are small. But on the software side, the A30's OS options suck. Stock is no good, Spruce is hardly any better, and I wound up with MinUI pretty much by default. Not my ideal OS, but at least it's snappy, and I suppose it is appropriate for the A30 because if the system isn't going to do what I want regardless, then at least MinUI cuts the pretense about it. Conversely, the 28XX has muOS and Knulli. I prefer Knulli, though it hasn't updated in months, hopefully hasn't been abandoned. Either way the software is much better, especially since you can actually use shaders on the 28XX.Hopefully one day someone makes a GB Micro clone with buttons like the A30 but a chipset like the 28XX (or better on both counts, of course) and then we can all just get that, but in the meantime, Anbernic takes this one.
I'm mulling over getting a third console, since it's still sale day on aliexpress.I've already got an R36S and a Trimui.I like the form factor of the anbernic SP but I heard it has a lot of issues. Is there anything under $45 that fills a niche either of these two don't?

>>11379375I cannot look at these links well because I'm on mobile.I'm thinking about buying a PSvita for PSX, NES, SNES, PS2, etc. Now, I'm worried that the screen being only 5 inches diagonal, plus games being 4:3 is going to be a shit experience because everything will be so small. What is the experience like on a small screen like that?
>>11379846>I'm thinking about buying a PSvita for PSX, NES, SNES, PS2, etc.Vita doesn't play PS2, it's not touching N64 or Saturn either. Even PSX is kinda sucky because L2/R2 are mapped to the touch pads.

>>11379419The Go is ass beyond the novelty factor. It's uncomfortable to hold and the battery life is terrible. The 3000 is even worse though with its fucked up screen. Either an unmodded 2000 or a 1000 with the IPS mod is the best way to go for PSP. Neither are perfect, but they're the least-compromised experience.
picked myself up a TSP and V10
>>11379439ISO launchers? Did you use a time machine to go back to 2012?>/vr/Oh. Anyway, Pro-C is the CFW I use. It's super easy to install, takes five minutes at most, and runs eboots straight off the menu. Thr advantage of using eboots over iso is that you can suspend them on the Go and they won't crash if you put the psp in sleep mode. Sadly a few hacks run poorly like Racing Lagoon.
>>11380048Nah, the best way to go for PSP is a Vita. Even the screen in 2000 models looks better than any stock PSP screen. You also get a second stick as well as slightly better emulation of some systems. And don't tell me about the blurry scaling because it doesn't have to be the case, as shown in this pic. PSP games perfectly integer scale x2 to fit on the Vita screen.
>>11379375How do multiple CD games like FF7, Chrono Cross, Xenogears and MGS work on the PSP GO?
>>11380121I think you combine disks in one eboot and swap them when the game asks for it in the menul
>>11379824>anbernic SP but I heard it has a lot of issues. There aren't really issues as far as I can see. The newer revisions have softer buttons, the battery is a non-issue, slap minui on it and you're set.
>>11379846Like the other guy said, you should really only get a vita for vita games. 'Cause vita emulation isn't there yet, if you want vita games, get a vita. But anything else, even psp, you're better off getting a different device.

I spent some time today testing both v4248 and v3668 of NetherSX2 (one of the perks of having two RP5s to test with right now!), and I've found that performance is generally better on v3668. As an example, the slowdowns I experienced in Ratchet & Clank with v4248 (as demonstrated in my review video yesterday) are minimized on v3668, to the point where it's just an occasional hiccup."Yikes, russ bros?

>>11379419The PSP Go but I'm biased. Managed to buy a charging dock and component cables for cheap around 13 years ago.
>>11380343>>11380257It is running at the native internal resolution just like it would on a PSP. If you want upscaling then by all means go for it, I think upscaled console games look out of place and tacky.

Some Vita games struggle to maintain even a solid 30fps, and overclocks help them maintain their target framerate compared to a non-overclocked Vita/Vita TV. It just serves as even more proof that Sony had no clue what they were doing with either the Vita or its TV counterpart.I'm not sure that it would do anything in regards to emulation, since I never really bothered outside of playing PS1 games on it.

