What programming languages could have avoided Cloudflare's Rust fail?
>>107592176You have to move on. Staying with Ubuntu and ranting isn't accomplishing anything.Tell them that you leave and leave.Canonical sent an advertisement of some service to me and i replied by telling them that i do not use Ubuntu anymore, since i need availability on my servers and Ubuntus experimental coreutils replacement isn't meeting this, and asked them nicely to stop sending me messages and to remove me from whatever recipe list they have me in.RockyLinux and AlmaLinux are good choices.Just don't go with Debian, cause then you are again in Canonicals turf, and obviously don't go with RedHat.
>>107592258You do have memory safety in no_std.
>>107592266 (Me)btw. yes, you should complain. You should complain a lot. Since migrating causes you useless work and a project that was good became shit. But don't stay.If you rant and stay, they don't take you serious.
>>107592266I didn't actually use Ubuntu I was making a hypothetical.I do use Debian though but 12 is going to be the last one, let's see what happens with Devuan they seem to have level heads but the team is small. When the Debian team drops all packages that "dont integrate with Rust" in May 2026 I wonder if Devuan picks them up.My problem is with these hostile takeovers that they take this entire mature infrastructure with them that people have relied on for years-decades.Ive been using Debian as long as it has existed and it has been good so far so why I should just accept that some trannies took it over and will destroy it
>>107592309>My problem is with these hostile takeovers that they take this entire mature infrastructure with them that people have relied on for years-decadesDo you even know what hostile takeover means? It is undesirable and forced by definition. No one wants it.Fortunately no one forces anyone in FOSS to work on projects they don't like. Just grab your fellow maintainers, make a fork and leave these hostile trannies with nothing.I don't understand what is stopping you. It is a HOSTILE TAKEOVER after all.

Is there any real difference between 320 and FLAC?
>>107590972Yes. Lossy audio compression causes cumulative brain damage. But I suppose at this point, its already too late. People are so over exposed there is little point avoiding it now. We have to accept that our auditory centers have been destroyed beyond repair. Personally, I don't even bother listening to music anymore, there is no point. Its over.
>>107590972You'll hear a difference if you slow it down(like zooming in on a picture). You'll hear a difference if it's two versions of the same track. You'll hear a difference in streaming vs local(streaming services use volume normalization so the volume will be different, most of the time quieter). In a local player with the mp3 made from a flac you own - not in a million years.
>>107591010/thread
>>107590972It depends. Mostly no, you won't notice any differences. Even if you can, why is it even important? Audioniggers make a lot of fuss about it. Consider comparing 256kbps mp3 to 320kbps mp3. Maybe, sorta, I think 320 sounds better, right? 320kbps to lossless have even less differences. It doesn't matter. If your mind wanders when you listen to music, it doesn't matter. If you like the music, it doesn't matter. Flac is about peace of mind. I listen to the best possible source on my shitty $15 IEMs.
>>107591623Cheap audio hardware is substantially more detrimental to perceived quality than bitrate, a thousand times over.

I have a service that wants to use WebRTC on a isolated network and I can't figure out how to make it externally accessible in a sane way. I can port forward <router>:8443 -> <10.1.9.2>:443 for the WebUI just fine of course, but no clue how to approach exposing my TURN server or the ports needed for the WebRTC connection. I could forward all the standard STUN/TURN ports (regular + TLS), then the 10000-20000 range that can be made use of for connections, then do some sort of hairpin NAT so the service can provide clients with the external IP of the TURN server while still accessing it itself but that seems really excessive. I can also just toss a jump host into the 10.1.9.0/24 network and tunnel in that way but I'd rather know how to do it properly. pic very related.
I want to help my dad cut back his cable bill (over $200 a month). Shows and movies are simple enough but is there anything for live news and sports? Even a paid service would be fine as long as it's not too expensive.
