I was lying in bed, eyes wide open (or so I remember) but at the same time I could see myself in bed, like I was standing in front of me and looking at my body. It was like I was experiencing things in regular "first person" mode but also third person and my view would constantly change between the two. Then, while my brain was trying to make sense of what's happening I guess, I switched to the third person view and I would see my face deflate every few seconds, almost like watching a balloon slowly deflate. I would stare at my deflated face for a few seconds and like magic it was "healed" again

That was already freaky enough at that point but then is where I got actually scared shitless. I could see my face starting to smile sinisterly back to me. I'm honestly afraid and kind of traumatized still from this even after many years, otherwise I'd go and look for a photo to give you an example but just try to picture the face from that urban legend of the slit mouth woman. A smile that would go almost from one ear to the other, looking back at me and going back to normal and then smiling back again like a loop. I got so scared that I eventually snapped out of it and tried to turn my head facing the wall and closed my eyes trying to fall asleep but I would get "tormented" by demonic faces appearing in the black void when I closed my eyes for at least another hour

All this to say, yes, YouTube is filled with those videos and I'd guess that a lot of them are fake but do know that experiences like these can happen. The way our mind works, the chemistry in our brain, or some sort of metaphysical world we might be "touching" or passing through on critical moments. Whichever of those you believe, your perception can change massively when near death or if you do hallucinogenic drugs. Whether they come from the same source I don't know but after you have a heavy experience like that you start to understand how fragile our minds are and how fragile our consensus reality also is

Also to another point you made, about sounding more like drug trips. As I said above about whether or not they come from the same source, in my opinion they are. I just believe that hallucinogens are like a lite version of death, I really do think your brain (or your physical body) thinks it's dying when you try those drugs and you get those experiences. I'm guessing that NDEs are the more heavy duty versions of this. After all, for NDEs, you can just say it was a hallucination while oxygen deprived, it doesn't make it any less real for the person who experienced it. What would be the difference between hallucinating your own death for one hour on drugs and hallucinating your dead parents for a few minutes, how could you differentiate if one had some "afterlife" nuance behind it and the other one was just a product of chemical reactions in your brain or oxygen deprivation? Maybe they both touch on the same thing, or maybe not
