>>106970033it's microsofts own bastardized java, who'd want to use that and why?
>>106970207>Distros have something in common with other distros, especially popular onesYeah, and...?
>>106970411All the babies feed on Debian.
>>106970257It's far better than java. It has a nice syntax and strikes a good balance between control and readability. It sits nicely between C++ (great for high performance and low level optimization but very verbose and tons of boilerplate) and Python (too high level and lack of a proper type system for bigger projects). C# is perfect for code that needs to be rock solid, readable and maintainable and requires decent but not the absolute best performance. E.g. ideal for web backends and the sorts. It's not a tinkertranny language.
>>106970533Everything you've said describes JavaScript perfectly.
Fucking finally
>>106969759Don't know where you live, but here CFL only belonged, like women, in the kitchen. Another exception was classrooms, offices and large areas where by sheer number you could sorta ignore the hellish flicker.
>>106969283That's a LED
I'm happy with the two 2500lm CRI90 RGBW bulbs in my living room/work space.Reaching the same luminosity with incandescent bulbs would require 350W which sounds like a potential fire hazard.
>>106970540Imagine dumping 350W of heat into your room purely from lightinglmao
>>106969797Trying to find LED lamps which can take G4/GU5.3 LED bulbs is also almost impossible. A handful of ceiling spots and that's it.You either use 220V bulbs, with all the stupidity of putting a 220V power supply in the bulb, or you can get lamps with no replaceable parts at all.Industry should long ago have made a LED specific lamp socket, designed ground up for 12V DC with PWM dimming. For the cheapest lamps you could then just use 3 LEDS and a resistor, still perfectly dimmable.
If you don't have this level of dedication, you're not ready to work in tech.
>>106970482There's actually cafes in some hiking spots on mountains, it's not entirely unviable.
>>106970272If I saw this little faggot on his gay computer (and his sissy friend taking pictures of him) in a national park I'd punch his fucking teeth out
>>106970452Probably like 50 watts max. So yeah it's fine if you're on a 10 year old chromebook. I live on solar and my work laptop plus modem needs probably 50% of the array which would be ~300 watts (so like 6x that size.) It's a little weird that he doesn't have a macbook now that I'm thinking about it.
>>106970272Not so much dedication, but the autism of not being able to switch off at the end of the day and keep working the problem while you're trying to fall asleep. Bonus points if you find it enjoyable.

I want to use my old Thinkpad x240 as a server running Plex. It has one external and one internal battery. Would you rather recommend removing them completely or just limiting the charge levels with tlp? If the latter, which charge levels do you recommend?
>>106968648I don't really see how. You pick an install drive and it installs. There's a few options, but it's not complex. Watch a video on it if you're paranoid.>>106968981>Going 14 wide with raidz. That's probably not a great idea. You're at (some would say above) the upper bound for what is reasonable. Remember that RAIDZs effectively half the IOPs of a singular drive, and any small (or even medium) files striped that wide is going to behave as a random I/O. Resilver times can become horrendous on RAIDZs that wide because of this. If you're using large record sizes and aggressively keeping small blocks out of the RAIDZ via the small blocks property on metadata specials, it's fine. Before you commit to doing that and copying stuff over for days, try it and write a few hundred gigs of random garbage in a big file, then randomly overwrite parts of it to fragment it a bit. Wipe one of the drives and time a resilver. That's what your media rebuild times will be like. If you do the same thing with a few hundred gigs of small files, it'll take considerably longer. Feel free to try it.If you partitioned off the space you can use the other partitions for whatever you want. ZFS just wants block devices. Partitions are block devices. It accepts whole discs for convenience, but it's not a requirement to pass whole discs. If there's a mismatch in block device size in a vdev, it just limits all of them to whatever the smallest is.Storage appliances like TrueNas will not let you partition stuff out like that via the webgui because it's not a good practice in an enterprise setting, but if you know you won't be abusing two pools at once, sure, you can do that. You could do your 14 wide raidz, and then run a 8 disk pool of mirrors on the side of it. Just be aware that trying to do stuff with both pools at once is going to suck.
>>106970549>Remember that RAIDZs effectively half the IOPs of a singular drive,Typoed that. Meant to be>effectively have the IOPS ofIE, all the drives wind up moving in unison for every I/O operation, so if you're doing small random I/O the performance fucking sucks.
