It could be adapted but it'd be shit and/or require extensive rewriting of the story. It is designed around being a VN and the first-person perspective is extremely important both for the overall narrative and the philosophical themes of the work. It would also require multiple seasons because the routes are meant to be read linearly, so cutting any of them out means big chunks of the story are completely missing.To me, Subahibi is something like Book of the New Sun or some other VNs where there's really no merit to seeing an anime adaptation unless it's a complete reinterpretation. The experience will always be inferior unless the director is trying to do something new with the original work, as opposed to just putting it on screen.

Everything else either hyperfocuses on one of these aspects, or has the antithesis of it (everyone is moody, generic criminals ad the bad guys, lame action scenes, overly grimdark writing and presentation)
