>From the pages of Jingle Belle comes everybody's favorite Texas firebrand! Master comics writer Paul Dini has set his imagination loose in the Southwest, and the result is Mutant, Texas, a town where several natural and nuclear disasters have irradiated the environment, giving strange new attributes to the inhabitants -- human, animal, and otherwise. This includes the pretty-as-pie, ginger-locked, good-time gal, Ida Red. A lady who can fly and shoot blasts of lightning from her fingers makes one heck of a sheriff, particularly when those crafty Kiyote Bros. are on the prowl! Join Dini and artist J. Bone for a brand-new adventure, taking you from Ida's youth to when she earned that silver star.

Oh, this comic looks interes->Black and white
Why is it so hard for Ghost Rider to have a successful book or movie? On paper Johnny, Danny, Robbie, even the new girl, should sell. Also this new captcha can blow me
>>151906910Not to mention he's possessed by his satanic practicing dickhead uncle who killed Robbie's parents and is the reason why Robbie's little brother is both crippled and retarded
>>151906931His brother's not retarded, just 10 & sheltered because Robbie's forced to take care of him all alone in a rough area.
>>151906956I could have sworn he had a mental handicap too that was later fixed by demon magic
>>151906456There's lots of room for fun dynamics with the Rider and the Angel/Demon/whatever they serve as a host for>A kindly human befriends and heals the tragic monster>reluctant partners who become best friends>star-crossed lovers (can a fallen angel and a human...make it work?)>Angel watches over a neglected child and treats them as their own>Passive observer who just wants to see crazy shit happen, enables a human radical>Human psycho meets demon psycho = paint the town red>Odd couple: uptight Angel vs sleazy host
Ghost Rider needs somebody who genuinely wants to put some effort into writing, Marvel just doesn't want to. He's inherently cooler than assholes Marvel is actively pushing like Jessica Jones.
I want to /ss/ him

I got this for Christmas like I wanted and it was probably the most overrated comic I've read in a long time. For me it's not even in the Top 50 of best Batman stories.

/co/ opinion on The Eternaut? Sci-fi Story about a group of friends surviving in Buenos Aires after a mysterious deadly snow that kills on contact falls on the city.
>>151897176There's a saying: "Good things come to those who wait." Perhaps it was for the best. Nowaday's technology, not only more advanced but also more accessible, made the adaptation of El Eternauta to the screen possible. There's a video by Ayer Nomas where he explains the multiple reasons behind it delay, and the attempts thwarted in the process. To sum it up, there are two main reasons: the Oesterhelds did not agree with any proposal and, perhaps by chance or fate, the conditions were never the right ones to produce a film adaptation.https://youtu.be/W4rlLbbvwKo?si=aEG4nSiqagZPzMpV
>>151895754Personally, I divide the story of The Eternaut into two parts: the first, about survival in an apocalyptic world due to mysterious causes, and the second, about war against alien invaders. I prefer the first part, seeing how a family and their friends have to find ways to survive in a world where death literally falls from the sky and, to make matters worse, the other survivors fight over scarce resources. I appreciate that there aren't any stupid characters who endanger everyone else; everyone (except the two children) is a responsible adult who thinks before acting, but even so, every action carries an unavoidable mortal risk. The charm of the story disappears in the second part. Furthermore, the mystery vanishes completely. Oh, wow, it's an alien invasion! Oh, look, those are the aliens! Shoot them! Bang, bang, bang! Boom! Time travel!I wish the entire first season of the Netflix series had focused on Juan Salvo, his family, and friends' struggle for survival in the world of the deadly snowstorm. It should have maintained the 'spirit' of the first two episodes. The revelation of the alien invasion could have been left for the season finale, as a cliffhanger.
>>151900495well shame
>>151895754The show was pretty cool.
>>151905043Meh.