>>11380550I've read that overclocking the Vita leads to it dying. Not sure about the VitaTV since that probably doesn't need to worry about overheating, but I have two of them and I like to baby my things.
>>11379580>best ps2 option for under $300?
>>11380759My Vita has been perpectually overclocked for years and still hasn't had any issues. Overclocking in general will always lower the lifespan of hardware though.
>>11380495Are the start/select buttons on the side or are they the l2/r2 looking buttons on top?
>>11380759It doesn't. The SoC that Vita uses is verified for up to 1GHz I think. Vita gets less hot overclock than the average chinkheld or even a modern phone does on stock settings while playing games. Sony was aiming for long battery life, that's why they reduced the clocks.
>>11380769>>11380765I see, then I suppose I will try overclocking my VitaTV later. Too bad overclocking it doesn't improve PSP games, but I'm not going to complain since I love my Vitas for all they can do for Sony games.

>>11380831>>11380847$200+ just for a dock that lets you use two cables at the same time(something the psp 3000 did without issue), is indeed a retarded cost for something that could feasibly have an alternative cobbled together by a chink company. Fuck sony for their retarded design for the Go that required it if you didn't want to have to choose between AC and video output.
>>11381183I mean, technically, yeah? Seems like a non-argument though."Don't get that 60" tv, the pixels will look bigger! Stick with 36!" Like it's technically right but who cares
>>11381448There's plenty on the PC front, I think even ZOTAC or some other PC company bought up Ayaneo's Slide device to sell for $500 in the US. If you mean on the Android front, probably not happening due to a lack of interest. You could just as easily connect any cheap bluetooth keyboard to an Android device, so its just not viewed as necessary.
Any Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 handhelds yet?Think I am going to hold out till a Gen 3 one comes because the power will be more than sufficient for everything.
>>11381643I got to go with the TrimUI Smart Pro desu. The 720p screen is good for 16:9 so all the port games can be played in 16:9 just fine.

>Analogue pocket costs FUCKING $220 These fuckers are printing moneyand they are LAUGHING
>>11381748Its hard to say that they're really printing money, because for the most part the Pocket was always out of stock. They probably made some decent cash back by selling it at a high mark up, and they undoubtedly profited by forcing people to buy their proprietary HDMI dock/accessories. But they're not making anywhere near the amount of money that they could be due to the company's business model. Anbernic probably makes the same amount of money just on the sales on the SP alone because its so readily available and made for cheap.
>>11381776Look at the prices of circuit components. The economy of scale for that thing probably means they are selling it around 66% more than the price to make and ship it, and that is being conservative.
>>11381779They're definitely making good money on mark ups, especially the cost of the limited edition metal variants. They were selling that shit for $500 dollars, and neither the RG405M or the Retroid Pocket 2S retailed for anywhere near that. Not even the RG552 IIRC. But Analogue's reliance on small batch releases to drum up interest just screws them over in terms of profitability long term, only scalpers really benefit from that.
>>11381784Not every company needs to be up to its eyes in debt and just producing its ass off to be profitable and successful. Look at the Madcatz controller company. They were literally everywhere and now it's gone like the pencil in the Joker scene.
How's the v90 so cheap?Did they make hundreds of thousands of the things when it was new and they're just trying to get rid of the stock?
>>11381108it would probably play the ps2 FF games perfectly too

Do any of you guys trust yours enough to leave them charging unattended for very long?
>>11382052The Go is great for one specific reason: being a consolized version of the handheld. Its the only one to natively support the dualshock3, so if you have the docking cradle for power and video output(and the PlayStation 3D TV as an extra bonus for images properly stretched to the full screen size), you are getting the best option to play PSP games using original hardware, without having to do so as a handheld or using the actual system as the controller.
>>11382261I'd never trust my 3DS with that.
>>11382116Probably only add 10-20 dollars to the price, and potentially it might not affect anything if they classify them as toys or some other product that isn't tarriffed.

>>11382209Yeah but it's 4:3 native and probably more comfy to hold. It's 140$ vs 180$ for the RP4Pro for me. Not sure if the slightly better performance is going to be worth it for worse ergonomics.

>>11382329Its not even funny how hard Miyoo fumbled the ball. Its not like the ZPG A1 Unicorn where Anbernic stole the idea from a company with less resources, Miyoo had a massive head start and plenty of money from the Mini and the Mini plus.

