>>1907028>Burgundy and Lithuania surviving to 1717>Denmark cucking England out of GB>Austria taking Napoli and Southern France, but not Venice in a game with Aragon present>Aragon living to 1717>Poland taking parts of Carpathia without Ottoblob or Russia pushing deeply into Eastern Europe>Brittany bordering Austria in 1717>EU4 game lasting until 1717It's pretty weird, yeah.
I like you guys so I'll give this for freehttps://youtu.be/dww8Hekngmg?=W2v11mFSNY_VuCQY
>>1907028Those 3 things are the big weirds, Aragon expanding is also weird but at least sort of expected in the 1 in 10 games where they don't get absorbed into Spain. I suppose Denmark got Scottish inheritance, Castille didn't get Aragon or got it and lost it, while Naples broke free and then got inherited by Austria which also inherited Provence. No idea how that France thing happened though, maybe they just got gangbanged by Burgundy and England which is rare since Burgundy should also dissappear in most games thanks to the inheritance.Pretty weird game, especially sine you don't seem to have fucked with Europe too much as the player.
>>1907055>I suppose Denmark got Scottish inheritancemore likely is that they just conquered the place starting from Norwegian-owned Shetland, and England was too busy in France to fully evict them
>>1907038>EU4 game lasting until 1717What you mean by that?>Pretty weird game, especially sine you don't seem to have fucked with Europe too much as the player.Yes, i didn't mess with Europe in any shape or form, just tried to maintain a diplomatic and good relation with the threating countries and to be friends with Castille, i just declared war in north and center african nations, to expand my territory, and made colonial Brazil declare war in castille's SA colonies which ended our friendship and alliance, i have 250 hours of game, and was juat playing this run to learn about colonial and trade mechanics, i spent almost the entire game without any points in 60th or something position, just chilling trying to conquest west africa and colonizing Brazil. What i should done to be a great power and be at least in the score list?
Anon if you really want the game to be enjoyable I would just dick around in it without trying to learn all the 'meta' strategies or hyper optimize gameplay. EU4 is it's best when you're playing suboptimally imo

>>1907116Why are you in Yugo in april of 39? Just start the war in autumn of 39 by killing poland if you are bad>>1907226Most likely
>>1907274>Why are you in Yugo in april of 39?I took the focus to release Croatia and annex Yugoslavia but they refused. Independent Croatia spawned and I went to war for it thinking I could quickly take it. The UK, France and Romania all joined the war on the Allies side but all they do is bombard me.Eventually I got the Poland focus and declared on them as well as I had like 30 regiments on the border doing nothing anyway.Since I was low on fuel, tanks, trucks and supplies, I consolidated my tank and truck regiments, things are looking better now that I have enough fuel and all equipment stocked up, but I'm not getting much territorial gains still.
>>1907282I would just restart and play historic instead. You lost a state to poland and allies have had year+ to build up with their war focuses by now.
>minor setback happends>just restart brois gsg really that mich of a pussy?Saving this is how actual fun challenges begin
>fun things are fun
>>1907293He could grind to victory yes but what's the point. He struggles with basic things there's no reason why he should grind away when he could start again and practice the fundamentals instead which is best done when you aren't in a meme war from 38 or 37.
>>1907292I was tempted to restart but I've already restarted so many times because I get to this point in every game and the same thing happens so I'm just going to run with it and hopefully learn some thing. It's never going to be an optimal run anyway with how much I'm doing wrong.
new swastika just dropped
>>1907296If you are going to continue then try to actually finish the fronts off. Bring the tanks to Poland and finish that first, use air to support the troops, especially in balkans because the terrain is tough and then go trough the netherlands for France once you have poland and either beaten Yugo or have the front in a place where you can just leave it with few infantry to guard while you move most of the forces out.

>>1907298
>>1907315Ehhh, it's a good deal different from the others. There is crossover in the audiences, but if you liked one specifically I don't think you would necessarily like the other. Plus they are different enough that the skills won't really transfer that well either
Have you ever personally seen a woman playing a wargame? In twenty years, I have not.
>>1906053So, I want to make my own gsg.One of the ideas I'm playing with is having each unit have Discipline and Morale. One being the willingness to fight and the other being the willingness to obey.A lack of discipline caused many military disasters despite no shortage of morale.Essentially player has to balance the two. E.g. every time an army moves, it's morale decreases but its discipline increases, the reverse happens when the army stays idle.If unit's morale reaches 0, it will desert, while discipline determines their battle performance.
why bother i will make the gsg you've been waiting for howevermorale > discipline in pre gunpowder battlehistorical morale hit doesn't translate well into a game, no one wants to micro such thingi guess it could work with holy wars, general with morale booster, promise of plunders, good wagesbut in the end, how good the general is and how well drilled the army is are the things that feels more rewarding for the players
>>1907466What timespan?
>>1907491medievalishI don't know what will come out of it, but I thought it'd be interesting to create a blend of Crusader Kings and Mount & Blade.Basically, M&B has a unique in-person point of view, while other map games are all omnipresent.Basically where you only control the army led by your character.