>>151902802Eh I mean S1 was plenty fun but it's a kinda generic concept. It definitely could've gotten tons of seasons like AT and other shows but for how shit it turned, four were plenty.
Was Johnny Test actually that bad or was the hate overblown and it was actually good? People used to hate this show online way back in the day for airing too much

Why are cartoon openings not allowed to go hard anymore? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjI0TdvVbqI
>>151904333fpbpThis trick now is making something that can be memorable in like 15 seconds and even that may not be enough for the ADHD public
>>151904258God this show was so boring
>>151904258Not just openings but also action scenes that goes hard too.
>>151906727I actually agree. It wanted to be a good show, but it was a kid show and overall nothing really happened. I'm not expecting people to die or something, but a rough summary of the storyline is "the main cast learns some valuable life lessons, Demona gets bodied repeatedly like the bitch she is, and Xanatos's storyline is a rollercoaster that's increasingly hard to take seriously."BTAS didn't need to reference Shakespeare to seem mature. Gargoyles references Shakespeare because that's a really deep literary reference to a middle schooler.
>>151904258Cartoons are mostly for kids, and kids don't have the attention span for an opening. Most tablet raised goblins can't even sit through an entire episode anymore. The cartoons of the future are 30 second clips with vague EDM playing in the background.
I recently went back for the 10 year anniversary and started rereading some tie-ins I loved, along with a few I missed the first time around. Revisiting Master of Kung Fu completely won me over again, but more importantly, it made something very clear to me: this is the storyline Shang-Chi movie should have adapted. It already contains everything you would want from a Marvel kung fu movie. The superhero elements are present, the backbone of the story is the tournament, which gives the narrative focus, tension, and pacing. The lore introduced in this version is especially great. Multiple clans exist in a fragile balance of peace, all operating under the rule of a leader chosen through combat: the Mandarin, head of the Ten Rings. Each clan are versions of a different part of the Marvel universe like the Hand, Iron Fist, the Morlocks, Spider-themed factions, the Black Panther clan, Savage Land, Moon Knight, the Inhumans. It’s a smart and creative way to build a world that feels expansive and it makes the setting feel ancient, and alive. What really stings is how easily this could have translated to film. The emotional core is already there: Shang-Chi as the estranged son returning to face his powerful, authoritarian father, framed within a martial arts tournament that evokes something like Mortal Kombat. The MCU could have adapted the clans as needed, even using them to work concepts like Wakanda, Iron Fist, or mutants, while still telling a focused story. The comic’s art, fights, and emotional weight only make the missed opportunity more frustrating, and while maybe this is just crying over spilled milk, it’s a thought that hit hard while rereadingAnyways, felt like talking more about this, or about other Secret Wars tie-ins that you enjoyed or think deserved more attention.
yeah this was a fun one. there were some fun "elseworlds" style Marvel minis amongst the tie-insSecret Wars 2015 kind of became my last hurrah for Marvel. I'll still pick up the occasional book if its get enough buzz, but this was my exit point for ever caring about marvel as a whole
>>151902488Nice read
>>151902488Frankly I would have done the arc where Shang Chi was poisoned and has to beat ass to find the antidoteBut this would definitely make a better MCU movie I admit
>>151902488Okay.
What went wrong?
>>151899986They got popped
>>151899986Got big early when there was a lack of competition, thought that meant they had the market on lockdown and could dictate how things were run, newcomers with better business practices ripped talent and licensing out from under them, attempted to push adjacent product on an uninterested market audience, and finally publishers took note of the expanding US market and started making their own inroads and cutting distribution deals themselves.
From my own observation, it seems like they started with licenses and then wanted to move on to originals, which ended up being the worst kind of Deviant Art "how to draw manga" webcomic slop. I didn't even know they licensed manga until recently, I always associated them with "American manga".
>>151903291They had some big licenses back in the early to mid 2000s - Fruits Basket, .hack, Sailor Moon and Love Hina off the top of my head.
>>151900006Jeez.
