The setup is a mix of Earth 2 and 3 where the JSA are the bad guys because they are old and only pretend to be heroes. >Batman: he's the main character >Superman: kinda douchy rival who flirts with defecting to the JSA>Wonder Woman: She's a Mary sue feminazi who can't actually do anything but wonder if she should be with Batman or Superman>John Stewart: Batman's black friend who talks to him about black problems because Batman gets it. He stole one of Alan's rings and Alan is super racist about it.>Wally West: the heart of the team, Batman's sidekick. Jay hates him and calls him a little faggot for accessing the speed force.>Martian Manhunter: the JSA's victim. Basically just green ET and the reason Superman rejects the JSA.

hijacking this thread to ask. when did batman go from a crimefighter to a full on superhero? like i read some 90s batbooks and he was seemingly more of a street level guy and more of a detective and still fought regular non-powered/costume guys often whether they were the villain or just henchmen of the villain. when i read more modern batman stuff its often just supervillain after supervillain and lots of "sprawling epic storylines" and "things will never be the same, the epic conclusion" etc. i preferred the street level stuff

He's had crossovers like world's finest where he swung above his weight for a long time, but if it's just the general gotham narratives I'd say some time around hush through infinite crisis. Wargames might be the exact point. Pretty much all of the batpeople suffered from the stakes being perpetually high and lacking the day to day crime fighting stuff until Dick became batman, though some of it is kinda ok. It really made the setting a lot weaker imo but they don't really seem to have faith in anything unless the stakes are high

fun ride. this board doesn't give Dynamite enough credit for comics like these. Weisman has been having a good time carrying on the Gargoyles lore. It hasn't gone full autism. When its all said, it will make for a nice omnibus.I've picked up the holiday issues of Ducktales. They were fun too, art was clean & colorful and the writers got the vibe of the cartoon. Haven't read the other Darkwing stuff but Dynamite's done a pretty good job with the Disney Afternoon comics.I'll use this thread to say that I'm also enjoying the Nightmare Before Christmas mini that's wrapping up this week and the new Muppet Noir. Its a gift anytime Roger Langridge can do more Muppets comics

No big events, sloggish story arcs, etc. Not too dark, but far from a comedy. Thundercats is solid too, but I don’t know why it’s so popular.