>armored cars>cost 4 productions and 2 steel>shit stats>light tank>costs 3 production and 1 steel>has much better statsDid they just forget to adjust armored cars cost?
>>1907986There are a lot of inconsistencies with them. There is a final AT upgraded variant of armored cars (Like the Puma) but it is in effect the same as taking a light tank and giving it wheeled suspension.
>>1907989Now that I think about it, no one ever bothers researching armored cars for marginally better garrisons. They should make it like flame/arty/at/aa tanks where if you give a light tank the right modification (wheeled suspension) then you can designate it as an armored car. This way people would pick up the techs to create it organically and it would just take a little army xp investment to get it up and running if you felt like you wanted to start putting armored cars into your garrisons.
>>1907992yeah, it'd be nice as I'd like to utilize them, but it always feels like I am shooting myself in the foot getting them. Plus, in actual uprisings armored cars made a massive difference historically.
just watched that johani actually like how simple the army looks just like in the m&b gamesi guess you will add some unity particle system™ for the easy game juice laterso a battle will only last for a single day and they seem to have immunity when fleeing can't wait for the econ/logistics part ps seeing how it comes together motivates me into resuming mine (:
>>1907985I am going to be honest with you this look horrible
>>1907998cheers ladthere will be lots of things to be improved upon, combat the way i envision it will be a lot slower and more methodicalhistorically it took russia 10 years to secure the baltics during the great northern war and only after that did they slowly begin to make gains in finlandfor the time being i just wanted to bring some things together, test pathfinding, ensure the map shader works perfectly (that one was a real bitch), and have some basic mechanics to expand upon in the future>so a battle will only last for a single dayyes battles will generally last 1-2 days, 3 in rare cases, as was the case for that period. don't like how you can reinforce battles for weeks or even months in paradox games>and they seem to have immunity when fleeingthat one is just things not being complete yet. also for the time being AI doesn't take supply lines into account

>>1907985Armies need more weight and presence. I'm not asking for custom XIX century hussars for Dahomey, but some sort of marker definitely would be an improvement. Maybe add a frame around the army flags too, Swedish one melts into the background. Round up displayed army numbers - 100k rather than 100489 -it's just easier to read at a glance.
>>1907986Armored cars have always been bit of a meme and after tank designer entirely superfluous. That being said it's still good idea that they included them, it's better for DLC exclusive things to be larps and memes that modders can work with rather than mandatory things and powercreeped core features.>>1907992>They should make it like flame/arty/at/aa tanks where if you give a light tank the right modification (wheeled suspension) then you can designate it as an armored car. They would but armored cars are in another DLC (sold separately)
Me again with another epic pacifist run.Playing as Ulm, I got to 50ish provinces and 1400 development at this point in 1672 without fighting any wars throughout the whole game.
>>1908293It was just deving until tech 14 when I finally got enough ideas to start diplovassalizing my neighbors. Had to become a monarchy for marriage bonus and switch to reformed, because they get +3 diplo reputation compared to catholic with just +1. Considering Ulm has nothing in its national ideas, there was no other way than to turn away from God. I had to time it with the generic missions which gave +2 more diplo rep and it was just barely enough to vassalize Wurttemberg and Baden in 1580. Then it was smooth sailing.

nuts
>>1908251>They would but armored cars are in another DLC (sold separately)That isn't the issue, the issue is that it would require the dlc that added in tank mods.
>>1908414Presumably if you can make tanks with the tank designer you then already have the tank designer DLC
>>1908437Yeah but that's tied to a dlc, hence why they can't move the APC to it.The new special research feature doesn't require a dlc to access by itself.

>>1909337>tfw you form the angevin kingdom and it takes 2 years off your one culture world conquest
yea france is a good PU to have, but forming the angevin kingdom makes your name and color bigger, which is the point of eu4 in the end
How difficult is it to keep France in PU after giving it all its starting lands back?
so far no one has ever managed it but you could be the first
>>1909373You're not supposed to give it all its lands back, in fact you only give them like 3 or 4 if you want to inherit them for free via the mission/decision parliament issue. If I gave them even one province more then I'd have to manually integrate or hope to inherit upon monarch death.

wiz and johan both completely suck at game developmentthomas johansen single-handedly made gsg a commercial venture with EU4 and now he's releasing imperator patcheswhat's he cooking?
i don't agreein a province-based economy, a province is only justified for size based on its economic/cultural/spiritual significancethis is why russia have giant swaths of nothing just like real lifeinteresting to see how t.johan corrects this issue with its devolutionary total war style army-movement systems
>>1909618>Like having huge province doesn't really represent the army's ability control the area.Well, yeah it basically does.If anything the less urbanised a province is the fewer soldiers you need to control itDo you think even armies of 30,000 people can fully control even small provinces when they're marching together? The resolution of provinces represents the areas of land within which simultaneous occupation is impossible
Just realised you need to keep king Carrol as a party animal to get "death or dishonor or cake" so that run is now dead in 1942.Any recommendations for another run? I kind of want to play as a country that turns itself into a puppet through it's focus tree for some reason.
the concept of province being a rigid border is just retarded in the first place, it scales badly with development and such but it's convenient to convey borders, make map modes and not having to visualize countless villages, towns and other types of settlements

>>1909639>the concpet of provinces is retardedtell that to literally every administration in history
my house should be its own province
retard the entire point of administrating a region is that it can be flexible and not a pre defined one that can't be changed at all in paradog games
and im not talking about province (as in the real life administrative term)
>>1909634no, it doesn't, development does>>1909641many of those are still very large
>Do you think even armies of 30,000 people can fully control even small provinces when they're marching together? nigga you only need like 10k troops max to pacify a large city from utter chaos. case study: aftermath of caesar's death, nika riots, the fall of Tenochtitlán etc, virtually every sack of a city ever since the looters would be outnumbered 1:2 at least
>>1906053My another issue with Paradox gsg is army speed. When I first played EU3 20 years ago, I was so excited because I thought army speed was actually impacted by army size, I thought only made sense. 20 years later, and they are still not impacted by it.All armies regardless of their size move the same speed, with two exception:>in Imperator, different units have different speeds, and army will move according to the slowest unit>in CK3,some characters have a trait that make their army move 10% fasterRealistically, it was hard to keep large armies moving and together. Only that many people could walk on the road at the same time, if you kept waiting for every wagon, the speed would halt. So, it might be weird, but I'd like there be "traveler capacity", so that only X amount of soldiers can travel from A to B at any given time.
>>1909665>>in Imperator, different units have different speeds, and army will move according to the slowest unitisn't this also a thing in HoI? or did 4 remove it? because it was definitely a thing before that
bro is mad his 20k army barely moves faster than someone with 40k armywhat a clueless dumbass
Rhodesia is gonna make it
>>1909643>imagine having to individually manage each of these provincesThe upside of that is if you want to play small countries within a group of small countries you can create an interesting microcosm of them all interacting with each other. But it needs interesting internal politics and economy for that to be fun.
>>1909643you would do what IMP doesprovinces are grouped into areas, and areas are grouped into regionsRegions have governors, and you don't have to deal with invidual provinces, in most cases you only have deal with areas
>interesting internal politics and economythere's this mobile game called "lapse" where you decide things and for example get a malus on economy but get a bonus on the armywould be a cool little mini game
>>1909602The AI doesn't really attack you if you play the game well. The only spot where the AI will actually attack you is you are a micro state which you won't be after 10 or so years in the game or if you are blobbing badly and get coalitioned, which if the guy is playing as pacifist he definitionally won't be so I think him not fighting once can easily be true. I can't even remember the last time I was attacked that wasn't intentional.
>my king! our local jewish community has offered us to finance our efforts in the crusade! in return, they would be glad to receive rights and tax exemptions on every levantine port that we'll conquered!kino
alright folks what are the ideal borders for grobromaniums (Vlach)? don't fuck this up
yall think anyone who hasnt been to gsg in like 5 years or more suddenly had the will to relive it and now thinks its dead because the jannies kicked us out of vg
>>1909602I was enjoying the protection of great powers for large portion of the game. You can simply make an alliance defensive-only with a click of a button. Though that will be a constant drain on favors from that AI, so it sucks if you want to buy provinces from them for favors. Another solution is to improve relations and then switch to attitude to friendly relations with everyone nearby that your ally might call you in against. The AI will never call you in then. If your ally gets attacked, you can simply decline call to arms. Though that never happened this game. I only had to decline calls as the defender of the faith.

