I admit one of my main reasons for hating Rocko is because I fucking hate those 90s kids who force their love of the 90s down people's throats and say that cartoons nowadays suck ass! They even said this back in 2009, so I want to get back at them for saying "y'know what!? Your shows fucking suck! How do you feel about that!?"
>>153069414I'll take the mice over "Ninja Boy" anyday.
>>153069414Pinky & The Brain was already kinda circling the drain near the end. Most episodes didn't even have them actually launching plans to take over the world, but instead running get-rich-quick scams to finance those plans.
>>153068481Monster By Mistake was a MISTAKE
>>153067864>letting outside fandom behaviour dictate how you feel toward a piece of art Rocko's Modern Life is goated, please seek therapy if you can't separate a cartoon from its fans
>>153068481>When someone says all 90s cartoons were good, i’ll just remind them Hammerman, Mega Babies, The Brothers Flub, Yo Yogi, Angela Anaconda, Fat Dog Mendoza, Bad Dog, 3 Friends and Jerry, Monster By Mistake and Pinky Elmyra and The Brain existed. And when someone says something as retarded as this I ask them how many of those were mainstream commercial successes. Nobody on /co/ is bitching about flops or cartoons no ones paying attention to, just the ones that are supposed to be the pinacle of the indsutry right now but suck complete ass.
What is the most brutal death from the series?
>>153071669The issue isn’t even that they kill cartoon animals - it’s just that it’s so fucking brutal and cruel. No one wants to see sweet, innocent things being flayed alive and crying.
>>153071792Its the crying i think. Like the brutal gore is funny when they are just doing funny screams, or is deserved. Like for a lot of Lumpy's anticsFlaky's episode is gut wrenching because beyond she crying a lot, it's the fact she is so brave in that episode, doing what she can to survive, and her reward is still a painful death.Episode would be fine if she escaped at the end and Disco Bear gets fucked only
>>153071669This thread brings back a lot of memories, I had to go back and re-watch a lot of the episodes.I'm guessing the part that traumatized you is the 30 second break in action that suddenly drops the slapstick and focuses on how Flaky's pain, panic, despair, and resolve to live all play out. The closest comparable scene to this I can remember would be the episode where Lumpy has to amputate himself with a spoon because one of his limbs is trapped under an immovable object, this was incredibly hard to watch too, but crucially, that scene is punctuated heavily by the fact that he ends up somehow removing the wrong limb. You can't help but laugh even after all the pain that was depicted. There's nothing funny or stupid about what Flaky does here. There's no moment that pulls you away from the character's suffering to make you go "Hah! What an idiot! RIP!". So you are just left with watching a person; not a mere canvas for slapstick and gore, who bled, despaired, and struggled for their life and failed. Intentional attempt at drama? I don't know, it could just be that the adults who made this were not as sensitive as the children watching it, and they thought it would be found funny because she has the delayed reaction of turning into cubes at the end.Anyway thanks for reading my blog. Flaky is cute.
I think the worst part about any death is there being a brief moment after someoen gets horribly hurt or disfigured where you can clearly tell the character is still alive and aware in horrid pain before being finished off brutally.

Given that Invincible is hot shit now will they ever republish the OTHER crossovers?
I'm pretty sure they could make a hefty volume out of them
They'd have to get the rights but I doubt that'd be a problemHester said him and Kuhn are trying to find time to make a conclusion to Firebreather and Faerber teased more to come with the Faerberverse a while back (though it was probably just a one and done short story for the Image anniversary anthology) so if both do eventually return to print, I can see The Pact come back as well albeit as a novelty

not gonna lie illumination can really cook on animation sometimes this fight scene alone has better choreography than even the latest episode of invincible lmao

>>153071091Its like EA where they have extremely talented people and iconic IPs under their name but they can only churn out slop eternally

Is animation in the west really in its death thralls? Are we the last generation that will have grown up with cartoons?
>>153069103I wish AT stayed as a fantasy cartoon for boys. The early episodes with The Lich were kino.
>parents just dump their kids infront of a tablet to watch streamers and tiktok all day>the few parents who try to limit brainrot/ impose their tastes on kids have an infinite amount of old cartoons to show them>live broadcast tv is DEAD so the concept of saturday morning cartoons is dead with it>cartoons are left to become nepobaby millenials' unoriginal, anime-inspired vanity projects about le depression and """"adult issues""""It's dead and it's never coming back.
>>153068583Those exist.
americans can't draw.
>>153071532I think the "end" of saturday morning cartoons/scheduled days of cartoons is probably what hurts the most. There was something special to waking up on your day off and some channels just went "Hey you, here's a bunch of stuff you like to kick off your weekend" because it felt nice when adults gave you a time and place for something and did something for you. Even the stuff you weren't super into, having it once a week as something different made it special.Sure it's nice to stream and it does wonders for anything with a heavy storyline and continuity, but, just flicking something on and seeing what you got today was fun. Helps expose you to stuff you might not otherwise watch.