>>11382430The interest is there, but I think they're done with clamshells for now. At least until they swallow their pride and just use regular laptop style hinges
I'm confused. I thought joey was pro retroid because he made the video about it performing on par with the odin 2, while russ was against because he said it can't keep up with the odin 2. But now you guys are saying it's the other way around and russ is the shill and joey is brave for calling out retroid?

genuine question: why do people collect these things? i got the odin 2 a while back, and every now and then i pop in this general to see people gushing about the new POS anbernic released this month or the vaporware miyoo promised. doesn't it make more sense to just buy the one you want then play games and refresh your model in a couple years?

>>11382534Every electronic with upgradability is "trust me bro". If the company openly states they are going to fix it then they have some sense to actually followup or else their reputation takes a hit, and in this case it would be a huge hit given all the pre prod issues

Once the RP5 ships I'm out.As to why people collect things, some people just like having the newest thing, they could also like to show off their handheld collection to other collectors, or they for some reason have decided to apply a hoarder mentality to chink handhelds. Which, even in light of any incoming tariffs, is dumb as hell.

According to RetroHandhelds, Anbernic plans on selling the RG406H for $167, with the 72 hour pre-order window allowing people to grab it for $10 off. It could be a decent get if it werent for the fact that D-pad is on the bottom. Also the fact that its trailing behind the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro in terms of specs.

What do I get if I already have a TSP?
I have a spare Pixel 3a laying around which comes out at 4.1" or rather 5.0" for displaying 4:3, respectively 16:9 content. I briefly checked emulation performance with F-Zero GX and ootb it is not nearly close enough to 100% emulation speed to enjoy it. So maybe it can run some 30fps titles with the right settings but my focus is on 5th gen and below anyways. So should I get a telescopic controller for it like the G8 or a dedicated device like the 40XX H? Both would run me about 50$. Do the analog sticks on the 40XX H still have the typical Anbernig angle snapping which makes them pretty much useless or they fixed it? Is the D-Pad the same as on the V model?

Every single mid-range handheld has a significant downside that makes it not worth getting. Literally the only thing that makes sense is to get a sub $50 shitter like the MM+ and then the Deck. If the RP5 had proper linux instead of this dual boot shit and more power it might have been the one but it was not to be.

I haven't seen any information about this, so I figured I'd ask. Specifically I have an Analogue Pocket, but I'm sure this question can apply generally. >>11386209I have a TSP and can only sing praises for it really. Everything I want to play works flawlessly.Ports are a funny one anyways I don't get the moaning as Portmaster isn't officially supported on TSP yet.But given they're all linux shit I'm sure it'll get there.
>>11386707Well, little man opportunism aside it is just a Cube with 406v parts, there's really nothing to say except any newfound issues.>>11386754Can you comment on the shaders? Namely gameboy, gameboy-pocket and gameboy-color-dot-matrix.

between the retroid pocket 2s and 3+, which is more powerful?
>>113867823+. 2S has better sticks and analog triggers.
>>113867823+ is about 10% stronker on the CPU side so almost the same there, but about 30% stronger on GPU side.
>>11386754>Ports are a funny one anyways I don't get the moaning as Portmaster isn't officially supported on TSP yet.As a TSP owner, I am frustrated with the Portmaster people effectively dropping "PORTMASTER IS NOT SUPPORTED, LOL!" whenever the TSP is brought up. Why announce "Beta support" for the TSP and have a bunch of games listed as TSP playable on the website when the devs are so wishy washy on actually supporting it?
>>11386783>>11386785ill keep my 3+ then. My main issue is that I hate the 4 face buttons. too stiff and tall`
>>11386786I don't know why it isn't supported anyways, it's all the same linux shit.
Niche request, but one thing that really fucking pisses me off about retroids is the USB implementation doesn't support DAC dongles. They would make pretty damn good PMPs with a dongle + jamesdsp otherwise. Did they ever fix that for the 4 pro and 5?
Man, these android shits would be unusable for me without termuxYou can even build sm64 right on the device
The Powkiddy X28 walked so the Retroid Pocket 5 could run.
Turns out the fucking bastards at ValueVillage separated the controller from the handheld to try to maximize profits, but to my ultimate benefit because the stupid pricers in the back also added like five extra micro-USB and VGA cables not knowing what went with what.
BRICK REVIEWS WHEN I NEED TO KNOW WHETHER TO GET IT OR TO GET THE MM+