>Always gotta remind the nips that they can't have shit
Army movement speed depending on army size would be a neat thing if one couldn't stack hella modifiers and instead had very few, very strong bonus one could get through specialization.A small, elite Carolean army should outspeed a large malnourished Russian army, allowing you to run circles around them. Unfortunately force limit modifiers, morale, and discipline bonus are handed like candy, so in the end both will have comparable armies regardless.
losing three major cities including damascus and fleeing the country in all under a week is all part of assad's plan, just you wait, in 100 years from now he will be known as the biggest military genius of the 21st century
damascus? eh, i'll deal with that later
damascus? but what about them?
This might be dumb question, but is there actually any proof that small armies are faster than the large ones? At the end of day, I don't think ten thousand men with cannons and supply wagons is going to be significantly faster than fifty thousand men with cannons and supply wagons.
quick mods are asleep post damascussy

>>1901180With Richard leading the soldiers of Strymon in defense of his mother-in-law's lands, Sarrazine tried to turn her attentions to her own court, particularly that of her husband. She and Loup had had a well enough relationship, but had only had one child. While Sarrazine was far past childbearing, she aspired to rekindle the spark that they had tried to share 30 years ago. However, against a chaste man, her aspirations were for naught and it seemed that they would continue to share separate rooms. Similarly regrettable, Richard would return from Serbia with little else to show, for Judith, annoyed with the difficulties of combat in the mountains, had negotiated a settlement with Duke Miroslav: status quo ante bellum. This had included fighting against Duke Visarion of Raska, seeking vengeance for his father, but nothing conclusive had come from their battles.
Though the spoils of age were taking their toll upon Sarrazine, she could at least take pride that Strymon was prosperous... but there was always more that could be taken to make it stronger.Speaking with her lords, they wished to put their time in Serbia to good use and seize Raska, acting upon her previous papal dispensation against Duke Prvoslav as a way to seize Visarion's lands. However, this battle would have to be fought without any help from Carpathia, for Judith had now turned her attention east to Ruthenia, for the Russians had become slaves to the Mohammadan lash.
Facing against the Raska-Duklja alliance, Richard and the other commanders aimed to prove Strymon's worth by achieving what Carpathia couldn't do. Thus began the precious game of positioning and the strategy of obtaining the advantage, which was eventually claimed at Novo Brdo. Aiming to pursue the scattered parties, however, the Strymon forces found themselves caught in a pincer after crossing into Hvosno, and were forced to fall back in defeat. Considering her options, the Serbian forces now outnumbered her own and so Sarrazine turned to her mercenary contacts and back to Master Batury of the Panthers of the Greave, paying for their provisions so that they could join the war on time.
With their numbers and Bautray's skill, the Serbian forces were defeated at Naisos and Pomoravlje, and, soon enough, Raska was taken and rewards were gifted out.
>>1909908Depends on the time period, in premodern settings definitely, in modern ones they are still faster on the micro scale such as faster to react to a change in situation and then turn around fast for instance but there's no reason why a larger army can't split up into operational units and march just as fast as one smaller one when moving from A to B.
With that conquest completed on her own, Sarrazine levied the support of her realm that she was more than just a mere duchess, but that her realm was worthy of a Despotate. This then included the quick seizure of Vratsa while Empress Judith's war against Ruthenia was won the next year.Receiving confirmation of her despotate from Fasti, the Emperor also granted her the support of the Imperial Church to bring the proper faith to her new subjects.
Her trip to Constantinople was followed with a soujourn around the Aegean, trusting Mysonopolis to Richard, as he would, one day, have to take her place. Arriving back in Strymon, Sarrazine received news with her daughter-in-law of Empress Judith's passing, and, while Gizella's elder sister Etel took up her mother's mantle, worries struck the Gasmouli court when Despot Barthemelmi's pox followed his foul air from Nikaea. With eyes wary for Sarrazine's fate, God made the ultimate decision: it would be Richard who would ascend to heaven first, leaving Sarrazine with his only child, a daughter named Eunike.
There was only one justifiable action, and that was revenge against Barthelemi. The Despot was busy in a war against the King of Frisia, who had long claimed a portion of northern Anatolia since the days of the crusade that liberated Constantinople. Though the Nikaean had a strong army, it was the right time for Sarrazine to seize Serres, a county the Despot had inherited that separated Strumica and Mysonopolis. While Emperor Fast fought against the rebellious Duchess of Athens, Sarrazine's march into Serres was unopposed, and her sieges progressed as she consoled Gizella for her sister's passing, as Etel's Carpathia had been split between her two eldest sons, teenaged-brothers Borisz and Bogumil. However, her attention was needed elsewhere, for the Despot's men had finally arrived, but, with the help of some "Norwegian Pillagers" (no idea how I received those troops), the Nikaean naval landing was easily repulsed.
As Barthelemi was forced to retreat back to Anatolia, Sarrazine's forces followed him, ecnouraging him to sign the land over to its rightful owner in return for peace--as the Despot still had the Frisians to deal with. Taking her rewards and incorporating its cities into her royal demesne, Sarrazine's loveless marriage with Loup finally ended, though the worries for the end of her own time were soon approaching. With Duchess Mathilde of Athens starting a new doomed-to-fail rebellion, Sarrazine instead took to gifting Eunike the strongest realm she could, expanding further along the Danube, wherever Strymon could conquer. >>1910635Well yes and no. But consider what happens if you have a chain of 3 provinces, one with 10k, one with 8k and one with 10k again. How many days will it take an army of 50k and 5k to move trough that? It should be fairly obvious why the smaller army can move faster trough the bottleneck.More importantly, there's no such thing as a "throughput" in real life. If a roman army of 10k shows up to a village of 500 it's going to drink the wells dry and eat the fields bare, the "throughput" is gone. When the next day's group arrives out of the 50k total men they won't find food and water in the village but have to forage further to get the same amount of resources the first block had. This is just going to get worse for the next 3 groups that are supposed to follow. There's several things like this that hamper pre modern army movements, from low development in comparison to army sizes to low amount of usable routes to poor supply logistics to bad maps and communication technology to more chances of ambushes and surprise combat along the way. All of these disproportionately effect bigger groups of people and slow them down, it's not just the fact that the road can only take so many men marching at the same time (which certainly is an issue when talking about tens of thousands of men and animals).

