>>153072448oh yeah that was the word i was looking for while i was rewatching adventure time, it feels nostalgic... but the dread empty kind
>>153072460I diagnose you with Lisamania.
>>153072467Nostalgia originally meant that before it got twisted into people soifacing over funko pops and shit. >The word nostalgia is a neoclassical compound derived from Greek, consisting of νόστος (nóstos), a Homeric word meaning "homecoming", and ἄλγος (álgos), meaning "pain"; the word was coined by a 17th-century medical student to describe the anxieties displayed by Swiss mercenaries fighting away from home.[4] Described as a medical condition—a form of melancholy—in the early modern period,[5] it became an important trope in Romanticism.[2]

Why is the guy who's name is Invincible getting steam rolled every fight?
>>153066286>>153069535The problem with Vegeta is that his redemption wasn't really earned (plus he never wanted to be redeemed like Nolan wants to as he's been trying to do for most of the anime as he only began to "I want to undo the damage I did" during the fight against Kid Buu) and he got off easy since the Z fighters more so HAD to tolerate him out of necessity for greater present threats in the android saga, he wasn't a friend; he was a walking nuke they hoped stayed pointed at the current enemy but if say the two androids Gero and 19 were the only threat then he likely would have directed his newly obtained super saiyan power in going back to getting his revenge on everyone. DBZ also has dragons balls which mitigates somewhat the things he's done (mainly buu saga) but should be kept in mind that one Namekian village Vegeta slaughtered they're still dead too since the Dragon Balls couldn't bring them back since he wasn't among Frieza's forces and this including to past planets with their civilizations he has annihilated. I find it funny that Super in the manga finally addressed it with him giving an apology for the namekians, but it comes off really unearned with how late this apology came and when you take into account Super was obviously not suppose to be a thing initially given how Z run ended. Vegeta was sent to hell for a reason as Piccolo explains to him when Vegeta asked him if he'll be going to join Goku in the afterlife in keeping his body or Hell in losing it and be cleansed as a new soul. King Yemma gave Vegeta his 2nd chance (getting rid of the halo) during the Kid Buu fight because he put his very existence on the line in finally doing an act of selflessness. I wouldn't say to take that as King Yemma views it as Vegeta has "redeemed himself" but rather that he's going to reevaluate Vegeta's actions hence forth as a probation of sorts giving him with this 2nd chance at life a clean slate.
>>153074421Ultimate chuck.
so you're telling me he could have done that the ENTIRE time mark was choking him to death????
>>153072566>The fights in invincible are just... flat, basic gore. Even ignoring how simple the fight moves are, they just don't have anything that takes them above being two dudes punching each other and senseless gore.Look, I'm as critical of invincible as anyone, but this is a silly take. How can you knock invincible for cartoonish depictions of viscera and not laugh at the shot of the scared women not reacting or fighting back at all when grabbed by the face of some robot. The scene is baby's first situational irony and juxtaposition. It seems more like the visual language of anime is just something you find more palatable. Compare like for like. The thematic intentionality of the most recent fight or the Chicago fight are completely different, the Chicago fight was to highlight the collateral damage of what two super powered demi-gods would be like, the most recent fight was depicting an animalistic battle of wills. The final scene of the most recent fight doesn't end in a triumphant "we won!", it's a cold, silent, relaxing of conquest's leg. You don't even feel a true sense catharsis at his death. When invincible is attempting to depict something similar like when Angstrom attacks Debbie and the intended mood is uneasy horror it does fine. The big fights are flat as fights and have lackluster animation, but as framing devices they're actually good. Mark helplessly watching Eve die in his arms screaming for Cecil's help while Conquest goads him was good narrative framing. Mark getting the viltrumite handshake and then throttling forward into the choke to showcase his animalistic resolve was great framing. Mark being used by his own father to kill hundreds of innocent bystanders because his father was callously trying to show mark how futile and insignificant human lives are to them was good framing. Mark accidently bludgeoning Angstrom to death and breaking his no kill rule because he was pushed too far and thought Angstrom could take it was good framing.
>>153052295>>153048654This "animation" fucking sucks lmao
>>153074159I don't think you know what framing means. Framing is about scene composition and using it to tell a story in the shot. Its not about WHAT happened, its about how it looked and what was conveyed by how it looked.None of what you described is that, you're entirely describing the what and not the how.
>>153074357>I don't think you know what framing means. Framing is about scene composition and using it to tell a story in the shot. Its not about WHAT happened, its about how it looked and what was conveyed by how it looked. There's a difference between compositional framing and narrative framing. You weren't clear on which you meant. >he callous, efficient brutality of it juxtaposed with a context that SHOULD be a happy and carefree place is much more unsettling than simply watching people get exploded into a bucket of blood for the 10th time. This indicates you're taking about the underlying atmosphere itself, the intention of the scene not the blocking and mise en scene of the scene. I definitely know what I'm talking about.

>>153074028So you're saying just grab a pen(cil) and paper and draw something you like to draw and do it every day, regardless of quality and it'll improve?>>153074032I just think I am too old and not 'trained' enough to really get into the right shit.>>153074055I think the idea of 'just draw' was that you got into a routine of drawing every day and once you'd kinda 'forced' yourself to draw, even for a small amount of time every day, you could then move onto actually taking the possibly slight progression you had simply through 'trying' and move onto actually learning fundamentals. But then you get people saying you need to do fundamentals from the get go. Then ultimately I think>Well even if I could draw well and quickly without pain, I then have to learn to colour shit>And then I have to move onto digital devices and programs and learn all thoseCoupled with being an unc and all that stuff.I always use to laugh at the autistic kid when I was in school who REFUSED to trace anything even if you HAD to trace it for the thing. He would refuse and get really angry if you said trace it and he'd spend ages doing it by hand. I do wonder if he actually got good as an artist. Sadly cannot remember his surname.
Also just gonna say thanks for replying anyway, everybody.
>>153074118>I just think I am too old and not 'trained' enough to really get into the right shit.No one starts good. Also, it's not so much about getting into the "right shit" as sustainability - learning to draw is a marathon, not a sprint. There's a lot of books that will help you when you want to get into more advanced stuff - PROTIP: most of them are older rather than newer. A lot of newer how to draw books are just regurgitations of older books anyways.>tracingIt is better to freehand copy over tracing, so for what it's worth he was right. You learn measurement and line confidence by freehand copying, and it's a lot harder to turn your brain off and just follow the lines.>just drawThe trap of just draw is drawing without thinking. Like >>153074055 said, drawing without intent is just spinning your wheels.
>>153073614She ate him
>>153074118Yeah, just draw™, always be striving, never be too content (it's a balancing thing). Books will teach you to follow instructions. You'll read someone else's art adventure instead of being the hero in your own.
