This shit is beyond ridiculous. Is there an actual fucking competition I don't know about among "animators" to produce the ugliest shit imaginable? Is this some new religion? Can we call this "animated brutalism" yet? It seems as if there's some kind of actual horrible post-modern philosophy driving all of this that DEMANDS that everything be as unpleasing to the eye as possible. Is the goal to punish the viewer for watching?I can't stand this new generation of "animators" who seem to have no discernible talent other than inducing retching and dry heaving through their visual output. And of course they're all fucking women.
>>151822279I hate to be reactionary, but I'm also a little worried about this being the new go-to style for "adult" animation just like the Family Guy and Rick & Morty copycats we've seen in the past decade. I don't think HHYC is that popular yet, but the trend has already been set.
>>151820989you sound angry
>>151820989AS shit has famously been "bad animation" as part of the bit. Aqua Teens, Home Movies didn't start there, but that. Squidbillies. Outside of repurposed Hanna-Barbera properties or Venture Bros (which was more or less HB inspired anyway) the entire gimmick of the channel was "Haha, it's edgy, but it looks like SHIT!"
>>151824093this thread is about artstyle, not animation
>>151820989>Is there an actual fucking competition I don't know about among "animators" to produce the ugliest shit imaginable? Is this some new religion?something something weimar republic but honestly the animation cult is obsessed with drama and rubbing elbows and referencing boring shit from their childhoods and always ends up blaming executives and portraying themselves as victims to the system instead of just.... coming together and making their own studios, like people did and still rarely do.

>>151817445Yes. Rowling even said that wizards go to church as well. Magic doesn't disprove the existence of god and a plot point and moral of the entire HP series is that wizards are no better than muggles so they do believe in god or whatever.
>>151824125I don't know if there's an actually tradition associated with it or not but there's gotta be one of those stupid dolls in every attic box of decorations from the 50's and 60's.

How come the season of Beavis and Butt-head is still funny, however South Park still manages to stink to an all new low?
>>151824278South Park has become a completely different show than how it was originally conceived. Beavis and Butthead is the same show it's always been, just refined.

>>151823883Some more Stalker(active) and Compiler(passive). The hunter and gatherer classes.A Stalker hunts/hunts with their aspect. Using the wind to track, or beams of light to kill. Or they may hunt angels, Frogs, even mega fauna to great degrees. They tend to have an ultimate quest of their own white whale, hunting their ultimate challenge of their aspectCompilers gather/coalesce their aspect. Putting it all in one place for the use of everybody else. That use is malleable and up to other people. Shop owners and farmers in a senseFangs and Circuts: Aspect of structure and behaviorFangs is the aspects of beasts and savagery. Circuits is the aspect of efficiency and construction. Fangs is when power is let lose and wild, powerful but somewhat uncontrolled. Things left to the whims of nature. But it also has the tendency of getting rid of what isn't needed. Losing your legs when you start evolving to swim. Simplicity in form, exertions in action.Circuits is sleek, efficient. Energy controlled, surface clear of bumps, intelligent design. It also is complexity and redundancy. Have back ups just in case. It's also obviously tech.
>>151824126isn't a compiler kinda like a rou6e? and isn't a stalker kinda like a ma6e/seer/prince?Fan6s and Circuits are actually pretty cool and I don't think they're derivative of any of the other aspects either, and I can kinda see how each class would 6enerally interact with their aspect, so 6ood jo8 on that one
>>151824163Class: kinda. It's less direct aspect and more tangential is I need to differentiate from others. Compiler takes from the environment and less people. Aspects: thanks. If I could make my own homestuck I'd try to include them if I could

Whatever happened to special features? You'd get them all the time on DVD, but suddenly the Advanced™ technology of Blu-ray can't handle it?

After 25 years, Spongebob, which used to be one of if not the biggest IPs of the 2000s, is now bombing hard. Spongebob has not stood the test of time and confirmed itself as a Gen Z only phenomena. It is now a legacy IP whose relevance will continue to decline hard until it is like Hanna-Barbera characters who followed the same trend as it. As Gen Z grows away from it everyone else will know it exists but that is the extent of knowledge they have for the IP. That is its legacy, a flash in the pan.
>>151821215It's already expecting to make 2 billion. So not so grim. it'll make less than two but more than one. Paramount are the real losers this year.
>>151814752reminds me of this image i saw awhile ago, its kinda sad
>>151814752Good, now if other soillenial shitty IPs that overstayed it's welcome would also die such as Steven Universe or Adventure Time, that would be great

>>151819276>thinking Spongebob will ever end It's already outlived its creator. The moment they're able to replace Kenny or Fagerbakke is the day the franchise officially becomes untouchable
You can really feel how audiences have shifted towards animation lately when pic related, an experimental adult mini-series featuring some of TV's most prominent animators, gets basically zero discussion from the animation community.