>>1909942{Despotissa Sarrazine Styrmoni of Strymon [1328] - 1353} Receiving the submission of Duke Arpad Hadik of Macva, Sarrazine was pleased to also receive Duke Stefan of Raska, who was pleased with his honors and titles, but wary of his Serbian peasantry. Proposing a celebration that could show how much the Latins and Slavs of the Balkans had been intertwined over the past hundred years, Sarrazine saw the benefits in not having to fight peasant uprisings in the mountains. An unintentional benefit was that it was attended by the neighboring Duke Miroslav Simeonic of Duklja who, with the proper rewards, was willing to bend the knee to Mosynopolis.
However, it appeared that this had all been a political scheme of the Duke: not even a year later, he was leading a coalition of other Serbian and Bulgarian noblemen to remove the Strymoni administrators who brought the wealth of the Balkans to the Aegean. However, Sarrazine's agents were quick to share this news and, preparing her forces, they quickly dispatched Miroslav's army when he tried to gather them outside of Moraca. However, the rest of his allies had marched on Mosynopolis, and so Sarrazine contracted out Captain Josip of Bulgarian Band of Pirinto to lead her forces to victory, for the sturdy walls of Serres and kept the rebels at bay. With Josip leading Sarrazine's forces to victory at Drama, the war was soon over and the dissidents quelled--and, now, Dukllja could be given to a more trustworthy subject.
Considering all of the titles to redistribute, Sarrazine made a critical decision that Duklja would not be divided, but wholly gifted to Averardo Medici, a well-educated Florentine accountant who had been leading Strymon's bureaucracy (some could argue the reason for the rebellion, but that discussion was never fully brought before the Despotissa). Promising to reorganize the land of the Black Mountain into Strymon's jewel on the Adriatic, Sarrazine was pleased with the service of the Florentine and the wealth he brought back from his Italian connections. They were connections that Emperor Fasti Beauffremont would've preferred himself, for the Drunkard of Constantinople was having enough problems maintaining his own rule.
With the rule of Strymon almost eclipsing that of the Emperor's, more rulers were turning to Sarrazine for safety and protection: one of them would be Duke Poul of Oltenia, who would gift the Despotissa solid lands in Wallachia, bordering the newly-established merchant cities of Vidin to secure trade along the Danube. And money would be important for Sarrazine, for the armies of Strymon had to be ready for the newly declared crusade for Syria, as the heartlands of Baghdad and Egypt were too defended, but Damascus was but a short march away from Jerusalem. Her faith in the Horned God long diminished after decades of inactivity, Sarrazine knew that she didn't have long before her fate would be read to her by Saint Peter. Unfortunately for Sarrazine, she would not know the fate of this glorious mission, passing away in her sleep as her soldiers gathered at the dockyards. With Strymon passing to her 19 year old granddaughter, Eunike, our tale will now follow those who joined that expedition, and the infamous debacle that came of Despot Andre of Nikaea. {Despot Andre Chatenois-Nikaea of Nikaea [1353] - [1355]} While the Beaufremont-Nikaeans had won their independence from Constantinople decades ago, Andre had inherited a weakened realm from his father, Barthelemi II, reduced to two castles in western Anatolia, while powerful magnates ruled the rest of his domain, circled by Frisians in the North, the Latins to the west, south, and northeast, and then Muslim states in the east. He barely had enough funds to supply his host against the Zengids, but, with his brother Zenon and uncle Gilles, could muster up some faith that he could try to make a name for himself.
With Antoich just across the Latin Empire's holdings in Cilicia, Andre set forth for Alexandretta and, hearing of other Crusaders passing through Cilicia, was quite peeved when most of them took the inland route, rather than assist in the coastal siege. As such, the Nikaean forces were isolated and alone when Atabeg Kilic Saltukid's army, led by Cumano-Mongol horsemen, attacked! Terribly outnumbered and outmaneuvered, those who hadn't taken the captured fortress were slaughtered or captured--which, unfortunately, had included both Andre and his brother Zenon! Despite the arrival of more crusaders, who resupplied uncle Gilles of Ephesos' remaining troops, Captain Sotan of the Turkmen Band took the Chatenois brothers across the Syrian desert to Gaziantep, where they would linger for many months. It was most cruel that Andre and Zenon were separated from each other, and could only communicate through another captured crusader, a Vlach named Tepes Diamandy.
>>1907498>giving each state a unique government type in its common nameDon't do this, it's retarded and it screams "baby's first worldbuilding project". Countries are normally not referred to by their full official name. We don't say "Federal Republic of Germany" or "French Republic", we just say "Germany" and "France". Also, you would typically have a lot of countries with the same government type, not a unique government type for every country.
With what little news Andre could collect, uncle Gilles was still leading the war effort, which had overwhelmingly turned in favor of Christendom, for neither Egypt nor Mesopotamia had joined in defense of Damascus. Some disheartening to Andre was that Gilles managed to afford Zenon's ransom, but not his, and so heartfelt words were exchanged between the brothers, Zenon promising to act as regent and ensure the lingering rumbles from Duke Matthieu Thorotte of Rum would be addressed. While it sounded like Andre would at least be able to continue with negotiations, Captain Sotan shared the grim news that, at 56 years old, Gilles had died of his age, and so it was now up to Zenon to earn his brother's freedom.
However, Zenon won a much larger prize, as, taking up Gilles' army, had marched on Damascus and seized the city: he was now the King of Syria! {Despot Zenon Chatenois-Syria of Syria [1355] - [1355]} While the whole world was in awe of the Chatenois' achievement, Zenon's redistribution of lands and titles in wake of the conquest was quickly conferred to the Papal legates who had tallied the actions of the crusade, Zenon was more concerned with his brother's realm, which he, quite frankly, hadn't even returned to. While a portion of the Nikaean army would join him in Syria, the remaining troops made back for their homes, which were currently under threat from two forces: Duke Matthieu of Rum had allegeldy raised troops in absence of his brother and their uncle, while a number of Egyptian corsairs had started raiding the western shore of Andre's realm!
Ransoming Andre from Atabeg Kilic, his brother was quick to return to Pacatiana, for not a moment could be wasted. Having told him of the loot that his soldiers had brought home, Andre was quick to pay crusader veterans to deal with the threats to his land, rather than use the few men that Zenon could keep for himself. Trusting that his brother had the ability (and the funds) to lead his own realm, Zenon would tend to his new crusader realm and what would be the fate of Damascus... (last post)

