He was genuinely surprised to find out that his friends (who are all also insane in their own way) saw Venturion as the most fucked up thing they'd ever seen, he fully expected they'd be jumping with joy to see their friend again and didn't understand why or how he did anything wrong.From that point onwards, he became less of an "intentional" villain and more of a guy with an ego so great that he couldn't even conceptualize of someone who isn't a major big dick supervillain like Force Majeure hating him, let alone his own son.
