Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mighty Mouse, Garfield and Friends, and others all feel part of this new zeitgeist of the time of really self aware cartoons that felt in on the joke. TMNT does get less clever and repetitive, but even then I can't say it wasn't aware it was hackery. Because of that, it's still more fun than most repetitive cartoons.

Comic spiderman has been completely ruined and dangling the carrot of "PETER AND MJ WILL GET BACK TOGETHER" and cheap rage bait has killed any and all interest and care for a character that was at one point the face of not only marvel but comics in general.Marvel failed miserably in their stewardship of the character.