>>1911380> "this world was made by an amateur who has no idea what he's doing."You are representing your personal preferences as factual truth as if you were some sort of authority on the matter.I have been worldbuilding for many years and have seen hundreds of fantasy maps, and I have concluded that most of them are not interesting to onlookers. They tell you very little about the state of the world they are depicting. Most people don't read your lore no matter how much effort you put into it. So, if you want to convey quick information to the people, it can be via details on the map, which might make it interesting to them. Therefore, the map needs to tell a story and indicate dimensions. One aspect of it is the naming, you can name your factions: Alaphia, Batatia, Celatia, and Dilatia. But those names wouldn't tell you anything about them. The same persists if they are all "kingdoms of X", as they don't stand out. This is why giving a unique government name at least implies some chaterization.

>>1911380>The only time government form is used is when you have a fractured country and the government form denotes which half you're talking aboutthere are a few other times but ironically in those it's not uncommon to see the country referred to only by its governmental title and the actual country part skipped over entirelyfor example, nobody calls it the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, but just calling it the United Kingdom without any further elaboration is at least not much less common than the more metonymic (Great) Britain (or even just England). or, for historical examples, La Serenissima versus Venice, or the Commonwealth versus Poland(-Lithuania)...then you have the United States of America versus just the United States versus just America, where it's anyone's guess>>1911494if it makes you feel any better, in the file the option is followed by "##Commit Soduku", so they can't even be bothered to spellcheck their meme commentary

>>1911942Germany.
>>1911864Start with Germany first. They have good templates and industry to ease you into the game so you can play on autopilot. Once you get a feel for combat, terrain debuffs and supply management then try other nations.Biggest tip that no click farming grifter will tell you is pic related. Put your armies on carefully execute battle plans and the AI will only fill a province if it will not go over supply capacity, unless you manually order them to move there. They will stand next to the province or nearby instead of causing you endless frustration with out of supply penalties on your front line.I haven't played with cohesion much but that's the next thing I'll be experimenting with to see how your armies behave on different settings.
>>1911964>Biggest tip that no click farming grifter will tell you is pic relatedExecuting battle plans is for after you've already broken the enemy with micro'd troops or completely overwhelming supremacy. In which case you might as well set them to aggressive.

>>1911864Yes, the game is very accessible. If you are at least somewhat familiar with video games or have played some paradox games or other strategy games then just pick Germany and start doing things. Follow the historical path, declare war on poland in summer/autumn of 39, go for France trough the lowlands after that and soviets in summer 41. Pick up the other countries as you see fit/have time, Norway in particular is probably not worth the hassle but a good target to practice naval or aerial invasions on.If you are literal video game baby and this is your first game then pick something like Hungary and just fuck around until the game ends, join Axis with your focuses and watch what happens and what Germany does so you can play them in the next game.Just fuck around trying to do things, learn what the buttons do and don't expect to win on your first round and you will be fine. If you lose to Poland you are ultra bad, if you lose to France it's not that bad but even beginners should be able to roll France, Soviets will be a test on how well you did. When you can win against Soviets play some of the other countries. Soviets and USA are good picks afterwards for an entirely new game.As a general tip, try to have at least 2 types of divisions, cheap defensive ones and expensive offensive ones that you hopefully control yourself. Battleplans give your units an attack bonus when the units get ready to attack (or plan as the game tells you) but actually activating the plan is not that great of an idea.>>1911933Italy and UK are terrible starting choices, having weak industry, no clear goals on what to do and having to engage with naval invasions and/or Africa. If you just want to not play the game for a while and be safe then pick USA.

>>1906053Think all map-painter suffer from the same issue. After a certain point, you are able to beat down the strongest empire, and after that, it's just repetition with no risk. Some games introduce mechanics to slow down expansion or shattering mechanics, but is it really fun to see your empire collapse?I think it's just a fundamental flaw with map painters. The GSG shouldn't even be about nations but individual people.Countries are vehicles for politicians to improve their own interests in pursuit of their happiness. That is what history is all about. So, instead of a game where you play as Ottoman Empire and select which province you conquer next, you should play as Ottoman sultan and focus on selecting which wife you are going fuck next, and occasionally you can conquer something. Like Genghis Khan 2: Grey of the WolfYou'd think that would be the bread and butter of CK3, but nope, it's a thinly disguised map-painter with Tinder events.Either way, that was just a random rant.
>The GSG shouldn't even be about nations but individual people.true. are you a newfren who hasnt touched ck2 because ck3: new = better?because ck3 still cant hold a candle to ck2.and ck2 is very much like what you described and its less blobby than ck3.

>>1912618I have played CK2 for 1000 hoursI will say character gameplay is better in that like I could just sit my one-county island for centuries, and do society stuff and occasionally deal with my son trying to depose me. But CK2 has other issues.I will say the weirdest thing CK3 did was get rid of Ambitions from CK2. So, in CK2 your character could select ambition, such Get Married, Get a Son, Conquer a Kingdom, etc. Very simple stuff.Granted they didn't do much with, but I feel the ambition system could be expanded to something really sweet. One of the problems with CK3 is that you can play essentially the same character every generation. Your son has good chance of having same traits if they were mentored by your previous character. Even when they don't your gameplay doesn't really change. What if every character had their own ambitions and dreams? Like they would be randomly assigned Ambition, and player would have complete their ambition or suffer stress penalties.
I love the ability to customize titles in ck3, I think it's one of my favorite parts about it. Really makes roleplaying and immersion a lot more fun

I don't know why this is or if I have some option/government thing that makes this be, but it seems completely unbalanced

>>1913147Done with my Granada playthrough. Late game was a slog as usual but fairly balanced considering all the european great powers including me hover around 1 million troops. The start was really insane though. I went bankrupt twice in the wars against iberians. Then I didn't blob into the easy regions because I wanted to stick to only conquering what the mission tree says. Had to wait for a golden opportunity to finish off the crippled states of castille and portugal, who kept being allied to france/GB or protected by defender of faith Commonwealth.Late game France whooped my ass in several huge battles thanks to morale, but Ottomans were then a total pushover. I still can't decide if I want to keep playing very hard or lower is to hard. On one hand, I like these strong countries that the AI builds, but the early numerical advantage is frustrating to play against sometimes. Having to go to 70/30 force limit to fight a war is nuts.

I used to notice it back in Dominions 5, but in Dominions 6, my horsemen keep lancing humans in the ankles.I suspect there is a bug in Dominions 6 where mounted units are using their own height for attacks, which results in their swords flying out of the horse's belly and stabbing barbarians in the knees.
still not playing that ugly ah meme game
>>1912615>Some games introduce mechanics to slow down expansion or shattering mechanics, but is it really fun to see your empire collapse?I think it can be, as long as you have ways to interact with the world besides map painting. If your empire disappears and it's as if it never existed then that's boring. If the influence you had shapes your former colonies in a way that continues your legacy or creates interesting future interactions then that's interesting
>>1914757The reason why I love Imperator so much is because your empire actually leaves a legacy. If an empire is constantly getting occupied, its population begins to drop significantly. Its pops are enslaved, while other pops start migrating out of the country because they are unhappy. You build roads and cities, not to get more money, but to keep pops happy, otherwise, they will start migrating out.And demographics are constantly changing, a kingdom can only have one or two ruling cultures, and the rest will have to be assimilated. Slaves are not eternal, if you stay in peace your slave population will disappear, because the slaves pops will assimilate into the ruling culture so they can become freemen. It's the complete opposite of CK3 and EU4, where you pay mana to convert a culture and build buildings to get +2 more income. And where constant occupation only grant temporary negative modifiers.
>>1914766CK2 was also like that to an extent, where because everything was statistical and your influence over individual provinces was so removed religious/cultural conversions were a much more gradual process. Also it applies to both, but obviously being able to leave your dynasty on another kingdom even when it split left some kind of legacy (and gameplay opportunities for reintegration later on)
they just need to combine football manager and gsg ffs
Decided to come back keep going with my Kiwis a bit more. I would be able to form the Polynesian Empire right now but Japan gave Germany Saipan and some other islands for some reason. Once Germany capitulates I'll be able to request the land from Japan.I'll probably just stop once I do that. In the meantime, I guess I'll help out Japan and jump on Vladivostok.
kiwi's are insufferableyou genuinely reckon kiwi's are gonna go into borneo and annex it?look up the demographics of NZ current-year and tell me what you think
miles is trying to force me to mid-table for a year while the wunderkinder level upat least i got chicken
I had an idea for a gsgI can definitely build it from scratch in like a year, right?
And if you weren't aware, the whole reasoning behind the Kiwi game is that they are one of three focus tree nations that have access to one of these advisers. So I'm going all-in on paratroopers. But with their limited resources I cannot unlock their full potential. It might be funny to just keep playing this one, building up a nuclear sub fleet, nuclear ICBMs, and turning every island in the Pacific into a giant fortress. But the last update really fucked up late-game performance so I'll probably not go that far.

>It's good to be kingHow fares the campaign anons?
donkeys sound boring
>>1914864Originally no, but whatever update added tags in Oceania gave them the ability to form Polynesia. They also get one of those non-core manpower advisers. The new peace deals were really fucking me over.I had gotten most of the other countries in Asia into the Chinese faction to capitulate all of them, not knowing they changed the way peace deals work. I wanted to release a chunk of Southern China as a colab government originally which probably would have been the best path for NZ.
Jumping on Vladivostok worked out very well. Would have been even better if their airport was actually in Vladivostok and not up in the fucking mountains to the north. I'm starting to build up an actually decent number of divisions so after this I think I might start looking towards knocking out India.
What's the goal kiwianon?
What's the best tutorial nation to learn how to play Vic II?

Why aren't they forming romania? There isn't any tech requirement on the wiki
>>1915154I didn’t have a set goal to start with other than effectively use paratroopers. At this point though I think I’ll be happy with taking India.Kind of irked though that I could have been getting a colab ready years back but I didn’t think there was any chance of taking actions like that. Or that I could have managed the Chinese peace differently.Hopefully I’ll reach a satisfying end point soon and I can move on to either a Germany or Romania campaign, the other two nations with insane paratrooper advisers.

Alright, I've destroyed a good chunk of the Soviet forces in the East. I could start doing jumps in Kamchatka and even use that to open a front in Alaska if I wanted, but I'm not sure creating more low-supply frontlines are in my interest. I've pulled everything back to Sri Lanka. I've mentioned this before, but I just want to point out that I used the peace deal mod to prevent Japan from utterly fucking up the Chinese peace deal every single time, and I gave all of China to Manchukuo. Unbeknownst to me, they just refuse to take their focus that would core everything, even though they seem to meet the requirements. Which as you could imagine ultimately ended up being a huge hindrance to our faction. A collab or even puppet China would have been so much more effective.
Autism x2 (two)
That was actually really easy.
Even their modern tank is a tractor
I picked up like 800k manpower just from occupying India, before I even raised compliance. That got me to reform my industry and prepare to begin training on hundreds of garrison divisions, which will increase my army size, which will eventually increase my SF limit, which will then finally allow me to get more paratroopers. In other news, the Axis finally fell, which allowed me to grab Saipan and form the Polynesian Empire.
>>1915426>to reform my industryInfantry*
The most decorated military organization in the world, the Polynesian Paratroopers, have just completed the most impressive feat in perhaps all of military history. Four divisions, totaling 47,600 men, jumped on Wake Island against a force 14 times larger than themselves, instantly destroyed or captured the enemy force upon landing. And they did so whilst taking zero casualties.

I am here once again to shill Orb otherwise known as heliocentrism the anime. It's very kino. Please watch thank you
legend of the galactic heroes is very kino and a must watch if you fancy yourself a grand strategist
919Have been hearing about this anime for almost a decade at this point. Haven't touched it yet worth a watch you say?
absolutely.consider watching the OG laserdisc version because the blu ray remake is kind of a downgrade.
Ok anon I'll watch it with my dinner but in exchange please watch orb it's criminally slept on
oh also you gotta watch the movie "my conquest is the sea of stars" first which is really just a prologue and can be considered the first 3 episodes (its 1 hour so that equals the runtime of 3 episodes)926yeah ill check it out
>>1915789It's cool
>start in Ravenna (or any other neighboring county)>only blob into lands that would have become Italian city-states in XV century, not a single county beyond that>play tall, build up economy, fight with mercs>basically become a Renaissance Doge a few centuries earlyCk2 or ck3?
eu5 will save us
ck2 of course

Oh no! the Allies have launched D-Day #37 in India! What will I do?!
post casualties
The last couple invasion attempts have been pretty anemic, so I didn't bother getting a screenshot. The earlier ones were much larger.I have sunk about half a dozen carriers recently. Though it would seem I still have a ways to go.
ask gpt to write an imaginary campaign in the style of AARnon...
Here are some overall stats. The Greater East-Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere has 8.5m men in the field, the Allies and Comintern have at least 21.4m.We've taken 15.3m casualties, the enemy has taken 51.3m casualties.
Finally beat up the Allied airforce enough that I could jump on the front line in Eastern Persia.
And the casualty stats from this jump. Not pictured; one additional 120k stack wiped in Kerman.
>>1916123this is how you do flavour texts.

Japan has been losing ground in Manchuria, but we managed to greatly relieve the pressure with a massive airborne operation which dismantled Mongolia and destroyed a significant amount of Warsaw Pact troops in Inner Mongolia. However, Manchukuo is out of manpower, and I see that it is now urgent that I expel the Soviets from Manchuria and push them back to Buryatia.
Finally got supersonic jets. Don't know much about Polynesian culture so I named them after things in Moana.
>japan instead of koreacringe
such severe inconsistent naming in a game about painting maps is really irritating. Every "other" ideology has some interesting full government name while the "main" ideology for a country is just the generic name.
The arrival of the Soviet's new T-52 tanks on the battlefield likely played a significant role in the turning of the tide in Siberia. It is up to the Emu Rangers to show them who is the true king of the battlefield.
godspeed you crazy kiwis
>>1916123i seen each one of these and checked them each timeit's good pusci--like what vic2 HoD tried to do but actually immersive
Oh also for anyone that knows meta templates better than me, is this how you should be setting up naval bombers? There are armor piercing bomb locks but you get a little message that the modules aren't additive and it will only use the more effective one for naval attack. And you can't use multiple torpedo modules so I'm left with this.
>THDTHD>THDTHD
Another combat jump completed, another 5 Modern tank divisions destroyed.Right now, the plan is to push the Soviets to Bratsk. My hope is that their supply will be so shitty that they won't really be able to do anything on that front anymore, and that I'll capture the aluminum in that region and be able to allocate more factories to my supersonic jets.
Additionally, we've got two of our own modern tank divisions finally about ready to roll out. Yes, I know medium flame companies are slightly better, but I already have a surplus of light ones because of the paratroopers. And the armored engineers seem like a decimal is in the wrong place or something because their use cases are very limited.
Alright, I really need to get to bed. >key updatesOur casualties have climbed to 19.25m. Enemy casualties have climbed to 72.24m.We integrated the Empire of Siam, and converted their army to our infantry template. We released Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and the Philippines (just Palawan) as collaboration governments. The Soviet lines are getting thin and we've seized major railways which has greatly affected their forces ability to resupply.
5ambruhfix your shitty sleeping schedule
The army is bankrupting the state
that's actually really cheap for a 120k army that's currently reinforcing
Most of it is cav as well, currently trying to get cav cost down as it's the main limit to having full cav armies
historicallyyou can only counter cavalry with an entrenched position or a highly trained infantry with proper equipmentseu4 does have army professionalism however it's a dlc and there's no mechanic to fortify yourself other than camping at mountain province alikes even though it could work on plains like agincourt
the other 26% being the HoloCure i bet

Allies were starting to get aggressive again so I detoured back to Persia to jump on their front line. I left one province they could escape to which was already a bulge in the line, going to reform at a closer airport and try to jump on them again before they can escape. I've built enough airports that now if needed I can just divert fighters into the region I need to control and they usually stop contesting it pretty quickly. On the subject of planes, our supersonic jets are doing fairly well, usually pulling in about a 1-5 ratio. Annoyingly, the supersonic CAS is a different type of plane than the other CAS for some reason. So while the naval and fighter wings will gradually just be phased out by supersonics, all the veteran CAS wings are getting merged together as they die and don't get replaced and I have to raise up new supersonic CAS wings that need to be retrained.
cool post but i dont play goy4
>one underequipped division is sent to secure an empty rear province to complete an encirclement>lands on 20 divisions>wins
We've pushed the Allies and Soviets apart. I think I'll liberate Iran and take the Euphrates, leaving the Allies on the other side sweltering with no supply. Then with the West secured we'll bust North and seize Baku since my oil supplies are dwindling a bit and I don't want to have to trade with Venezuela. Plus it would be a narrow, defensible position to hold. I think it will be doable because so much of the Soviet forces are currently tied up in the East with minimal supplies that it will take them a significant amount of time just to man the front in the West. And then after we take the Caucuses and hold the mountains, I'll paradrop across Southern Arabia and sweep North, cutting off the Allies manning the border along the Euphrates.
how many do you think browse page 10 gsg and read your postsin vst of all places even

why are you being rude for no reason chill
nothing wrong with being an npc
Soviets reacted more quickly than I anticipated, and with the lack of a rail line heading north I quickly found myself out of supply. Pushed back to Tabriz, I now need to regain control of the air to resume paratrooper operations and destroy the Soviet line from the rear.Fortunately, it would appear that control over the air will very soon be achieved.

eh, colonising is kinda nice.its nothing exciting, why would it be.just colonise&chill bro.
>>1915302remake in better framing
903TruePeople (I use that term very loosely) who mainly play german tags in dogshit4 have their understanding of the game twisted and wrong and shouldn't be allowed to propose or suggest anything for dogshit5
literally nobody plays german tags in eu4your mind was twisted into a parody of itself by reddit memes
935but how is eu4 colonising bad and what do you think would make it better?
people joke about ck3 being a cookie clicker but actually it's eu4 that posses the most amount of memegame mechanicsthere is nothing grand about eu4it's just a game of waiting and picking your favorite modifiersthe game is so arbitrary you'd be better off with painting the map yourself (there's tons of websites for this) and have gpt make up a well written campaign for you
4/10 bait
i mean yeah eu4 is based on a board game, its intentional.which is one reason why i think "project caesar" wont be eu5 but a new title because its not based on the europa universalis board game.
>needing 1000 settlers to establish a colonial province even doe pops don't even exist>arbitrary trading design>you ships can easily travel anywhere in the world without wind >3 dev """ trading outpost""" can repair and sustain a fleet of 500 ships indefinitely as long as you have the money and sailors that can magically cover the cost even doe this province is in the middle of the pacificyour mom is a 4/10 bait
criticising a game thats not trying to be a simulation for not being a simulation is not very smart
my mom is at least a 6/10 for catching my dad kiddo
exactly so you admit eu4 is just a retarded cookie clicker with map painting and arbitrary playthingscool
yeahits not that big of a deal brorelax a little
where did he admit that?
>goods produced>no goods are actually ever being produced>why do you get 100% of the income from goods being produced??>republic>what's the difference? player still makes the unanimous decision anyways>estate land / crownland>so the estates quite literally own 2/3 of your country but actually not really?? you still get full goodies from a province literally the same income as having 100% crownland>parliament>like most dlcs, it only exists to give you a bonus>corruption>is just a plain debuff
957I mainly hate how ridiculously gamey and arbitrary it is. You need a colonist unit to colonize a county. What does this abstraction even represent? The only quadruple digit IQ gigamind in my entire nation that managed to grasp the concept of colonization? Why can't I have two, three, fifty counties being colonized at once? You need to pay upkeep to settle in a county. Except the price has nothing to do with what you are trying to colonize, it's only there so that they could add a modifier attached to it.Same with 1000 settlers required, why exactly 1000? Why is the speed of this number growing depends on one modifier that is entirely isolated from the colonizing nation, its characteristics and current situation? And where do they even come from if the game has no representation or even abstraction of population? The entire colonization system in dogshit4 is just a stacked heap of increasingly vague and illogical abstractions
i mean vstdrones have been creaming their pants this past year just because project salad will have abstractions that are just slightly make more sense than in peepoopoor
it represents the logistics required to colonize a province you triple retardthat's why you can go colonize beyond your means and overdraft your economy in exchange for more established colonies at a timethe number is 1000 because you'd piss your pants if it was 100.0 per cent and nobody gave a shit
Exactly what logistics are you talking about and how come an OPM and a blob the size of Eurasia get exactly the same number of said logistics (assuming they picked the same idea groups)
> how come an OPM and a blob the size of Eurasia get exactly the same number of said logisticsto simulate the netherlands bumfucking the orientand no, they don't get the exact same number even if they did pick the same idea groups due to the first come first serve mechanics
You seem to have misunderstood my post, please re-read it and try again
allow me to correct myself theneu4 is a video game
Fair enough, but it's an extremely poorly designed game and I really hope project caesar will end up better
>a game trying to be a spreadsheet simulator without a spreadsheet uii wouldn't get my hopes up
>poorly designed because its based on a board game and not a simulation and doesnt try to be onek dude
